My Sweet Valentine <3

For Valentine's Day, my wife and I have a little tradition. We don't really exchange gifts, just cards. We don't go out to dinner but I will take a 1/2 day that day (if it's a work day) and will go and make a nice little 4 course dinner for us. I have the Jacuzzi filled and waiting for her when she gets home from work with a tray of assorted little appetizers and a large GG & pineapple waiting on the ledge of the Jacuzzi. So she goes up there and relaxes out the stress of the day while I cook. We eat dinner, (surrounded by begging, greedy cats, lol) and after that, well you know..... /default_wub.png

So part 2 if you will, is on March 14th. A semi-local radio morning show has made March 14th a new holiday called (forgive me in advance) Steak and BJ day. On that night, my wife takes me out to dinner for a good steak and then we go to BJ's ware house for some shopping (hee hee). Pretty sure you can figure out the actual there /default_cool.png .... S-.
Any female that I have ever known has never heard of March 14th - a friend told me about it years ago and I've always felt that it was an important holiday to celebrate - mostly because I LOVE holidays, gifts and gift giving.

Unfortunately, because of my love of holidays, gifts and gift giving, I tend to celebrate Valentine's Day more than my husband does - leaving the holiday a little lopsided.

Sadly, this has always been my experience as well. /default_sad.png

Dorothy,

I'm sure I read this all wrong...

See excessive parentheses (gotta learn how to bold quotes on my phone posts)

But this makes it sound as if you might be a rare and highly prized Valentine...

But perhaps I'm hanging out in the gutter with my interpretation...

Wouldn't be the first time, and certainly won't be the last!

Your Friend,

Beranda

It's a Mid-Atlantic / East Coast niche kind of thing. S-

Sounds much more enjoyable than a day crammed full of BS..

I have seriously never heard of March 14th! Until today! I usually enjoy holidays, just not so much Valentines Day.

My birthday falls VERY close to Valentines Day so as I am about to get older, I also have to see all the hearts, hallmark cards, chocolates and BS /default_smile.png

Everyday should be Valentine's day. There shouldn't be one day that's singled out to let your loved one know you love them. Jmho

Clearly I'm a little late to the party here, but, DZ you've taught me something new! And on subject(s) I've been considered an expert /default_cool.png You really can't beat the steak I can grill up! /default_tongue.png Sounds like the 14th of any month would serve well for this tradition; so long as favors are returned, LOL!

 8. L @ Layne_Cobain: Yes the mars almond was in a white-ish wrapper
 9. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Oh god! Way too much nuance and variation between Mars, Milky Way, and 3 musketeers. There’s was a special mars that had almond. A Mars bar from the UK is closer to a snickers than a traditional mars. What a rabbit hole though.

 12. L @ Layne_Cobain: Anyone remember mars bars? I remember as a kid going over to my grandpas he’d keep them in the freezer we’d get there and go right for them haha so good think had almonds in them probably similar to a snickers almond
 13. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Okay, somehow I missed putting my two cents in during the chocolate discussion. The big near-half-pound slab of Hersheys Symphony bar with the BLUE label is hands down the best mainstream chocolate bar in America. You folks over across the pond kill it with Cadbury’s and I won’t deny it’s the best but those damn blue symphonies have me hooked.
