hydroxizine chloride

Didn't really work for me. It put  me to sleep. Sorry I can't help more. I'd give it try though. It might help you.

It does a great job of taking the edge off. At first it will most likely knock you out until you take it a few times to get used to it.

@JillyQM   I have some in the medicine cabinet.  I will take one tonight and let you know my findings.  Its an antihistamine which should make you drowsy so I am not sure what the affects are in regards to anxiety.    I will let you know!

I have it prescribed to me for allergies.  I take it at night so i don't take too much pseudofed.  It does make you drowsy, and I find that it relieves anxiety some too.  it can also be used as a potentiator for other things.

I took one last night and it pretty much put me to sleep.  It definitely made me drowsy and I was not awake long enough to be anxious!

The brand names are Atarax and Vistaril. A lot of our patients are given it for hives.(antihistamine effect)  It makes you drowsy, with some saying they are knocked out for 2 days! It used to be given with Demerol injections years ago (for migraines) for nausea and the potentiator of opiate. And of course prescribed for anxiety as well as diphenhydramine (benadryl). I was told to take it for anxiety once, doc didn't want to give me benzo, I'm sure it helps people, but for me it just puts me to sleep. (hey, not anxious when I'm sleeping! lol)

@brandon74

That's true!, found some halcion I stashed away so it's helping with sleep.

I wish I was lying about taking that many ksalol but I unfortunately am not. Believe me or not I have no reason to lie.

Yea, I've had issues with benzo abuse for over a decade. Been in rehab 3 times for it. I really hope I don't sound like I'm bragging. Trying something new,going a different route. My psych just got rx'ed vyvance (used to be adderall, which I HATE) and am gonna try to stop the little blue guys. Maybe just hide them somewhere and find them in a few years lol. First day of vyvance and feeling good, not speedy an not craving any food or med :)

I was prescribed propanolol also, for a non nacartic anxiety med. It didn't work either. But some people find it help, my psych said alot of public speaker's use it because it helps with physical symptoms of anxiety...

I have tried both compounds Vistaril and Atarax - for whatever the reason Atarax +Gabapencil worked wonders for sleep/anxiety. Not like xanax or klonopin though.

I was prescribed this for anxiety but didn't work and only gave me a very dry mouth the next day.

I noticed too that I felt very out of it for about the first 4 hours of the day after taking it at 930 in the evening.  I dont think my body tolerates antihistamines too well and this one is particularly strong.   I think I will use sparingly as I dont like how it makes me feel.

How is it for allergies?

  12. xenxra @ xenxra: @Poppycock i can't recall if this popped up when I did my order however it's letting me bypass that section of checkout by just toggling "None" on the 3 marked checkboxes. Worst case scenario they just refund you after checkout. I would just try that if you really need it for medical purposes. My gut is telling me this is what I had to do but like I said, i can't recall 100%
  13. T @ timyboy: Fax?? geeesh are they still living in the 80s there
  14. P @ Poppycock: @xenxra thanks but when I get to the checkout section there’s a “medical history” section and there’s a line that says “fax or email your prescription to us”. Are they just putting that there to protect themselves? Or have their changed to now require prescription?
