I started taking 30mg of oxy IR 2x a day for acute pain for my knee.. It is working great so far, but I was curious how long till i would get physically dependant, at that dose? I dont feel like i need more for it to work...im trying to be careful with opiates, but it it is really helping the pain. I would like to order another 20 tabs, but before i order, i would love anykind of feedback about physical tolerance athis dose...thanks so much

Mental dependencies and physical dependencies are two different things.  Most D0ct0rts, my random acquaintance, has dealt with like to keep 0p!@t3s as short as possible, but are reluctant to go over 3 months.  So I would say based on that, 3 months would be about where one would start to become physically dependent if that had been taking them regulary.  Mental dependicies come at different times for different people.  For my random acquaintance it's almost instantaneous.  Once he's written the first scr!pt, he can at any time tell you how many are in the bottle, when the net d0se is available, how many refills (if any), and the date of the next refill.  He's preoccupied with the whole thing.  The desire can last for along time.

On the physical side withdrawl for most people is pretty much over in 6 days.  The body is no longer dependent on the substance.  The desire could literally last a lifetime.   Tolerance is going to occur with any substance as the body gets used to have it onboard.  Take more, tolerance will go up, take more again, tolerance will go up.  It becomes like a dog chasing his tale.

I'm not trying to be a kill joy, just making the point, there is no free lunch.  You always end up paying.

I agree with skinny2x. However, I may have missed it but how long have you been taking opi8's thus far ? In my own personal experiences I have had been prescribed Vics and percs on separate occasions due to a bad knee injury which unfortunately took 3 weeks to get surgery due to the timing of my injury (happened during the week before Christmas). so unfortunately for me I was on pain meds way too long....about 7 months. Around the 2nd month I noticed a physical change within myself first thing in the morning if I didn't take my morning dose. by July my physical therapist recommended that I cease the narcotic pain meds and switch to plain ibuprofen because he was worried it interfered with my physical recovery. He worked in same building as my orthopedic Dr who immediately switched me from percs to some sort of anti-inflammatory med and ibuprofen. went into withdrawals physically almost immediately, but that only lasted a week. the mental part was the hardest which led me to seeking help through a psychiatrist and going on subutex therapy.

Thanks for your input....a few weeks ago the dr gave me an rx for percs 5/325 about 12 pills...my injury has not gotten better and i am waiting for my insurance to kick in so i can get surgery.....in the meantime, last tuesday i got 30mg rocs, from a vendor popular in sy forum...i just put in another order for 20 more tabs, and plan on not going over 45mg a day. Im really not supposed to take tylenol at all, which why the percs is a problem.

My personal experience with dependence varies.  I just recently tapered from about 5 viKes a day to 0 and went without for 8 days.  I had been taking them consistently for about 3-4 months with a few 3-4 day breaks in between.  I have found that it only takes about a month of consistent use (for me) to build up a physical dependence.   I have conquered a few demons (the big C) in my day so the mental dependence (for me) is not really an issue.   The desire is there but I can easily talk myself out of ordering or seeking the viKes.   The most recent break I took, which lasted 8 days, was fairly painless.   I did lack energy, but I have a friend that I swap KB for adDies and they really helped me through that time period.  Other than the lethargy I really had no other symptoms......I did have one miserable night of little sleep, but that was only one night.  I am in really good physical shape, have few aches and pains so my use is 98.5%  recreational  (don't judge please).   I realize this is just my personal experience, but I think a month is about right for most people.

From my experience, it doesn't take very long to potentially become physically (and mentally) dependant on r0xsis. Another issue is tolerance: it builds up rather quickly; even if just taking for pain. It's probably a good idea to proceed with caution.

I agree with ainthouse.  About 98% recreational.  If I have to take them for pain it's a kill joy.  I'd rather take a couple !bupr0ph3ns and go to bed. Save the good stuff for a time when I can relax and enjoy.

I'd much rather enjoy the full affect.  Keep in mind,,,,,  Being the DR, the Patient, and the Pharmacists is about insane as it come.  Patient says, this is not quite cutting it tonight.  the dR says a second dose is in order, the pharmacist is more than willing to fill the scr!pt.  Now if that's not f....ing crazy, I don't know what is.  If you missed the point we are all three.

Be careful out there socio chemisr, it only takes once to end up on the brown side of the grass.
