Thanks DGSB, I appreciate the kind words of praise. Hell, I have no idea what I'm doing, and have never previously moderated anything. It's definitely a work in progress, and I'm doing the best I can while remaining true to my own personality and style. I know that FG and RH are doing the same, and we appreciate the support. As for anyone who might feel slighted for having not been selected, all I can say is that I didn't ask for the job, and in fact declined it several times before agreeing to give it a go. Point being, I certainly wasn't competing for the role, and more importantly, I don't view it as placing me above anyone else here on DBG. I'm just helping out to make sure things run smoothly, and to help insure our future. I'd like to think, and certainly hope, that anyone who knows me would say that I'm still the same old humble, smart a** walking carpet that I was before accepting the position. Again though, thank you for the words of support.
And I'm with you completely on your assessment of this vendor. In fact, it's not the first time I've seen that IP address or registration information for vendor sites of this look and feel, so I wouldn't be surprised if the brain behind the curtain is someone here in the US that throws these against the wall to see how many White Chocolates stick. I'm not sure the Arizona thing means much, as that's just the mailing address for Domains by Proxy, which as you know is just one of those domain registration privacy services. As for the server IP, it's a dedicated server IP that belongs to a company called Soft Layer. They don't offer the cheap and dirty shared hosting plans, and only do dedicated servers, private clouds and managed hosting environments, so my guess would be that whomever owns this site also owns enough sites to justify the cost of a dedicated or fully managed hosting solution. But hey, I'm just a Wookie, and certainly no tech savant!
