@Clarissa

My general knowledge is Very basic , I was mostly using TOR , Proton VPN and btc. Honestly Ive been too dependant on them and need to learn more but yeah linux sounds like Id be giving myself a headahce if it isnt totally nessary for me lol

Id totally be down to test each others PGP I think thats a great idea! Whenever we get some time maybe we can all join in.
@Whoopiegoldburgg222 Linux is good to learn if you want to get into Systems Administration or Computer Science/Programming stuff like that.  It gives you greater control over the OS at a lower-level.  I mean if you're interested in TOR and are going to be exploring it more, you will eventually need to install and use TAILS which is a type of Linux Debian OS distribution.

Yeah when we have time we can either start a new PGP thread or see if there is an existing one that isn't too cluttered up.

@Whoopiegoldburgg222 i know!! i was like I pretty sure this money is more useful somewhere else!!!
@DoomKitty I'm sure they can say "National Security" as an excuse to get a HUGE black budget for these types of things.  $600k is pretty cheap considering the outcome.  Microsoft pays out $200k for bounties and the results don't help catch criminals or stop human-trafficking. It's not our problem the government only hires Ivy League button-up grads with a perfect background check.

The FBI has to find more criminals to keep itself going and be able to get as much in the FBI budget as possible.  This has to happen or else everyone will start losing their jobs and running amok.  As far as who they hire, it is almost always people who are bobbleheads, Ivy League or not, and people who have friends or relatives who also work for the govt.  They also hire people who will not have the guts to file complaints pursuant to the No FEAR Act which is supposed to protect whistleblowers and investigate discrimination and retaliation.  This law is almost never enforced.  Sorry, this is kind of off topic, but I find it interesting that whistleblowers in high places are finally coming forward recently.  It is incredibly brave of them.

@Handsley Yeah well the bobbleheads are the reason why the gov't needs to spend $600k on a bug bounty.  Another common hiring practice seems to be blackmailing hackers a.k.a. Sabu facing a sentence of 124 years in prison vs. turning FBI informant.

You got it.  You have to be pretty high in whatever "organization" for the govt to offer you anything in return except lesser charges or lesser sentence.  Most of the time they leave the informants high and dry, and after they serve their sentence, they go home unprotected and open to anyone that would harm them.
