okay so over the past few years , i been put on zpak by my primary care and amoxcillian once by my dentist for wisdom tooth extraction. I also took augentin last week for 14days cause i felt something coming on, and when i feel it i dont wait i get on it immediately.

I wanted to get some amoxcillian or augumentin just to have just in case, the doctor visit was expensive, and augumentin helps with sinusitis , if i take them when i have to when absolutely necessary will later on my body reject them?

I dont think overuse of antibiotics make you immune to them, I think it makes virus/bacteriaa etc immune to the antibiotic.  I have been prescribed antibiotics only a handful of times in 40 years. Last year I had to be in the hospital twice for MRSA which is a antibiotic resistant staph infection :( Im not sure what antibiotic I was gave that helped because it was through a IV not a prescription pill form to take at home.

@Def_Starr Neither of the things you described are affected by antibiotics.   Antibiotics are only for eliminating bacterial infections....The flu is a virus and will not be affected by antibiotics.   It is not good to take antibiotics unless you really need them as they destroy all the bacteria in your body including the good bacteria.  If you need to take antibiotics you may want to take probiotics to maintain healthy bacteria in your gut.   The good bacteria in your gut is what helps you maintain a healthy immune system.  Hope this helps.....

as @girlgerms said.....the more we use antibiotics the stronger the bacteria get......Well said gg.....it is best to use them only when necessary.

please dont take antibiotics every time you feel a stuffy nose.90 percent of time it will be allergies,cold-viral wont be killed by antibiotic, flu is also possible and that can make you feel very sick, the diseases that these folks are talking about, well one is c-diff,it is a bacteria that flourishes in the intestines when all of your good bacteria has been killed by antibiotics..You dont need fancy antibiotics in most cases, amoxicillin or keflex, and septra are all inexpensive and will help if you were to become ill with bacteria that they kill, common ones..For you I would advise to get the pnuemonia shot.I got bronchitis pnuemonia almost every year until I got that shot, and since then I have never gotten so sick as I used to get.Handwashing and gels for when no water is available can kill most bacteria before it gets you sick, fully cooked food.Prevention is the best medicine, and if you have a doctor, develop a relationship where they see the evidence of your infectious illnes and you will find they will probably call your script in and it will be alot less than buying online,,if no doctor or insurance then I would buy some of the antibiotics I mementioned, they are very inexpensive. But do not take unless you have solid symptoms of f bacterial infection.zpac is ok too..As for mrsa,it is hard to cure and hence ivabsIf you work at a phone or computer wipe it down with a bleach wipe before and after you take it  are given, probably vancomycin, cdiff can have your butt in the bathroom all day for your shift..I know lots of tricks like that,,tell people to cover mouth when coughin,I am a nurse and get exposed to alotand night and its very hard to get rid of alsoProbiotics are always recommened, culturell or forater are the most common ones I seeRemember prevention is the first defense, dont handle faucets or bathroom doors, and well I kick toilet flusher and turn my head not to get spashed, wear a mask if someone like a kid has something at your house..

Allergies and a cold are not reasons to receive antibiotics. I know other posts have stated this, but I cannot stress this enough. Antibiotic overuse and misuse is the reason why we, as a society, now have drug-resistant bugs. I agree with post above - get your vaccinations for viruses. There is not a "cure" for the flu either - you can get a medication that will reduce your sick time, to put it simply. Antibiotics are to be used when you have a known bacterial infection, meaning your doc with take cultures to test for this.

There are very few antibiotics that work well. in severe infections. Not MRSA, just stubborn multi-drug strains that are growing tougher & tougher because of over use & misuse of the present antibiotics we have. Bad news is there are know new antibiotics in the near future. So it has become a serious epidemic type issue. People w/ the flu like @anitnouse  @Breeze & other have said. You go to urgent care, or PCP, or E.R. because You feel like sh^t. & have been for several days wait 12 hours & you expect a script for your time& sadly most Doc's just give in & don't want a hassle over some Keflex etc. I did see 1 E.R. Doctor who did explain to a patient it was the flu, drink plenty of fluid take Ibuprophen for aches & pains & an OTC cold pill.

