Greetings DBG Community,

I would like to open a discussion about microdosing benzos. A decade ago I had abused them and haven't touched any for several years. Recently I've found myself in situations where anxiety overwhelms me to the point I need a whole bar. Other times I feel I could survive a 2 hour interaction with only half a milli...Im waiting for my next batch to try out cutting tablets and weighing out smaller doses whenever the need for it arrives. I would rather start my levels low to keep well balanced and learn how much I need to take to get through my day...Has anyone tried microdosing alprazolam or anything similar? Please share your experience(s).

Thanks for reading. Stay Safe.

I use benzos in larger dosages but only one or twice per week.
Sometimes I spend a week to a month clean from any benzo.
They are great for stressful moments but I don't wan to make a habit of coping with them. RARELY. to me, that is recreationally. Micro-dosing sounds like a way to dependence and addiction.

I have been experimenting with this. I have found for me (and I believe everybody reacts differently) that a 0.25mg dose twice a day (morning and evening) makes my life livable. I have not tried it for an extented period yet.

Addiction can be a massive problem. Don't undertake a long term program until you have experimented. Some examples for me included getting a reliable supplier (love this site and vendors!), just the right dose and best time to take it. How many days before withdrawal symptoms happen when I stop, cold turkey withdrawal can be harsh, tapering is the best way but harder when you are using such small amounts in the first place. I am still in the stages of taking it for 3 to 4 days then 3 to 4 days off. I am being very careful about addiction. I have easily given up things in the past when they have started to become a problem (except smoking) but I have no idea if that is going to be the case with this.

Also for background I have used this over a few years in much higher doses to get me through some really bad days. I suffer depression, anxiety and BPD.

Feel free to ask me any questions and I too would like to hear about others experience.

Blessings be.

Blackdog... I am seriously considering going to the same .25mg Benzo dose, 2X/day, either lorazapam or Alprazolam, for my long term anxiety problems...  I have spoken with a psych medical assistant who claims that this dosage, or even a bit more... can be taken pretty much indefinitely... and that Benzos are the only medication that really works for anxiety... others may help, but she claims Benzos are the gold standard...

MANY physicians of all kinds would disagree... I know... and getting hooked would indeed be a nightmare, from what I have read... still... I think from my experience and reading... that SSRI drugs can be "addicting" too, in terms of REALLY difficult to get off of... and of uncertain duration ("poop-out)...  natural remedies are just not enough...

I am seriously considering two MAOI drugs, Parnate and Nardil, based on the far more positive reviews they receive online... yes, some nasty dietary restrictions would have to be CLOSELY watched... though several have claimed they are not as bad as some think...  and some have been successful with Kratom... though it tends to give me headaches the next morning and possibly, heart palpitations... which my anxiety tends towards anyway...

Any feedback/advice would be welcomed!

Hi AZJJ,

Interesting to read about the dose and being taken indefinitely. Did the psych medical assistant say anymore? Had they ever seen it used successfully and what was the patients original diagnosis?

I have been battling for such a long time..... something needs to really change and I have been down all the conventional routes with limited success.

I tried SSRI drugs with little success and ended up on an SNRI that at the time felt like a small miracle! I would never dissuade anybody from going down the conventional route first and it got me to a much better place with the depression.

I am currently a week into a full blown detox from pretty much everything (except nicotine, damn nicotine!). I figured if I was going to do this I wanted to start from the best place possible. I also wanted to make sure I was clean from Alprazolam and not starting off with an addiction to it in the first place.

Over the next week I am going to dive down some rabbit holes and see what further information I can find about micro dosing. I will post an update with anything I think may be useful.

We can battle everyday but over weeks, months, years it takes its toll. For disclosure I am an advocate of all the 'normal' routes of dealing with mental health. I have followed the medication advice of doctors and psychiatrists. I have undertaken CBT and DBT. All of these things have helped me. However....

I will post updates and any info that might be useful. Would be great to hear updates from you!

I thought I should add to this discussion I have tried micro dosing diazepam. I very quickly found I needed a higher dose and can eat those things like smarties! I haven't found this experimenting with alprazolam so far.

Stay safe in these interesting times.

I would suggest something else. Can you tray some herbs and some powerful teas in first . Replace sometimes with alcohol if you can drink it, drink more red wine but quality ones.

If this don't work go on benzo. These fucking pills act as devils pills and have control over your life. This is rare story to hear somebody that quit and this is filling me with hope that I might end them as well.
