But here goes.

I just now figured something out that made a lot of sense to me. Lately I've been really constipated and when I take my pain meds they don't work very well. And then I have to take more. Well when im not constipated they seem to work great. Well....problem solved! Haha. So for those of you that have been questioning why they arent working? Now ya know!

Perhaps I'm just ignorant (likely in fact), but I'm not sure why that would make a difference.

Drugs are absorbed in the colon, yes. I dont know. Thats what I would have thought.

After 2 surgeries and tons of medication....I have found the best medicine for what you are after.

1. Dulcolax

2. Magnesium Citrate

Take both and stay close to your private quarters.  45 minutes is good..

That is awsome advice thank you. Sometimes I just cant eat enough fiber a day or fit enough in my colon for all that matters lol

You are welcome sweetheart.  It sounds like you are on a popsicle diet...or something like that.  Are you eating any sort of substance?  This is where I get in trouble.  My problem is that I'm on too many meds to eat.  I am on ox*s (con$s and c*ns), xan*, zolps*, cymbal*&ls...and that is just a regular day.  When we medicate it is challenging for our bodily functions to work.  You need to EAT fibre, take vegetable fibre tabs and eat, eat, eat.  If you are taking meds for the first time, please use my previous advice.

Oh gosh, hopefully no popsicle diet ever for me again. Been there and done that during back surgery years ago. I am on Minnesota vikings, x@n, val$, imipramine, Wellbutrin, and $er0quil daily. So for that I take fiber gummies, 3 colace gel caps, fruits and veggies. Maybe i just need to take more fiber caps and colace caps. Its just so crazy cuz I notice every time im constipated I dont feel the med$ working. But when my tummy is working properly then all pain goes away and i feel that warm fuzzy happy feeling (cant help but love that!). Do you recommend any fiber supplements that work really well?

Hey pokeytoe!

I am new to the everyday opiate routine. My doc gave me a scrip for doc-q- lace, 100 mg. It is a script stool softener. It works well, you take it twice a day. Maybe you could ask your doc?

Yes thats what I take as well (colace) /default_smile.png and its 100mg and I take two of those at bedtime.

I take psyllium husks on the regular. I also dink probably 4-5 liters of water a day and exercise almost everyday so I don't have too many issues. You gotta stay healthy.

I could not agree more! Exercise, even just plain walking, helps with everything. I started doing weight lifting (low weight, high reps) during wd from tramp and i will tell ya.....what a difference it made to my sense of over all well being. Just three or four times a week for an hour or so, wow! I cant right now with broken arm and back... It is killing me!

Sorry to hear about that. I've been lucky in that I've never broke a bone in years of racing motocross, but my back is shot. I try to limit the PM and only take .5mg of xanax a day to sleep. I worry as I've been on it for so many years. Although from what I've heard .5 is not a huge dosage. Surprisingly, I've not built up a tolerance on Xanax and it still works well for me. Gives me crazy dreams though.

No Rob, .5 daily is not a lot at all. So glad to hear you have not built up tolerance. I love dirt bikes, not professionally or anything, just zipping around the forest preserve....lol! Sounds like you have a good healthy attitude towards meds. Good for you!

SR9999, my husband is a super cross and motocross fanatic.  He is in is 50s and still goes out riding every weekend!  I have had two back surgeries and still am dealing with intense back pain.  It is the worst but we all manage to get through it.

Cat and P.T. - Try and take Miralax or a vegetable laxative.  Do not take anything with a stimulant in it as it will cross paths with medication.

Hope that helps!  I've been on meds for the last 4 years so I've had to try just about everything.  Miralax is probably the best.  Water, water, water!

  1. xenxra @ xenxra: @WTF7218 it may as well be that way with how little effort some of the people on here make to find information that's exactly where you would expect it to be.
  2. ontovzik @ ontovzik: When I had long term shingles, lasting two months. All he could give me was a 10 day supply of dilaudid. He looked at the ground while we were talking about it. I could tell he was ashamed but it was the legislature and the governor that tied his hands. He was very upset that non-medical political people, the media, and the scared public were controlling how he treated his patients. Someday those people will need meds and a hospital bed and they will be gone.
  3. ontovzik @ ontovzik: I had a great doctor, he had the true gift of a healer and he stayed on top of all the science. He straight up told me that for many people opiods work for managing short and long term pain.
  4. ontovzik @ ontovzik: He peed it in the snow in my backyard.
  5. WTF7218 @ WTF7218: @xenxra 😆😂. Yes, but only a few brave souls will ever find the number. You must first order a Dirty Shirley from the bartender. Then you must discreetly take the cocktail napkin from under your drink and unfold it. There you will find the map to the location of the phone number, and clues to decipher the code that it is written in.
  6. xenxra @ xenxra: he left his phone number scribbled in a stall at the pub three blocks down
  7. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar I would try one of those easy online ones .. reddit gives useful info about that
  8. Alkazar @ Alkazar: @NYStateofMind I dont really have a history of abusing things, my docotr is just really stingy. I am thinking of switching.
  9. C @ Cheesus: Thanks xenxra
  10. xenxra @ xenxra: @Cheesus yeah, use snote
  11. P @ psychedpsych: Trump is cracking down….
  12. P @ psychedpsych: Hackers are the scum of the earth
  13. N @ NYStateofMind: so it was easy bc of my history
  14. N @ NYStateofMind: I didnt really tell him but he knew I needed a new script since my dr went to jail
  15. N @ NYStateofMind: @xenxra I was on Adderall since 15 years ago so my dr prescribed that w no problems and then when I lost my best friend my doctor rxed the valiums but
  16. C @ Cheesus: Temp.pm down for anyone else?
  17. xenxra @ xenxra: @NYStateofMind my doctor's have always been pretty open minded if i can actually come in and explain the pharmacological action of the drugs im seeking instead of just telling them why i think i should be prescribed. the only time it didn't work out for me is when i was trying pharmaceuticals for depression ten years ago and suggested they let me try testosterone instead (turns out i was hypogonadal so they made a mistake denying my request at face value)
  18. T @ Testisthebest: Even down here in Florida when the pill mill docs all switched over to Suboxone and/or retired you can still find some pretty liberal docs but you gotta know what to look for. Mine does "pain management, detox, anxiety, etc. And no insurance. My doc writes me 60 5mg Valium, 14 2mg Xanax and asked if I had ever tried adderal to get more focus at work as I told him I run my own business.
  19. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar do they know your history? Like I dont tell my doctor anything about myself except what they need to know,...I was able to get my dr to rx the highest dose of adderall along with valiums ..... if they dont know your history or there is no history I would just come out and ask what is the reason for their mistreatment.... they have no problem billing your insurance or taking a payment for the visit
  20. T @ Turbo259: @Layne_Cobain Thank you fam