  2. Realbenzeyes @ Realbenzeyes: I just wish the opioid epidemic never happened. Fk the turn of the century (which would be cool no doubt)! Many of my friends and family would’ve ended up in asylums like so many others. I just wish I could get back all those I’ve lost since the start
  3. L @ Layne_Cobain: 1914 I meant
  4. L @ Layne_Cobain: I often wish I lived during the turn of the century or at least before the Harrison narcotics act or whatever I think it was 1924 the fun ended but anyway yeh being able to get laudanum, ❄️ and amphetamine at the local friendly pharmacy
  5. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Chew on the leaves with a bit of slaked lime and enjoy the mild boost you get from the raw base.
  6. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I’m sure you know the folks in the mountainous regions along South Americas pacific side buy cócà leaves at the local farmers market just to help acclimate to the higher elevation when they have to head up into the hills.
  7. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I would certainly have bought it, swilled it, enjoyed it…. Why not? A little boost in your juice isn’t going to hurt anyone.
  8. R @ Royboy99: Exports were reported to have around 7.2mg per FL OZ, it’s success is what actually led to Coca Cola
  9. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Having cramps and husband thinks you’re acting hysterical (ie. PMS) the doc would either perform a certain massage to relieve the strains of motherhood and family life of that time or send you down to the local apothecary for a bottle of laudanum… A tincture of alcohol and 10% òpìųm. Fun days huh?
  10. R @ Royboy99: @malestrom: yeah thats it, my bad Mariani, yeah i considered that and also its ROA, which was oral so the bioavailability was lower than insufflation, higher degree of purity tho and longer duration … there was a significant marked increase of patents filed by Edison during the time it was released in the US. Presidents were known to use it as well, and the Queen. The pope awarded the wine the Vatican gold medal award
  11. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I think it was called vin Mariani. But yeah, it was all the rave back in the turn to the 20th century. Original formula Coca Cola did it for a while too. I think it was pretty weak though. Something like 200 mg per liter of wine. Enough to maybe give you a little push but unless you could pound some serious alcohol, it’d be hard to really feel the effects before the ethyl knocked you down on the ground. It was an interesting time period. Laudanum was a “hysterical” woman’s best friend.
  12. R @ Royboy99: Maybe it’s the admixture of my South American dna that works so well with it ? 🤷
  13. R @ Royboy99: It’s all evident in memory recall, my emails, meetings, … people invest everything they have in a nootropic that provides this… desperately searching without success and it’s right there right under their nose (no pun) … stigmatized by society and outlawed.
  14. R @ Royboy99: Now I’m not foolish or delusional to think that it made Edison who he was … it just allowed him to Edison to Edison to a greater degree … and I see it doing that for me and others who use it as a productive tool and not a substance of abuse.. you can look at this data with the level of patents filed by Edison during that time … comparable to Barry bonds or McGuire breaking records while they were subtly enhanced
  15. R @ Royboy99: One could argue that we would not have motion pictures if it wasn’t for ❄️
  16. R @ Royboy99: I also take month long breaks and replace with Ritalin for receptor recovery
  17. R @ Royboy99: And while it may sound insane and completely destructive … small microdoses of ❄️ has really transformed me. I did extensive research on its use by Edison, the pope at the time, and many others who got great benefit from a wine concoction called vin Mariani … this subtle enhancement changed the world and as long its used with a high degree of control, it’s amazing. you may think I’m crazy … but I’m just being as transparent as I can
  18. R @ Royboy99: I’ve grown to realize that my time is finite and Im only getting older… I’m back to relying on small PRN doses of FDA trialed BZDs and it’s made tremendous improvements to my quality of life. I just need to get out there more and meet someone new, it’s the only piece that’s missing since I’ve managed to get it together
  19. R @ Royboy99: @LatsDoodis: thanks brother … I’ve spent months trying to put myself in uncomfortable places to grow stronger. Hours of research, thousands on supplements, therapy etc …
  20. LatsDoodis @ LatsDoodis: @Royboy99 You’re not yet lost. Cut them losses and do what you don’t want to do. Take the boring, shameful, nerve racking way out. It’s the only road back to balance. When you’re ready, you’ll do it. Hit me up if you want support quitting. This ain’t worth your life!
