Nascar Anyone?

I have certainly never traveled "in excess of 180 mph" in a car, although once upon a time in Montana I got a minivan rental up to 107. The little devil who always sits on my left shoulder was cheering & whipping the horses, while the little angel on my right wept and wet her pants. Over all, quite a thrilling 23 seconds or so.

I used to live about 3 miles (as the crow flies) from the RIR track in VA. On a hot, still summer night, you could sit on my back porch and hear the engines rumble & roar, very like the ominous growling that precedes a major thunderstorm, also quite thrilling. I know absolutely nothing about NASCAR or other car racing, but anything that involves high speed, explosives, very loud music and a dangerously accelerated pulse rate... count me in.

Which, now that I think about it, might go far in explaining the level of "success" (or lack thereof) I have attained during these oh-so-long decades of adulthood... Hmmm.

I think too many people underestimate the minivan's capabilities...thus missing out on the thrill you speak of here.

Many moons ago, I might have been a big fan of taking the Vanagon over residential/school zone speed bumps at mock 40 mph... and while it could have been the "herbal remedies" I found so helpful at that time or just the weezing laughter of my girlfriend as she rolled around in the back like a ball in a pinball machine, I'd choose a vanagon bumper boat at 1 a.m. any day over these fancy shmancy Nascar numbers.

Do I sound like Gramps again?

Oh yeah, if it wasn't painfully obvious already; I've got no Nascar driving experience whatsoever, but would be willing to apply all Vanagon driving hours to any openings offered by the Nascar folks.

And one more thing...

Blue,

Your writing cracks my $hit up!

Have a good one,

Beranda

Hey Beranda,

I was out of town a couple days over the Thanksgiving holidays and did not want to hop on my brother-in-law's computer whilst all the family gathered (hovered) 'round, so I feel like I've really been out of touch!

So, better late than never: first, thanks for the compliment!

Second, NO, you do not sound like Gramps, LOL, not to me, anyway! Alas, my opinion probably is not worth much as I could easily fill Granny's shoes -- especially if they're those high-top button-ups, love that style!  /default_laugh.png

And third: oh lord, the things we used to do in cars way back when, in days of yore, when there were no seat belts on those big ol' bench seats, every engine was at least a V-8, and gas was about 37 cents a gallon... I know your mental image of me is getting greyer & greyer, isn't it?! I like to believe it's just a strand or two, and that it blends in with the blonde to the point of complete camouflage. But then I'll catch sight of myself in the rearview mirror, with that merciless sunlight revealing all -- yikes! Definitely silver, not gold... We needn't go into what's happening below the hairline -- 'cause that would put us way off topic!

Which, of course, is Nascar (see how I did that? Obviously, I'm not senile...right? Right?)

When is the Daytona 500????? This weekend????? I need my Nascar back!!!!!! Other sports pale in comparison.

The boys, and Danica, were on the track doing practice runs. Awesome to see the speeds.  Kurt in the 41 is going to be so fun to watch and listen to on the scanner. He always loses his mind and starts cussing up a storm. sarcasm x 500.  Go  Outlaw!!!

Wow, it's already starting? I'm going to brag @kroozer88. I rode in a Nascar car with a former Nascar driver at Talladega. My husband opted to drive and since I opted to ride, I went a LOT faster. Very exciting and highly recommended.

PS I like to watch too. Vroom vroom

Okay now I'm jealous. I started up a NASCAR one time but that was in the early nineties. And it was so f****** fun.

Put it on your bucket list. We did Dale Jarrett and those walls at Talladega are monsters. My husband looked like driving Miss Daisy the first lap he thought the car would fall off.

Drugbuyersguide Shoutbox
  1. A @ AnnaSofia: Shout box is for light shoot the shit type convo - like Gracie implied. The SB is very visible, so to speak.
  2. J @ jjjjjjjjj: @Layne_Cobain Happy Thanksgiving to you too! And Happy Thanksgiving to all the lovely people here!
  3. L @ Layne_Cobain: Thanks @jjjjjjjjj and others…place is the best…Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! 🦃 🦃
  4. J @ jjjjjjjjj: Always enjoy seeing y'all's sports talk in here
  5. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: Yeah we're keeping it here. Thanks everyone <3
  6. Ketmaster @ Ketmaster: nah if mods say you can keep it to shoutbox, go for it
  7. L @ Layne_Cobain: Sports FTW 🙌 @tiquanunderwood 😃 , but yeah guess we can make a thread or wutever for our more in depth “coverage”
  8. Z @ zdaBa: (y) (y) (y)
  9. iamgroot @ iamgroot: Here is our new official email address from now on. support@mediattics.com
  10. iamgroot @ iamgroot: Some customers were scammed by someone using a nearly identical email address. So I’m planning to change my email to one that uses my official website domain, so it can’t be easily copied and everyone can stay safe from scammers. Here is our new official email address from now on. support@mediattics.com
  11. fyjclol @ fyjclol: Also wondering what happened to the guy with the btc predictions. And +1 for fooseball
  12. L @ LW815: 90% of the time when I see it, it’s being used for exactly what it’s not supposed to be used for(with the exception of you and Layne talking fooseball)
  13. L @ LW815: I’d say it’s fair enough game to discuss whatever you wanna discuss(within the rules ofc) and if people don’t like it oh well. It’s not like the shoutbox is constantly popping off with other discussion lol
  14. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: Well sorry if I bother anyone with my sports talk :) much love to all. Happy holidays.
  15. Gracie5 @ Gracie5: Shout box is for sports, hey, Happy Thanksgiving. It’s not for those other things people like to bring up. Please use or start a thread in the appropriate place.
  16. L @ LW815: Better to push other worse discussions out of sight IMO and see random sport shit, but also kinda makes it hard to have that content removed if need be. I don’t know how to view the entire shoutbox recent history but I know it’s possible lol so it’s both a good and bad thing tbh
  17. Ketmaster @ Ketmaster: exactly
  18. L @ LW815: I agree @Ketmaster but their lengthy sport discussions usually tend to happen at convenient times, like when somebody is talking about or asking things that the shoutbox also isn’t meant for(that are worse than random sport talks)
  19. Ketmaster @ Ketmaster: I appreciate the good vibes but I agree sports stuff should like be in a thread or PM or something, not a sports guy so it is kinda like wtf is happening people are messaging each other in a shoutbox
  20. T @ timyboy: Where is the guy with the BTC predictions?
