Is it safer to transfer btc to a wallet?

Just wondering. I usually buy btc and then transfer to a wallet. But that is double fee charge. My wallet also let's me buy btc. I wouldn't have to transfer and wait for it to be approved. Is this a good idea? Just your thoughts about this. Would it be easier to track the uses of the btc? Thanks everyone. Stay safe out there!

 
I do use coinbase and transfer to a wallet. I'll look into meta mask. Thanks for the info!

 
I say yes, it's safer. My fees are very small both ways. I hear so many horror stories when paying directly from the app you purchase. 

Having said that, I am not the expert. I tried about a half-dozen apps and finally found my perfect combo. 

 
Yeah. I feel it is safer also. I was just thinking about saving a couple of dollars. I think I'll keep doing it the way I am. Thanks for all the feedback.

BTC just won't be adopted by governments because the transactions are too public and what's worse, money that is freshly minted is better than money that has been used. Like if my btc was used for something that was illegal does that mean the money is "poisoned"?
