Hi all, first post here, good to be here. I'm concerned about my opiate receptors and my dopamine and serotonin levels and neurotransmitters etc. I was wrongly put on a number of anti psycotics as well as lithium and now i cant get a a high in the slightest from high doses of oxycodone. I am also currently on suboxone. I am aware of the effect that suboxone can have were users report that they permanentenly cant feel the effects of opiates after being on subxone for  a period of time. I am talking about months after seizing suboxone. I am concerned that this may be the case with me. I am not sure to what extent it may  be the suboxone playing a role or that these anti psycotics and lithium could have irreversibly changed the structure of my neurotransmitters to where i can no longer feel the effects of any opiate.

This is an issue as i need to take for pain related issues, and yes, i also want to enjoy the recreational benefit. I am wondering if anyone out there has a similiar story to me or has heard of one and what if anything can be done to reverse any damage that could have been done. is there anything you can take to help restore damage done? a combination of vitamins etc? those anti psycotics i had tp take i know directly affect the dopamine structure of the brain which is what i am exceedingly concerned about, that i may not only never be able to enjoy an opiate again but also laugh and be happy.

I am not sure if this is the right place for this thread, if not, please move it where you see fit

Cheers

Hello and welcome, are you taking suboxone with naloxen or subutext?because if are taking sub/naloxone and trying to take pain meds that'd be why you don't feel any effect from opiates. Also if you have been taking sub/bup and have seaced taking it and switch back to opiates you will not hardly feel any "full effect "for about 2weeks which for me after stopping sub/bup I had to do twice as much opiate just to not feel sick, I can't speak for everyone but I did get the the full feeling of opiates back but it did take time and as long as you've stopped the sub/bup,so basically if your taking sub/bup and trying to feel any opiates at all you will not. I hope that helps a little .

I have been on the suboxone for 3 weeks now.  It doesn't do much for the pain, but the withdrawal from the opiates was very easy.  I have found that if I use it in the morning, I can go without easily for 48 hours or so.  When the pain gets really bad, I take my gabapentin and an opioid just once.  That usually gets the pain under control.  The gabapentin works wonders.  I didn't think it did much until I went without the opioids and it.  Got  back on the gabapentin and it doesn't totally stop the pain, but it makes a huge difference.  I think it makes a difference on your body and how long you were on the opioids if they will work after stopping.  I was on the opioids for over 3 years, and I'm not having the trouble that some have with them not working well after the suboxone.  Also, I have been told that you can't take them together, but that doesn't bother me either.  I guess what I'm saying is be very careful, go slow, but if the pain is bad, adjust to what may help, but do it slowly.  Also, if you can get the gabapentin it will help.  There is at least one source here that can help with that. Just read and do the research.  I am really tired, so I apologize if my writing isn't as clear as it should be.
