Is It Just Me or Has Dispensary Weed Become a Total Scam?
Real talk I’ve been a medical patient for a minute now and lately every time I walk out of a dispensary I feel like I just got hustled. Like I went in there with a legitimate need, handed over real money, and walked out with something that barely does the job with a HEAVY prescription and then my recs of script are as high as they can be. I get 28KMG inhalation (roughly an ounce of wax or 20 carts) 4OZ flower and 2KMG in edible, topical, tincture, oral sublingual..which is just 5 tinctures, 10 edibles etc every 90 days!?And I know I’m not alone in this…

Let me explain what I thinks actually going on because there IS science behind why this keeps happening and we’re getting FUCKED

The Terpene Problem
Most people think THC percentage is the whole game. The dispensaries KNOW this, so they breed and market everything around high THC numbers. But here’s the thing research, including studies out of the University of Colorado, has shown that THC percentage alone is a poor predictor of how potent or effective a strain actually feels. What actually drives the experience is the terpene profile is the aromatic compounds that work alongside cannabinoids to produce effects. This is called the entourage effect, a term coined by researcher “Ethan Russo”. 🧑‍🔬

When cannabis is mass cultivated at scale, dried too fast, stored too long, or sits in a jar under harsh lighting the terpenes degrade. What you’re left with is high-THC flower that hits flat, gives you a headache, and has you questioning everything it’s nowhere good as like 2008 drow man…so my theory.
Commercial Cultivation is Cutting Corners
A lot of what’s on dispensary shelves is grown in massive warehouse operations optimized for yield and visual appeal not quality. Heavy feeding schedules, plant hormones fr Higher yields and THC content, premature harvesting, improper curing. The cure alone can make or break a batch. Proper curing takes weeks and preserves the terpene and cannabinoid integrity. Most commercial ops aren’t doing that. They’re flipping product fast and letting it cure for a day then ship it and let it cure in the store on the shelves…

ALSO !!!! There’s also the pesticide issue. A 2019 study published in Talanta found detectable pesticide residues in a significant portiogğn of commercially produced cannabis products. Some states test for it. Many don’t test nearly well enough OR AT ALL! You’re literally paying a premium to potentially inhale garbage that will long-term harm your health.
And then The Price Gouging Layer they have the nerve to charge $60-70 an eighth for mid. The actually decent stuff, if a dispensary even carries it, is locked behind $75-90 price points like it’s exclusive “khalifa” or “binske” “jungle boys” and so on…Meanwhile the black market has been running better cured, better smelling, better tasting product for half the price for years. The dispensary model was supposed to fix that. Instead it just added a tax, a logo, and a waiting room. 800/year fr doctor and script, 150 for the registry and then taxes….
The patients who actually need this medicinally chronic pain, anxiety, sleep disorders, PTSD, depression the list goes on.. WE deserve better instead of flashy packaging and inflated numbers. We deserve honest terpene profiles, proper sourcing transparency, and pricing that doesn’t assume we’re all made of money.
Do your research, look for dispensaries that actually post full COAs including terpene breakdowns, and stop chasing the highest THC number on the shelf. That number is marketing. The terpenes are the medicine.

Lmk we all think am I wrong? Am I right am I misleading? Please is your thoughts. Very welcome! :)

There’s cannabinoids that are not recognized by mainstream science! They keep all the secret because they’re going to use on in the pharmaceutical world. I noticed and I can give you an example of like Thai Stick you know thai 16% THC maybe 18 at the best and get you higher than any 30% THC cannabis I know of so the only answer to that is there must be a cannabinoid within that that we are not familiar with. It doesn’t take a six year old to figure that out.
It’s not as obvious in the polyhybrid world as it was in the regular hybrid, world or land race. It was even more obvious within the land race, world of genetics.

The truth is medical patients like us have become a burden to “Big Marijuana”. Dispensaries don’t want to cater to us and states don’t want to give out med cards when they can get your 25% + tax dollars on every purchase. I got my Medcard on my 18th birthday on 4/20 almost a decade ago and so much has changed since then. Basically all the medical dispensaries have closed down and become recreational only, and will just give you a 10 or 15% discount for their garbage product. The truth is it’s just big tobacco #2. There are a few good companies left and a few good brands but I’m finding myself going more and more out of my way to simply get a decent medicine that doesn’t cost $30+ a gram. I hear you man.
