I have probably used every transaction with dbg vendors at mg locations. I was in a bad car accident and i am homebound, so cant really get to a location (closest about 30 miles from me) i am interested to know if anyone uses moneygram online? Is it safe? Pls lmk your experiences

I have made probably 100 mg transfers online in the past year, either using credit cards or my bank and I have never had any issues whatsoever. I know some peysay they always get denied but I have not.

ok so yesterday I dumbly decided to go WU on a back to back order with D. I was closer and the last 3 times no issues. First went to the WU at grocery Giant Eagle. they put in country_then state..which many of us know 3 words would not accept it. she tried 3 different splellings. I was in a hurry and said will try later,

So that eve went to the other WU at Krogers where i go usually. Same thing wouldnt except the state or city. It only gave use 10 choices and would not allow manual entry of the one I needed.

My suspesion is either they have blocked me or all from sending to that part of Mex. Strange, Next day back to Wally world mg i go...

So much for saving time ....

i had 2 successful transaction with my registered MG account, than they dont let me anymore. SO i just use MG ONLINE BUT AS GUEST, I DONT LOG INTO MY MG ACCOUNT, WORKED GOOD PAST 3 TIMES

You totally just made me feel better about a recent transaction. Thanks for that Fargo!

Would like to share my experience - I tried to pay via moneygram online and put all correct info- got an email saying I needed to call them to complete transaction so I did and they kept asking questions like what is my relationship to the person I'm sending money to and what is the money being used for. Freaked me out begin a newbie and all so I jut cancelled the whole thing and shook the rest of the day hoping I wasn't in trouble... worst feeling.. always do it in person is what I learned.

I think they are way tighter than they used to be.  Maybe @Fargo doesn't have problems because of his long history, but every new member who tries it seems to get denied.

I would not waste my time trying unless you have already been using it successfully. Go in person and the chance of getting denied is very low.

I have a vendor that I haven't ever worked with and isn't part of this community. Looking for advice....

They have product I'm looking for and said they will send the product to me and as soon as I receive I can give them the reference number.  Is that a smart idea? Seems like a safe way to protect my $$. But doesn't seem like a way for the vendor to protect themselves. Seems too good to be true. What do you think @2earls??

I was banned from MG online yesterday when I tried to do a transaction for just over 500.  Today I can't login.  I have lots of transaction, but not as many as  @Fargo .  it really makes you wonder what sets them off.  I'm thinking about trying the guest option.  Thanks @Def_Starr.  But then if that doesn't work they will grab another 500 to sit in pending transaction in my account until it falls off.  Guess i'll just go to the store, and try this another time when i have different name to send to.  Really bummed about this major inconvenience.  I just hate going to the store.

thanks for the info ALL!!!

I sent today using the automated kiosk and for the first time ever I had to enter my DL number in.   I am not overly concerned because I have an extensive ordering history so the damage has been done.  I am just amazed at all new crackdowns since the man with the bad hair has taken office.   It seems like everything is getting harder and we are reverting back to the 80s with that asshat in the AGs office and the big asshat with the bad hair.

Thanks @aintnouse.  i didn't even know they had automated kiosks!  I think the time has come for some of our favorite vendors to start taking BTC!  whatever happened to less regulation?  Anyhow, thanks for the info and laughs!

I sent MG today.  I always go to the local brick and mortar.  Never had issues...but this time they did ask for my Driver's License!!! that was a first!!  I didn't ask her why.

I unfortunately may have to agree with ainthouse.  but I hope your wrong!!

@margie123, That actually happened to me once before. I think it was because I sent and had to cancel like 3 times that day. And all of a sudden I could not log in. I gave it afew months and thought, what the hell? And called them . I just said " My account is locked". The broken English speaking agent said they needed to verify some information. Nothing about who or why I was sending money to, but security stuff based on info I guess they find on their own like have you ever lived at such and such address, if yes, which one, about 10 minutes later I was sending online again. Maybe call them and see if they do the same to you. What have you got to lose?

