need pain management dr. in s.f. bay area

I am in need of a good pain management doctor in the San Francisco Bay area. My roommate has had repeated back surgeries and spinal fusion,  his  doc retired and gave recommendations, but no one in this area is willing  prescribe strong opioids. So he's obviously in a real bind and asked me if I could find out anything. Any help greatly appreciated! :-)
