I have been with the same woman for a year now. We just moved in together 2 months ago. I love her. We are very kind to each other. We try to be helpful to each other and we do this without sacrificing our autonomy. I am really worried when I see people who have been in relationships for a long time and they just don't seem to be happy together. I don't want this to happen to us. Can anyone post about their good relationship, and how it has remained good over the years?

Not the best expert in this subject but in my opinion, when you move in with each other, you probably need to have a talk with her about this to establish these things.   You need to have trust.   There can be no relationship without that..Good relationships take hard work every day. Good luck Killa Killa!  Life as you knew it will change  :-)

to keep a relationship good is to always have respect for one another

i alway see my friend go through hell and so did i with my x...

i used to say as well as they....we made it through it so we must be so strong...and stronger for it..

but if something bad keep happening its not good...and people need to see that...it doesnt make you stronger..it makes the relationship toxic

so always and i mean always, RESPECT.....AND if you guys can keep that through the relationship,...you have it /default_smile.png

Yes. I agree. Talking and having communication about my wants and needs is paramount! And also listening to her wants and needs. I think being as ego-less as possible on both ends of the communication is very important in order to have a good relationship. Its not about always getting my needs met or always trying to meet her needs nor is it about her needs always being met or trying to always meet my needs. I think it is about trying to be as helpful to each other as much as possible. Thanks @Gallon.

Yes. I very much agree. I think respect is so important when fostering a relationship. I don't have to agree with everything she does, or like everything she does and she doesn't have to agree with or like everything I do. However, a level of respect for each other is so important in order to be encouraging, helpful, and interested in my significant other. Also, I think both parties need to have a level of respect for themselves. If this isn't available, I could see inequality developing which in turn could foster resentment! Thanks @sadminion.

I have found that actually LIKING the person you are in a relationship with is just as important as loving them. If you don't like who they are as a person, that'll eventually make you fall out of love. I know that one from personal experience.

I have been in a relationship with the same person for 14 years. Its not always been great but its always been the right one. We have been through alot, good and bad. We have been everywhere from homeless together to living up on the hill enjoying the finer things money can buy. Now we live modest, quiet life raising 2 great kids. Paycheck to paycheck. One thing I know for certain is; the man would literaly take a bullet for me. And I would do the same for him. Its just something you know, to trust someone with your life. I dont worry about the future with him, if we win the lottery or end up back in the streets, itll be together. We do have a agreementt though: if Brad and Angie show up at our door wanting to swap partners......its adios amigo :):)

Added- beause in todays theme of "keeping it real" - I loves and treat him the best on payday.

Im sorry but since he is a oil rig welder, his paycheck is much superior to mine. So after the bills, I feel it is fair to split the rest 50/50. Its fair, I mean after he cashes his check, i do all the real work;);)   Hes a simple man and dosnt consider the fact that I would still treat him like a king if he has no paycheck. We areboth very generous /default_wink.png

We've been legal 43 years ... The glue that kept us together that long, in all honesty, the other loves me more than self ... There are occasional and brief moments when I can reciprocate ... So, unlike many of you, I'm still learning what the experience of really being loved by another is, and trying to love back more than I love myself. ... It's impossible 4 me ... Don't understand that kinda love - but am really happy to experience it from my partner ... BLAH, Blah, blah.

I'm a terrible girlfriend. I don't deserve what I have so I have no advice for you other than absence makes the heart grow fonder and familiarity breeds contempt. Try to find a good balance between the two

I wonder what would happen if we could all accept everything (including people) how it is?

  1. CalFresh @ CalFresh: Thanks everyone. My family and I are safe ATM. @mellowella thank you, but they cleaned me out. the shelves are empty but I'm hoping to call in some favors to restock ASAP. @xenxra I will reach out to set up a secure comms channel for us. Thanks again all. Yesterday was tough, but the support I've received from those I can share is with has been a Godsend.
  2. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: Mad love to you and your family @CalFresh
  3. xenxra @ xenxra: @CalFresh if you are able to DM me (in a secure manner) the transactions associated with your btc theft, i can look into that part for you at least. i;m still 99% certain if the fbi didn't discard my leads they could have gotten some of my coins back and considering you had your coins stolen within the us, you have a much better chance of recovery than me. unless they went through mixers i could probably trace them myself.
  4. O @ Outsider9173: @CalFresh Haven't been here long but I want to wish you a fast recovery

  10. mellowella @ mellowella: @CalFresh are you and your family safe? You’ve helped me in a pinch and were more than generous, and I’m sure you’ve helped others. How can we help you? Does it help at all if we completely buy out what’s left? Maybe that gives time and funds to restock and rebuild? I don’t want to break any rules here, but please let us know if we can do anything. All on your time of course.
  11. CalFresh @ CalFresh: thanks guys. I'm pulling together what I have left and leaning on the kindness of folks who support me to restock my shelves so that I can keep the lights on. Having my savings drained and my security vanish in an instant is paralyzing and the repercussions will only be realized in the coming days and weeks. for now I'm just trying to stay focused on the immediate priorities for ensuring this doesn't. cause cataclysmic failure to the life I've built for my children and I.
  12. H @ hotdog45: @CalFresh hey man if I can do anything, anything at all to help you get back on your feet let me know. Truly my heart goes out to you. I sent you an email also

  17. CalFresh @ CalFresh: friends, about a few hours ago my home was invaded by two punk thugs with guns. They stole everything I had in my home: cash, electronics, and mags, and forced me to transfer $20K in Bitcoin. it is a huge loss and I'm still reeling trying to figure out what i.can do to recover. For now I'm just trying to secure what little I have left so they can't take anything else. I'm telling you guys cause theres not many others I can tell. please bare w/ me, it'll take a few days to get back up and running
  18. CnC5 @ CnC5: @xenxra awesome
