Your house is ablaze, all humans and animals are safe.

Is there one thing you take with you as you flee?

My safe, containing my two favorite firearms, meds, stash of cash and critical documents like birth certificates, etc.

Actually, on second thought, I may have to reconsider that answer. The safe is fireproof, LOL. It'll survive either way.

Id leave everything and move my car into the garage, what good is insurance if youre not gonna use it?
LOL, a man after my own heart. Would have said that myself, but I was trying to think of something I'd actually take OUT of the house beyond the kids and the dogs / cats.

Nothing like a well timed catastrophe to bolster the old net worth!

Hellz yea my man. Anytime shit hits the fan theres a way to come out on top, you just gotta have the right perspective LOL. Hurricane Katrina comes to mind /default_rolleyes.gif

MSD.... have you considered scanning your photos?  Or if you have the negatives, there is a reverse scanner out there that will take a negative strip and turn it into digital photos?  Then put them all up in the cloud and use an external HD as back up for yourself>. Just a thought and happy Friday!  S-

Thanks for reminding me, my homeowners has to be paid soon. I hate this house but would need a storage shed to save all the stuff I'd really want to keep. In a pinch I'd throw the PC out the window and hope there's enough time to throw out some collectibles too.

Yes, we have certainly thought about it. However, it would take forever. My grandma, in her prime had a BEDROOM devoted to photo albums that she had stacked against the perimeters of the walls, waist high. Oh how I loved sitting with her looking through those old albums and the stories she shared. She ALWAYS had a camera with her and was taking pictures. I hated it at the time, but I'm SO thankful for it now.

Also, I hate to disturb some of the older images. I'd love to have them in a digital archive. But it's also really comforting to have her actual albums. She had some super retro looking ones /default_smile.png

My Hard drives. They have every piece of info from family pics to banking info etc. Those two (1) TB drives sure come in handy.  Gun(s) already in the car(s) so, yeah. At first, this comes to mind.
Twin TB's bay bay. Great minds DO think exactly alike. Boot one now, save one for later, LOL!

Yeah, I thought about it after saying I'd throw my PC tower out the window. The jarring would probably tear up my HDD. So best to grab my back up drive and  some chips to snack on while I watch it. With all the candles, lamp oil and kerosene in the hall closet it'll hopefully start on the other side, giving me time to get some collectibles out the spare BR before the closet blows up. Along with my meds and my shotgun to keep the firefighters away.

Perfect -- MM, you are just full of good ideas!  /default_smile.png

But I couldn't leave everything -- so if I have the chance, I'll grab my laptop & two sidearms that have great sentimental value, but that's only after I've rescued as many pieces of my kids' elementary school art work as possible; most of the paintings & drawings have been saved digitally, but I'd still hate to lose the originals. And treasures like the ceramic penguin family and the Sculpey clay tigers are irreplaceable...

luckily Im not a very sentimental person so Id have no problem at all losing everything. All the good pics are online, most of my money is in accounts and firearms aren't very scarce in my family LOL so I wouldn't shed a tear watching everything I own go ablaze. I quit smoking awhile back but Id probly want a cig while I stand in my front yard watching the house burn down....idk I just honestly cant think of anything besides the fam that Id really care about saving

Considering the vendor crisis we're having at the moment, I'll be saving my vikings.

  10. Alkazar @ Alkazar: I dont know how to direct reply to people on here. But the Canada Post strike will affect any mail coming from the US. It will be held at a facility until the striek is over. Mail that is being sent from CAD to the US will just not be picked up. It all has to be private delivery services now.

  18. LW815 @ LW815: @Alkazar would that effect snail mail arriving to the US from CA in any impactful way?
