I don't wanna start a problematic thread here, but what the f*ck is up with you Americans and your guns. Seriously, what's the deal? Can someone explain?

Over here in the Netherlands we kee laughing about those guys on CNN after school shootings, telling everyone to get more guns and to arm teachers etc. That's so maniac! I think with regard to this topic, there is a GIGANTIC cultural gap between the USA and Europe.

Gyre, it's our Constitutional right in the United States...It's called  "the right to bear arms"...

If you need more info than that, Google is your friend...

I'd have to agree with you Gyre. Us Americans are out of control with the guns. I'd be happy if they didn't exist at all. Yeah yeah, constitutional right, nobody let's you forget that. As long as us Americans have this right, idiot gun owners will continue to be the cause of a lot of unnecessary deaths. I'm not bashing responsible gun owners, I really don't have a problem with them. There should be a freaking IQ test before you can obtain one.

I used to shoot clay pigeons with my dad when I was younger. I was taught to respect what a weapon is etc. There's nut cases everywhere. Whatcha gonna do? @ least I have protection & handle it like a pro. Great indoor range near by. My favorite EDC is a .38. God, America is great, hun?

For a long time my favorite EDC was a M4/40.

But things are a little different once you come back outta the sandbox and I respect that -- hope they stay that way for a long time to come.

And yes, America IS great.

School shootings are no laughing matter. Any part of them. Your reaction is sick.
And based on the tone of your post, explaining "what the deal" is to you specifically seems like an impossible, thankless task. So I'll skip it, other than to say that the citizens of this great country do not tolerate tyranny, nor the threat there of; which comes at a price.

It's been said that anything one has to say has already been said better by another, so I'll just end it here with a quote from a fellow DBG member:

God Bless America! & that cultural gap is comforting.

I think what happens too ofter is always a tragedy. But if you take away the rights our forefathers gave us Americans like to bear arms, what next? Freedom of religion? Those gents back then were wise enough to make a country. It's worked so far.

WOW... Did I say that I'm laughing about school shootings? Nor sir. I said: We are laughing about those idiots telling everyone, AFTER school shootings, to gear up. We cannot understand that YOU cannot understand that guns kill people. My reaction is not ment to be sick. I think killing children is such and having guns is sick. Over here we don't have guns and, consequently, we DONT have any shootings...

Tyranny? Seriously? What the hell are you talking about.

Laughing about a reaction to something as disturbing as a school shooting, regardless of how absurd that (over) reaction is, is sick.

No shootings? Not "any"? A quick google search proves otherwise (Ridderhoff mall, etc).

Re: "Tyranny? Seriously?" Pick up a history book and inform yourself about what the hell I'm talking about.

I am done engaging with you in regard to this. It's playing out exactly as I said it would when I mentioned it being a thankless impossible task.

Have a good day.

I didn't take it as her laughing. This is a controversial subject and just as you are entitled to your opinion, so is she. I just happen to agree with her.

Are you saying that because there are no guns there are zero killings over there? LOL The saying "guns don't kill people, people kill people" is 100% true People were killing people LONG before guns were around and if the psycho that shoots the kids didn't have a gun they would use a bomb, drive their car into a group of them or use whatever they could to kill them. It's not the guns.

The reason you see all these shootings in schools and places where the public gather with more then 1500 people is because they are the few places where guns aren't allowed. The reason people after the shootings say that teachers should get guns, is because if they did, there would be someone that would shoot back. Ask any criminal'. If they know guns are going to be where they plan to rob or commit a crime, they'll go to the places that don't have them.

Would no guns be better? Sure, if you could get rid of them all but that's not going to happen and the only ones left with them would be the people that shouldn't have them.

Hey Gyre, you're European so you should know this. Do you know the first thing Hitler did when he got into power? He made all the German citizens give up their guns or they would be killed. Then what happened??? Your country may be able to live without guns, but that's only because there are countries like ours that have them!!! Without us you wouldn't have a country and Hitler's Third Reich would be running your country!!!

It's not as simple as you think!

My family and I are safe ATM. @mellowella thank you, but they cleaned me out. the shelves are empty but I'm hoping to call in some favors to restock ASAP. @xenxra I will reach out to set up a secure comms channel for us. Thanks again all. Yesterday was tough, but the support I've received from those I can share is with has been a Godsend.

  12. xenxra @ xenxra: @CalFresh if you are able to DM me (in a secure manner) the transactions associated with your btc theft, i can look into that part for you at least. i;m still 99% certain if the fbi didn't discard my leads they could have gotten some of my coins back and considering you had your coins stolen within the us, you have a much better chance of recovery than me. unless they went through mixers i could probably trace them myself.
  13. O @ Outsider9173: @CalFresh Haven't been here long but I want to wish you a fast recovery

  18. mellowella @ mellowella: I will always remember what you did for me the very first time I donated. I have been waiting to pay that kindness forward.
  19. mellowella @ mellowella: @CalFresh are you and your family safe? You’ve helped me in a pinch and were more than generous, and I’m sure you’ve helped others. How can we help you? Does it help at all if we completely buy out what’s left? Maybe that gives time and funds to restock and rebuild? I don’t want to break any rules here, but please let us know if we can do anything. All on your time of course.
  20. CalFresh @ CalFresh: thanks guys. I'm pulling together what I have left and leaning on the kindness of folks who support me to restock my shelves so that I can keep the lights on. Having my savings drained and my security vanish in an instant is paralyzing and the repercussions will only be realized in the coming days and weeks. for now I'm just trying to stay focused on the immediate priorities for ensuring this doesn't. cause cataclysmic failure to the life I've built for my children and I.
