Any rules pertaining pms ? Anything goes ?just wondering?

Iv been around a solid month and iv read everything (even the relationship and best free comp program stuff ect)

Iv read and iv came to trust some users or least their screen name / user id to only poke around and they are banned it would be a nice touch if the admin could put the reason why. ie user *jerkfacejackass has been banned for shilling pharm XXX

blah blah blah

anyways happy Easter or happy weekend to anybody who don't celibrate .

This is a great question to be answered for the newbs..  Are there any regulations regarding PM messages?

I don't know of there are specific rules for what can be in a PM but there are some things you should avoid I am sure. Do not use the PM system to send vendor email addresses to others and be careful on any email addresses others send you of vendors in PMs.

A good rule of thumb might be to not PM anything to someone else that you wouldn't want posted publicly due to its offensive nature or critiques of others.

Use PMs to communicate between others on the board that you know and share similar oddities to you, or to share your real nickname, or discuss preferred treats, or talk about subjects that maybe are not of interest to others like Tom Petersen.

PMs are good for getting help from others too that you know or the Mods when you have an issue or question and need help.

Hope that helps.

Good points Smokey,

I'd also add that, While PMs are "private", they should not be used to intimidate, harass or trick another member.

Even as I type these, it seems silly that I would even have to put the info in black and white, however there have been plenty of reports of just those things occurring via PM.

Both of our moderators can answer specific questions pertaining to acceptable behaviors and practices if you are unsure.

Or post a general question on board, we are in no way short of outspoken, intelligent members, and you'll likely receive helpful feedback.

If you are new to the board, protect yourself and get to know members in open forum before you divulge too much or ask the same of them.

A little common sense goes a long way, IMHO

Very well said my friend.....

As I learned the hard way, there are in fact some things that are not allowed via private message. It is best to keep all communication simplistic, no personal details of yourself or others, and no soliciting.

Thanks Hoot. Lots of info among the few posts in this thread that are very important. You are no doubt correct in saying over time certain information could be shared with individuals whom you have built a solid rapport amongst. I'm not sure why, but I'm sure plenty others read the site rules, and attempt to tread carefully but indeed end up breaking a rule like I myself did with my second post. /default_sleep.png albeit unintentionally, I would guess it's fairly common..Simple threads like this are a lifesaver. Glad I have learned from my initial mistake and was only given a warning.

Looking forward to the future!

thank you for this thread....needed info re; what should and could be discussed. i like this place! very to the point. /default_wink.png

I sometimes wish the post cleanups were not so efficient, sounds like you made some interesting posts In the past Hooter /default_smile.png.

Hell my first couple months here, BEFORE H-Berg was a mod I got warning points, banned from the shoutbox, suspended for a short while from the board, banned from specific threads.....It was a blast......I got my ass kicked pretty good, but I do understand it was, in part, due to my very quiet and humble beginnings hahaha.  (We'll just leave that like that) ;-)

Anyway, anyone who thinks H-Berg is a hard ass, man, you ARE new, not only to this board but ANY board.

And sorry but that was my last 2 cents.
Hi Hooter,

How's it goin?

It's your colorful personality, my friend!  I wouldn't know whether your reprimands were warranted or not but I will say unequivocally that the content behind your posts have been extremely valuable to me in many areas on several occasions.

and .. as far as Heisenberg being a hard ass - no way.

Just MHO, but our two mods have different ways of doing their thing but I wouldn't change anything about it.  Jewy and Heis complement each other in their respective areas of knowledge and methods of moderating.  I find Heisenberg's posts to be concise and to the point with a level of subject matter expertise unmatched in many areas.  At the same time, I've never participated in a forum where a Senior Mod like Jewy even existed - he handles sensitive matters with such aplomb, is also a subject matter expert in so many different areas, and at the same time can be tough when necessary.  His value is unmatched as well.

I wouldn't want anyone else watching my back than these two guys.

Coming down off my soapbox...

Regards,

PR

Very nicely said sir.......I am also glad that the people on this board watch out for each other as well......

