Nvm found my answer.  Was prescribed x amount, insurance only filled a week worth, about half what was prescribed. I think next time I just need to tell pharm I will pay out of pocket and not use insurance

@cowboys32 that's exactly what I had to do. My insurance would only pay for a week's worth and it's not worth having to go every week. Just be sure they take the insurance off, tell them you don't have it anymore because I had problems with my refills when they kept trying to put it through my insurance after I told them I would self pay.

"Is my prescription ready? No your insurance says that you have exceeded the amount they will cover". Hopefully you can avoid that hassle.

It's just another way for insurance companies to try and cheat us out of what should be covered. They know that many people are not going to try to pick up their monthly prescription every week.

Your doc can contact insurance and let them know it’s medically necessary to receive full 30 days of Rx due to patient needs. Only issue would come from regulatory limits on controlled substances, but usually that’s at minimum no more than a 30 day supply per Rx.  Your doc might find this easier on his/her workload as well, and should be interested in limiting unnecessary hassle and barriers to treatment for his/her patients.

It's easier to say s3lf pay. Use G00d Rx for discount coupon and shows where lowest s3lf pay is

That's true. Sometimes you gotta stay off the record and free the restraints of insurance policies, etc. For the long term, and for people who can't afford certain meds, it's a good idea to simultaneously explore the avenue of getting insurance to work for you and pay.
