I hope so too @ElectroNymph, I seen no point in Cameron stepping down myself. But a change is as good a rest, the Conservative party has evolved and will have to continue to, and become more inclusive. I feel confident in the long term anyway.

Good point, I think they were too extreme in one way or another policy wise. Theresa May seems to be more balanced. I believe she was meeting nippy Nicola Sturgeon today, I'll be interested in the coverage of that. Surprised Sturgeon is even in the country instead of swanning about the continent demanding Scotland wants to stay in EU. It would be nice to see a bit of governance being carried out.....

I guessing that g4s will be getting a lot of different security contracts now Theresa may is PM. Her husband is allegedly a major share holder or even a director of g4s. Its all very shady.

I read that in the Guardian. I hope not. Something about her makes me trust her more than CamBourne... 

Being a woman doesn't make you Thatcher - was Cameron, Edward Heath? ?

I think she will get on with Sturgeon better than Cameron did, but it'll still be very difficult. Just hope Scotland doesn't break away.

I don't know what to think of Theresa May yet, to be honest. My initial response wasn't positive; I did prefer Andrea Leadsom and it all happened so quickly this week, it was very unexpected. I was a bit worried as she campaigned for Britain Stronger in Europe. To be honest, she pioneered the Psychoactive Substances Act. I know I keep saying it, but I don't think I'll be able to trust a lady who spearheaded possibly the world's most draconian drug laws. Of course I know there's lots of issues that matter far more than drug laws, but it's a bit of a stain on her reputation already.

But then she appointed her cabinet, and I was really impressed with how concise she was, how she didn't mess about. That's a good sign in any Prime Minister, although it can be bad of course, if policies are dodgy and they ruthlessly implement them. But I think I was most happy with David Davis' appointment.

And George Osbourne being sacked. Ooooh yes!

I think her determination, her work ethic and her ability to present herself will hopefully keep Scotland in the United Kingdom, it would be pretty upsetting to see any sort of split...

She does have her work cut out for her, though. The next three and a half years will be pretty turbulent, I think.

@Smoka90 I agree about David Davis, he is a sensible guy, a 'safe pair of hands'. I also don't agree with everything May has done in the past - though she did deport that hooked extremist cleric. 

I read a comment saying " It's nice to be lead by a grown-up again". I echo that sentiment, even if everything she does isn't to my taste.

@ElectroNymph Yeah, I think she definitely commands respect, perhaps from across most of the politcal spectrum. And that's very important for a Prime Minister. I think she said once, words to the effect of 'I don't drink a beer at the pub, I get on with my work'. That's respectable. But I just can't forgive her for some of the Acts she's lead. I just can't... The PSA effected me too much on a personal level.

I didn't hear much from David Davis during the referendum campaigning, seems quite quiet. But a good choice for those who voted to leave, I think. May seems very good at pacifying and appeasing conflict within her party and in general, though. I groaned when I learnt she'd got the job, but on seeing her cabinet I felt a bit better. That's a positive trait...

I don't like the Tories, I don't like Labour (I think they've both failed the country, to be frank), but I see how smoothly, quickly and calmly the Tories sorted out internal division, then I look at Labour, and...what the...? There's no opposition, the way I see it. Crazy times.

Random joke: Hopefully Theresa May doesn't get high on power; she's made that illegal. Imagine the irony.

I hope the power doesn't go to her head also. Many German papers are comparing her to Merkel - not a bad thing - given the state of Germany's economy, job prospects etc. 

She is more ruthless than Cameron, but in times like these, that is needed. 

I am disillusioned with Labour, prefer the Green's. Would vote SNP if I was Scottish. That said, I don't want Scotland to leave. It's all quite confusing...

I'm not a Merkel fan; I've never hated a politican as much as I hate her, but I'll leave it at that...

@ElectroNymphI know I don't have the same politcal views as you, which is fine, but it means I can't advise on what party to support. But my brother has a similar politcal viewpoint to you, and he says that he'll probably vote Liberal Democrats. He says Corbyn is destroying Labour, and I'd have to agree with him there. Hope that helped...

Oh yeah, and I read today that Sturgeon says she has the power to veto Brexit. Wow, I've never known an obnoxious gnome to have such power! She's deluded...

You'd better believe she's deluded. They pretend to be left wing, but in reality they don't know what they are??? There's many people regretting voting SNP now, but their popularity has surged in the past 10 years. Things will kick off here if there is another referendum (neverendum ). Yeah, happy to give power to Brussels, but split away from the UK???? These people are in another galaxy never mind another planet. Sorry Sturgeon, news just in, the referendum was 18 months ago and the answer was NO.

When deluded people get their way, bad things happen, their people turn against them and don't listen to any bile they spew. Then the deluded person crashes down in flames. That's all good, but sometimes the deluded person can do a hell of a lot of damage before people have enough. Sometimes damage can be very hard to reverse, which is what I'm worried about.

All that applies to several politicians I can think of, by the way, not just Sturgeon.

@Smoka90 I admire the way she has inspired the Scottish people and it's good to see more women leading elected Western parties: Merkel, May, Sturgeon, potentially Clinton (Hopefully not Le Pen though). Still, there ia a general malaise surrounding politics, where idealism seems redundant and doomed to failure. It's just a case of making the most of whatever decisions are handed to us, unfortunately.

The damage has been done here,  almost a 50/50 split on independence, and even though it went the way I wanted and I respect the views of balanced Nationalists, the after effects have left a toxic atmosphere and an undercurrent of suspicion and hate over the country. Worst case scenario could be a Northern Ireland type situation. If you ever get a chance you should read the white paper on independence published by the yes campaign, it's mostly hilarious, but frighteningly naive at the same time .

I supported the "No" campaign, though I couldn't vote obviously. Probably another example of people choosing hatred and rhetoric over more 'dull' but sensible policies.

There is 'hateful rhetoric' on both sides; it's just human nature in my opinion...

@PTFC It turning into Northern Ireland would be awful, I agree... but (not wanting to tempt fate here), I doubt it will. NI had the religion sectarianism making it so much worse... plus Ireland is an Island, and I think independence for an individual Island nation will always get very heated...

I have family in Ireland, literally just at the border with the north. Some of the stories they told me were horrific...

Sort of off topic, but did anyone see any clips of the first PMQs with May? There was one putdown she did to Corbyn, it seems to be quite well publicised. She does seem good...still do not trust her at all, though.

Oh yeah, anyone seen the news on tuition fees...? A week after May promised to work for all in society, not just the privilaged few...yep, you guessed it. Upper limit to tuition fees scrapped to the best of my knowledge. Speechless...
