I agree 100 percent. It is a merry-go-round.I own guns, i dont carry them to feel like a pretend-a-thug. I hope i never need mine. U can't take back a bullet.
@NoName gotta say nice pic!
Seriously, this tends to be a merry-go-round at the end of which nobody ever says "yep, im convinced, i totally change my mind" not ime anyway
No Europe just has people who runover crowds with automobiles, I realize these posts are old and a lot has changed but Europe doesn't appear to be very safe either. Criminals don't obtain guns legally so it is our right to defend ourselves. And I happen to like guns, they are a great expensive hobby, lol. I'm sure criminals in Europe have guns but knives used for killings is probably more common.WOW... Did I say that I'm laughing about school shootings? Nor sir. I said: We are laughing about those idiots telling everyone, AFTER school shootings, to gear up. We cannot understand that YOU cannot understand that guns kill people. My reaction is not ment to be sick. I think killing children is such and having guns is sick. Over here we don't have guns and, consequently, we DONT have any shootings...
Tyranny? Seriously? What the hell are you talking about.
@2earls, I just had this conversation the other day with some friends about other subjects. Nationwide and especially in Seattle the Liberals are complaining and marching about everything whether they are right or wrong, meanwhile the conservatives for the most part just sit back and then complain after a law was passed instead of actually doing something about it.Such a polarizing topic, even my family and I have had some lengthy disagreements. So... like politics and religion, I don't discuss my feelings on the matter. Right after the Orlando massacre, I happened to watch a PBS special on the NRA.
It occurred to me that the pro-gun segment of society is much more vocal and passionate than the anti-gun side who is more passive and compromising. "We don't want to take your guns, we just want to have more regulations blah blah blah ".
Until the anti-gun side adopts the same, almost religious fervor that the hard core gun lobby represents, we will always be on the losing side. Gun sales (of semi-automatic weapons), spiked here last week. In fear of losing the right to buy them and in fear of having to defend themselves.
those damn assault knives, lol.There are approx 5 times more people killed by knives every year than guns (at least when it comes to murders) in the U.S. Just something to think about..
Great question and topic. I do not see it as practical and enforceable as some politicians want it to be. I haven’t looked too deep into what stipulations the law would entail to comment further, I just don’t see it as cut and dry."we need to stop giving mentally ill people access to guns".
Do you guys think this is a practical and enforceable solution to many of the mass shooting incidents?
You know what they say..... when you add "but" to a sentence it means "forget what I just said and let me tell you now I really feel". What is an "assault" weapon? I can commit felony assault on you using a salami roll as a weapon. Does it make salami an assault weapon? Well, technically yes, yes it does. We are not going to stop crime in this country, drugs use is out of control (the irony of making that statement here is not lost on me) and bad people do bad things. The way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Force must be equal or greater to the threat you're facing! People can refuse their 2nd amendment right, after all it is their right to refuse. but don't worry, it's ok... sheepdog, we will protect the flock of sheep against the wolves that hunt you." believe in sensible gun ownership, but assault weapons, really??

When all the criminals give up theirs I’ll give up mine.I don't wanna start a problematic thread here, but what the f*ck is up with you Americans and your guns. Seriously, what's the deal? Can someone explain?
Over here in the Netherlands we kee laughing about those guys on CNN after school shootings, telling everyone to get more guns and to arm teachers etc. That's so maniac! I think with regard to this topic, there is a GIGANTIC cultural gap between the USA and Europe.
Perfectly put! I will try to remember this for usage in the future.When all the criminals give up theirs I’ll give up mine.
I'm dying to know what an assault weapon is. Do tell! How do you feel about assault vehicles? How about assaults in general? How about murder? Rape? Is rape assault? Why haven't we made that illegal? Then there's that pesky murder thing. Maybe that should be illegal to? Since we are on a "ssault" theme how about we make burglary illegal too. Why stop at those imaginary "assault" weapons?Very, very encouraged by today's youth march "for our (their) lives". Hopefully, they will vote-in politicians who truly represent sensible gun laws. And NO --for those who like to freak out: your guns will NOT be taken away; but c'mon jeez, the gun violence in this country is insane!!!!!!!!! Children afraid to go to school?? Shit I have grandchildren who have been in actual lockdown situations from gun violence (tattempts) on more than one occasion and, ahem, not the "lower class school districts", but upper middle class so-called "safe" school districts. It doesn't matter, these are all our kids! The future of our country. C'mon, we are the United States of America....divided we fall. Yes, I am a liberal/aka progressive , I believe in sensible gun ownership, but assault weapons, really??
