My biggest concern

Hello everyone,

I think the members here have a wide variety of political views. I am not joining discussions about politics, because I think it only leads to unnecessary stress.

But here is my biggest concern. Usually the two major parties in the USA hold opposing views on a subject, and laws get tighter and looser depending what party has the most power.

There's one exception: drugs. I don't mean medical marijuana. But both parties want to implement more control and more regulations. Maybe for different reasons, but the result is the same: the laws only get stricter. Here both parties work together and pull the load in the same direction. Also both parties want more control over our money transactions, our purchases and expenses, etc.

I personally think it's not going to end well: in some states even people with terminal cancer have problems getting adequate pain management. There're talks about scheduling Gabapentin, which will cause even more unnecessary suffering. Scheduling tramadol was stupid enough, but Gabapentin with its low toxicity and a great safety profile?

I think both elephants and donkeys are pulling us to a deep pool of pain. Because they don't use the same healthcare services we do. Because overdose deaths are easily calculated and give a basis to demonize opioids, and other meds too, just in case. Because shorter lives, lower functionality, raising alcohol consumption among patients suffering from chronic pain are much more difficult to present as numbers and graphs. Because no numbers or graphs can reflect suffering.

I totally agree with you on all points.  Our wonderful government is trying to exert more and more control over us; basically, our elected officials were voted in to represent, not rule!  This whole "opioids epidemic" was created in order to control us more.  Go to the cdc website and really check the stats. The stats they use when talking about all the deaths from opiod overdoses include heroin and illegal, synthetic drugs.  Take those away and were left with a very small percentage of deaths from legal, prescribed drugs.  The end result is media attention to a made up epidemic, more government control, and people in pain unable to get the drugs they need.  Thanks Congress for making my life miserable.

  4. N @ necromedic: It was, indeed, and very soft. Would almost flow through your hands on a hot day.
  5. Mom&PopShop @ Mom&PopShop: I'm trying to remember what the texture was like.. I know it came in a pouch like chewing tobacco. I remember it being cut up in strips like shredded chewing tobacco too, was that the case???
  6. Mom&PopShop @ Mom&PopShop: That big league chew was fire tho fr!!

  10. LatsDoodis @ LatsDoodis: Bubblegum rack? Like, boobies?
  11. LatsDoodis @ LatsDoodis: Don’t message people about things like veterinary care without taking care to mind the rules you two crazy nuts. More at stake than getting bad info or scammed, there’s predators out there looking for bigger fish and will step on a guppy to get to them. Fishing expeditions aren’t just for private citizens enjoying a calm weekend exploring the lake for a fish hookup. Offish of offishial fishing investigations may be looking for the best fishing hole and scare off the big
