How to taper off painkillers without terrible w/d symptoms?

so I was prescribed Perkies for neck pain 4 years ago. When they stopped working, I started Taking Ox See 20s.  I have been taking 2 to 5 a day for the last 4 years.

I really want to taper off.  I'm not psychologically addicted. The only reason I keep taking them is because when I don't I have terrible leg cramps at night, sometimes body aches during the day and the worst part is this sense of helplessness or depression.  I've been scouring the internet and every website tells you that its a good idea for you to taper and talk to your doctor, yada yada, but I can't find anything that tells you HOW exactly to taper, how much to lower a dose by and how long to take the lowered dose, etc? Can someone give me some good insight on how to stop without having muscle aches and depression?

I would personally try to cut your dose by 10-20% each week. Also, get some comfort meds such as:

* Clonidine

* Diphenhydramine

* Loperamide

* Cyclobenzaprine

and of course Tylenol or ibuprofen for muscle aches.

Wishing you luck!

In addition to what @never2many said you can try taking Kratom.  That's the one OTC that really helped me more than anything else.

Akuamma- kappa agonist

wild lettuce- very mild but worth buying

of course kratom is useful as well.

There are many resources online with the same info but I don’t see the others mentioned much.

Also, iboga interests me greatly but certainly not for everyone

If you can get Suboxone and take it in small doses , it does help tremendously for all w/d

the issue is will a person become addicted to it ? That I have no answer for ...  I ha e had to force w/d a few times and tiny bits of subs helped . Once I cleared the sub then my tramadol started working well again... but all in all I still am not ready or praying I can stay on some form of  oxy at small timed and spaced out amounts... but if and when a person is ready I think a slow taper with subs can help

Can go the subs/methadone route. But that can cause more problems.  Just use enough to keep the wd away. Now this option is only good of you want to stop and stay off for a while.. if you use it to keep wd away until you can reup then i wouldn't advise this option. Just my 2cents

I’ve found all the guides to not really reduce the unpleasantness of it to any reasonable degree. I’d recommend something for anxiety, a lot of immodium, some ensures to drink, and an externally empty schedule. I’d rent a hotel for 3 days that has a big hot tub (or stay at home if you have a big tub) and just suffer it out by hoping between the tub and the bed. I’ve heard promising things about using dissociatives while kicking, but I can’t say I’ve tried it myself.  Best of luck man.

There's know getting away from the unpleasantness of short acting op8's or any op8 for that matter. You could use a little mdone 10ml or around that to ease the symptoms. Try not to use every day or you will be in a worse situation then you are already.

 I wouldn't use subys when withdrawing you would make it worse because you are still using your oxy and it all up in your system. You got to be in full blown withdrawal and nothing in your system to go on subys.

Never used kratom for withdrawal but it would be a weaker version of using mdone and probably easier to get hold off then mdone. Unless you got a connection for that.

Gabapetina 800mg every 8 hours takes almost ALL pain of withdrawal, except you can do nothing but stay in bed, zombie like.

I spent 5 years 24/7 nonstop on 500mg morph a day and then tampered 20% down per month with one day per week on Gabapetina, after which my body is happy to get anything even 5% less per week.

Substitute some 100mg morph with buprenorfine patches when you are under 200mg of whatever. Make Buprenorfine the last substance to cut down to zero.

@takingiteasy Does gabaetina only help with the pain? Does it help you get sleep, stop the RLS and body temperature fluctuations? If it did i could put up with lying in bed like a zombie watching Netflix and smoking green.

Gabapentin definitely helps with RLS! If you are just taking it at night i find staggering the dose to be most helpful.  Like if you need to take 900mg, taking 300mg every 40 minutes makes it work better than taking it all at once.  Also eating something fatty beforehand helps as does taking it with selzer water.

Yes,everything you said works.. I have a few gabas, and im waiting to start tapering my opiods. But, hard to do taper when i have them, but that is the best time to taper.  I stockpiled gabapentin over last year. Because they are a scheduled  med in about six USA states!!! So, if you can get them legit folks, get them now!! And staggering the doses is important.  As the way body metabilizes the gpentin

I've tried hard detox and I was sure to die, with gabapetina I'm just tired and zero energy with 18 sleep. all good.

i've been thinking about this gpentin for op8 withdrawal. Does it have the same crazy withdrawal symptoms as pregabs? If you were to use it to come of mdone would you get withdrawals from gpentin because you would have to use it for a long time for coming of mdone. I've done a pregab withdrawal. Although it's not as bad as a mdone withdrawal. Its still a nightmare. Just wondering if it's jumping from the fire back into the frying pan?