@hjk  Depending on when the particular location upgrades the MG software, regulations/laws will start to update.  MG implemented DLs being needed about 6-8 months ago.  It sounds like the location you went to finally implemented the updates or implemented the policy.  No cause for concern, it's absolutely normal.  But, for those who may have lost their DL or ID, it is a good reminder that upgrades are moving across more locations.

One more thing to add, even though my online account was locked, I was still able to go to a brick and mortar location and transfer always went through.

@2earls & @Admin...apologies, this post should probably be in the next section below in the thread.

I’ve been using MG brick and mortar in my town now for about 6-7 months. The last 2 were denied on the recvr end. One instantaneously as I was at the counter, the other a few days later when I received an email from the v€n that his new rcvr was blocked. He’s asked me to do CIM, I’m cool with that.

I really think, and I could be mistaken, especially in the SY section, that the multiple recvr changes throw a flag. Fortunately, I have my main SY that allows me to donate WU to the same recvr every time, never been an issue. Seems MG is on the crack down. Time to get on he btc train...

I had a similar problem with WU in the past. I didn't complete creating my WU online account. I don't vthink they were happy about that, so when I went to a WU brick and mortar store, they declined my transaction without any reason ?

@Fargo and @BellaDonna yes, the brick and mortar worked.  I use a few phone numbers at the biggest store, and they look me up by the phone number. I vary the spelling of my name, and they don't check id's well, so they don't catch it.  Usually don't even ask for ID.  I'll have to remember to check back with MG in a few months.  I was blocked from WU after just a few times.  I called them, and they wouldn' t tell me anything.  It's not looking good for these money services! WU is much worse than MG, in my opinion.

  1. CalFresh @ CalFresh: Thanks everyone. My family and I are safe ATM. @mellowella thank you, but they cleaned me out. the shelves are empty but I'm hoping to call in some favors to restock ASAP. @xenxra I will reach out to set up a secure comms channel for us. Thanks again all. Yesterday was tough, but the support I've received from those I can share is with has been a Godsend.
  2. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: Mad love to you and your family @CalFresh
  3. xenxra @ xenxra: @CalFresh if you are able to DM me (in a secure manner) the transactions associated with your btc theft, i can look into that part for you at least. i;m still 99% certain if the fbi didn't discard my leads they could have gotten some of my coins back and considering you had your coins stolen within the us, you have a much better chance of recovery than me. unless they went through mixers i could probably trace them myself.
  4. O @ Outsider9173: @CalFresh Haven't been here long but I want to wish you a fast recovery

  10. mellowella @ mellowella: @CalFresh are you and your family safe? You’ve helped me in a pinch and were more than generous, and I’m sure you’ve helped others. How can we help you? Does it help at all if we completely buy out what’s left? Maybe that gives time and funds to restock and rebuild? I don’t want to break any rules here, but please let us know if we can do anything. All on your time of course.
  11. CalFresh @ CalFresh: thanks guys. I'm pulling together what I have left and leaning on the kindness of folks who support me to restock my shelves so that I can keep the lights on. Having my savings drained and my security vanish in an instant is paralyzing and the repercussions will only be realized in the coming days and weeks. for now I'm just trying to stay focused on the immediate priorities for ensuring this doesn't. cause cataclysmic failure to the life I've built for my children and I.
  12. H @ hotdog45: @CalFresh hey man if I can do anything, anything at all to help you get back on your feet let me know. Truly my heart goes out to you. I sent you an email also

  17. CalFresh @ CalFresh: friends, about a few hours ago my home was invaded by two punk thugs with guns. They stole everything I had in my home: cash, electronics, and mags, and forced me to transfer $20K in Bitcoin. it is a huge loss and I'm still reeling trying to figure out what i.can do to recover. For now I'm just trying to secure what little I have left so they can't take anything else. I'm telling you guys cause theres not many others I can tell. please bare w/ me, it'll take a few days to get back up and running
  18. CnC5 @ CnC5: @xenxra awesome
