Hi,
I am self-taught in the bit coin space and have gone through a lot of headache and lost money (nothing crazy, just fees) by trial and error. I signed up on two of the popular bitcoin currency exchanges but am confused about "the wallet". First, there's a crazy large fee JUST TO TRANSFER BC to a wallet, so I want to make sure I am doing this right. The only times I have been successful at sending bc to a vendor is by sending via the currency exchange, rather than sending from a wallet.
First, can I get some recommendations for the wallet to use? And then high level instructions on how to send bc from your exchange to your wallet in a way that doesn't increase fees as much (I know the process might be different depending on the exchange). I think it was something like 20% of the total was lost when I did it myself and ended up just converting it back to cash and trying a 2nd exchange that I am having the same issue with. These exchanges come with "wallet services" but I have heard you can use ANY 3rd party wallet and need recommendations on a wallet.
The other thing is that these exchanges also make you submit your ID with a picture of you holding it. Ok, that raised red flags for me big time. What is the purpose of bitcoin if it's not anonymous anymore? You might as well just pay CC if they offer it. That takes the anonymity out of the equation!!??