I like cymbalines idea to show why (don't need specifics) people have been banned or other disciplinary actions.  This would help peanut heads like myself from repeating the same thing.  I also agree with some of the other post above, only PM what you would put on a public post.  If you think it is schetchy, just hit the backspace button because it probably is.

Another thing I guess I should point out here too guys, is if a member you don't know, is not well esablished, OR IS well established and you get a pm that REALLY creeps you out, or you think is illegal, or downright wrong, you DO have the option to (simply) hit the invite button, and start typing a moderators name, invite them, they will become a part of that pm. and they can take it from there. I don't recommend abusing this, but if something seems very wrong, know that it's that simple to involve a mod, or even admin for that matter. I recommend start with mods.
This is great advice here folks.

  1. xenxra @ xenxra: @WTF7218 it may as well be that way with how little effort some of the people on here make to find information that's exactly where you would expect it to be.
  2. ontovzik @ ontovzik: When I had long term shingles, lasting two months. All he could give me was a 10 day supply of dilaudid. He looked at the ground while we were talking about it. I could tell he was ashamed but it was the legislature and the governor that tied his hands. He was very upset that non-medical political people, the media, and the scared public were controlling how he treated his patients. Someday those people will need meds and a hospital bed and they will be gone.
  3. ontovzik @ ontovzik: I had a great doctor, he had the true gift of a healer and he stayed on top of all the science. He straight up told me that for many people opiods work for managing short and long term pain.
  4. ontovzik @ ontovzik: He peed it in the snow in my backyard.
  5. WTF7218 @ WTF7218: @xenxra 😆😂. Yes, but only a few brave souls will ever find the number. You must first order a Dirty Shirley from the bartender. Then you must discreetly take the cocktail napkin from under your drink and unfold it. There you will find the map to the location of the phone number, and clues to decipher the code that it is written in.
  6. xenxra @ xenxra: he left his phone number scribbled in a stall at the pub three blocks down
  7. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar I would try one of those easy online ones .. reddit gives useful info about that
  8. Alkazar @ Alkazar: @NYStateofMind I dont really have a history of abusing things, my docotr is just really stingy. I am thinking of switching.
  9. C @ Cheesus: Thanks xenxra
  10. xenxra @ xenxra: @Cheesus yeah, use snote
  11. P @ psychedpsych: Trump is cracking down….
  12. P @ psychedpsych: Hackers are the scum of the earth
  13. N @ NYStateofMind: so it was easy bc of my history
  14. N @ NYStateofMind: I didnt really tell him but he knew I needed a new script since my dr went to jail
  15. N @ NYStateofMind: @xenxra I was on Adderall since 15 years ago so my dr prescribed that w no problems and then when I lost my best friend my doctor rxed the valiums but
  16. C @ Cheesus: Temp.pm down for anyone else?
  17. xenxra @ xenxra: @NYStateofMind my doctor's have always been pretty open minded if i can actually come in and explain the pharmacological action of the drugs im seeking instead of just telling them why i think i should be prescribed. the only time it didn't work out for me is when i was trying pharmaceuticals for depression ten years ago and suggested they let me try testosterone instead (turns out i was hypogonadal so they made a mistake denying my request at face value)
  18. T @ Testisthebest: Even down here in Florida when the pill mill docs all switched over to Suboxone and/or retired you can still find some pretty liberal docs but you gotta know what to look for. Mine does "pain management, detox, anxiety, etc. And no insurance. My doc writes me 60 5mg Valium, 14 2mg Xanax and asked if I had ever tried adderal to get more focus at work as I told him I run my own business.
  19. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar do they know your history? Like I dont tell my doctor anything about myself except what they need to know,...I was able to get my dr to rx the highest dose of adderall along with valiums ..... if they dont know your history or there is no history I would just come out and ask what is the reason for their mistreatment.... they have no problem billing your insurance or taking a payment for the visit
  20. T @ Turbo259: @Layne_Cobain Thank you fam
