n00b question about IV

So there's a vendor that has something I have always wanted - morefine in an ampoule. It comes in 20mg/ml and they are 1ml ampules. 

I would personally think 5mg is more than enough for me but I want to be able to ensure the solution stays sterile.  

Could I buy a mixing vial and take the solution and dilute it with bactosteric water and then use a 1ml syringe to get 5mg? Would the leftover solution be sterile and if so how long is it good for.

I would hope the amp would have a rubber poke through top. If not, I wouldn't know about keeping it sterile. If I were to acquire that amount, I'm sure one little vial wouldn't last long enough to matter. But I guess I never used to take enough precautions to keep things sterile. Spoons, tap water, and the occasional reused $yr!nge...I guess I should be glad I'm still here. Yesteryear was an uncautious time for me!

And the comms were wired and he was really wanting me to make his forum board look better. Now I know the first thing to look at even before the menu. But I have some business with usps tomorrow and will ask for everything mailed to me especially packages