The longest i've taken Gabapentin daily was for a few months for a bout of trigeminal neuralgia (worse pain ever) and the only withdrawal symptoms i experienced was some difficulty falling asleep and some rebound anxiety.  I did taper to get off.  Not sure if that's a normal withdrawal experience or not.

I have not noticed any addictive potential in Gabapetina.

A true addict can get himself killed with water (no joke) but Gababetina is zero fun.

When I detoxed I used Gaba and it did not do much for me.  I honestly think if you can switch over to trams and taper that way you will be relatively symptom free.  I took baclofen, gaba and trazodone and not much helped.   I didnt eat for 4 days and had zero energy.   It was a pain but and uncomfortable but I cant imagine going cold turkey.  Kratom helps but you build a tolerance to that quickly and you have to have multiple strains.   Honestly there is no easy way to do it but there are things that take away the worst issues.   I tried every supplement under the sun and some helped more than others but I couldnt sleep, couldnt eat and all I did was watch the World Cup all day long.   Tapering is the best way to go but it requires a significant amount of meds to pull it off.   Good luck with whatever method you choose.

The keyword is slowly! If you’re on one of the big guns like morfeen or oxC, the most  painless method of titrating off is to reduce by 10% - 15% each week and then as another friend here suggested swapping over to trams once you get your daily down to a small amount.

I broke my back at 10 in a car accident and have been on Rx for 36 years, I’ve had 22 surgeries and I’ve spent pretty much most of my life becoming  dependent, weaning off only to end up having another surgery & starting the cycle all over again.  I will never get off them completely, but at times have been prescribed amounts that are mind blowing  for long periods of time, but have been able to go from example 600 mg of morfeen a day down to 100 without much trouble  at all using the above method (which was my doctors idea - not mine). However as mentioned above, it also does require a significant supply to accomplish this.  Best of luck to you my friend !

  1. Candyshop @ Candyshop: how you feeling Maol last we sold just making sure your good anything I can go
  2. moai @ moai: @CalFresh Nah it doesn’t hurt to me but some ppl complain abt it, but I do 200mg per pin. So if you wanted a higher dose than that each I’d do multiple spots. Also I only recently got gluta from somewhere that wasn’t pharma grade, and these don’t even hurt either.
  3. moai @ moai: @neurowoot Bro no offense but that protocol seems so cope. Why aren’t you just on TRT?
  4. D @ drdrizzy13: I started going slightly grey in high school
  5. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: I'm 35 with a full head of hair so very grateful. I take that shit serious haha.
  6. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: Enclopmiphene raised me to 800s and I did gailn more muscle but nothing compared to 150mg.T. I don't have male pattern baldness as neither of my older brothers are, and our mom's dad had a full head of hair which is where the gene comes from. I just found the minimal effective dose that also gave me the look I like and I've had no estrogen issues or acne. But there's always aromasin and accutane
  7. N @ neurowoot: Layne_Cobain, slightly cheaper option, has an okay success rate... HCG and Kisspeptin, alternating days (mostly). Brought me from 319 to 540. Not the worst. HCG specifically helps with balls volume haha
  8. L @ Layne_Cobain: I’ve always had severe anxiety also but I think the chronically low t (125 total) for 5 plus years now is making it worse…did trt help you with anxiety or depression if you had any of that?
  9. L @ Layne_Cobain: @tiquanunderwood did the enclomiphene not do much for yah? Yeah it’s not so much being on it for life as the side effects-shrinking nuts, hair loss, infertility exc
  10. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: But if you're afraid of inj3cting or being on it for life, once I started it I was more than cool with being on it forever. I feel so much fucking better.
  11. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: I used enclomiphene for a few months, then hopped on TRT a few years ago at 32. 0p1ates destroyed my endocrine system, even while off them for over a year my T levels were about 150 ng/dl. TRT best decision I ever made, and $200 covers the whole year for me. Excluding bloodwork of course.
  12. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: Think you've had enough :) Happy almost Friday everyone!
  13. MrFuszy @ MrFuszy: Grab some dope*
  14. MrFuszy @ MrFuszy: Dude when did my life change From going down the steet to grab some sbkrz to scoring from Switzerland, Poland, Austria, Spain, EU -_-
  15. MrFuszy @ MrFuszy: Load*
  16. MrFuszy @ MrFuszy: Someone loae me w bowl of GO
  17. MrFuszy @ MrFuszy: Hey wait not with ou4 me
  18. L @ Layne_Cobain: @TheNinez thanks bro I think I’m gonna give it a go even tho it’s quite expensive but if it can make me feel much better it’s worth it
  19. CalFresh @ CalFresh: @moat I considered it but the recommended doses sound huge for IM. Doesn't it hurt like a MF to inject so muich? I remember getting a PCN shot at the local planned parenthood long long ago and even that little amoutn had me sore for a couple days
