I have to use one of these options now for a vendor and I’ve never tried them. Any recommendations over which is better? Any experiences? Any advice would be great.

There's a thread for Remitly in this section and I know one of our popular International vendors was using Sharemoney so if you try a search for it @fhdbeuf then you may find some information on it that way.

I did not have any success wirh Sharemoney with the vwndor you are speaking of.  However, they banned me a year ago for too many transactions.  I was hoping they forgot but no such luck.

I tried sharemoney but it’s not licensed in my state apparently so I couldn’t send. Remitly was successful.

Can I vent?  First time using Sharemoney  - and they have a  hold on my funds for what will soon be 24 hrs.  Can I just say MY funds again.  Who the hell are these people lording over where I send my money?  I jumped through all kinds of hoops all day back and forth, and now crickets.  I've gone from being intimidated and practicing how I was going to coerce them into sending MY funds, to being prepared to tell them to cancel the transaction if they give me any lip.  The notion of groveling to try and send my own money ... my next donation should be to the libertarian party.   PS  - consider Remitly, and thank you for listening  :)

Did you ever get it to work?

They generally release funds after 1 business day. That’s common practice with SM. After using them 5-10 times, they will want your life history and ID to continue. So use them very sparingly.

Nope.   It was on hold for a day and half with no explanation except to periodically ask me for more documents.  So I finally contacted them and had them cancel the transaction and return my funds.   I would only use an online transfer service again if it could somehow be done with no connection to my shipping address.  The blatant paper trail made me incredibly uneasy.    I know some ppl have success, but I am BTC or CIM from here on out.      @fhdbeuf

@never2many  I tried to be patient and gave them about 36 hours.   It's strange, when I said "either release my funds today or cancel my transaction" they cancelled it.  Also, for anyone getting ready to use these services for the first time, check thier licensing on the website before starting to make sure they are licensed in your state.

Tried sharemoney today and was a total waste of time.  I think once they see SY area it's immediately flagged.  They made me send ID and take a 15 questionnaire to make sure I'm who I say I am.  Then a day or so later they said they can't complete the transaction without a verifiable phone number for the receiver... dead end.

I use Sharemoney because I use the popular vendor on here.

I sent them my through my phone a copy of my ID and they sent me through text that they were going to call me to verify that it was me. I was nervous about the call but it was a short call, they just wanted a voice to connect to the ID. They didn’t ask anything obnoxious.

I can understand why people don’t want to share their ID. But, the popular vendor takes it so I didn’t have a choice. Jim sent me a list and I went through it but Sharemoney was the only that worked FOR ME. I have been using it for four months. All is good. They even send me email to each month with discounts on fees.

For a SY vendor I wouldn’t bother to set it up and to send my ID. In fact, you are better off NOT sending your ID.

Man, no luck with either of these.

1.  SM:  signed up and sent my first payment to an SY vendor.  Order was flagged for review which they said should only take about an hour or so.  24 hours later and still no word.  I called and they had me take about a 15 minute questionnaire to verify that I'm who I said I was.  After passing this they said all I needed to do to get the money processed was to provide them with a verifiable phone number for my receiver.  So that was a total waste of time.

2. Remitly:  signed up, completed a transaction however it was cancel within the hour and was told to call customer service which I of course did not do.

I'm kinda hoping the MG/WU eventually blows over sooner.

@ozzy13 I hope u didn’t lose any $

thank you for the updates.
No lost money and Sharemoney refunded me.  I'm just confused how they both immediately deny me while others have success sending money to the same vendors.  It would suggest I'm on a blacklist or something but the odd thing is I've been using WU and MG without issues.  Weird.

@Handsley I too use sharemoney with one of the two main vendors that I prefer. How many times did you use them before they supsended your account? I know I can't process anything with them when my VPN is running. Which sucks but isn't the end of the world.

I've never used remitly but I have used share money. That process was very simple. Didn't even have to leave home. I'd prefer it over the wu and mg processes.

SM is a pain.  You send money and they send you an email to say it is ready for pickup.  Their website says it's ready. The receiver goes to get it and it is NOT ready.  This has happened every time I used it.  If you are placing an order be sure that the vendor understands it might take a day for the money to actually be available.  In SM defense, mg and wu cut me off so it is my only option beside BC and not everyone accepts BC.

More at stake than getting bad info or scammed, there’s predators out there looking for bigger fish and will step on a guppy to get to them. Fishing expeditions aren’t just for private citizens enjoying a calm weekend exploring the lake for a fish hookup.
