I know some people sleep just fine after taking opiates. But many people also have a lot trouble sleeping after taking them. I am one of those people. I really love and enjoy the warm fuzzy happy feeling I get when taking an oxy. But each time I have to prepare the next day to feel like shit because I know I won't sleep much at all. I just lay there and nod for hours. I'm talking about taking very small dosages too. Like I take 10 mg max and have this problem. Has anyone got any suggestions on how to get a good nights sleep after taking one? A xanax maybe?

I know exactly what you mean. All opiates do this me. Which is another reason I despise taking them. If I have to take them I try to take them as early as I possibly can.

yes, xanax.  I actually like the speedy feeling.  That speedy feeling plus relief of pain really helps me get a lot done during the day so I'm grateful for it.

I have the same problem.  My pain doctor has me take Dilauded 2X a day.  I try to take the 2nd dose early, but even if I take it around 5 in the evening, there are very few nights that I get to sleep before 5 in th morning.

You get a speedy feeling from Xanax? Never heard of that one. If you take excessive amounts does it begin to make you lethargic? Do you get the memory loss at high doses as well?

"Has anyone got any suggestions on how to get a good nights sleep after taking one? A xanax maybe?"

I was answering this question above and saying yes to the xanax helps you get a good night's sleep after taking opiates and then the rest of my comment was about the speedy feeling I get from opiates.

I don't think xanax has ever made me have memory loss even at high doses.  I am not on high doses now but have been in the past.  My spouse just died 2 months ago very suddenly, so the xanax helps a lot with the severe anxiety and grief I've had regarding the aftermath of this.  There is too much to handle.  So the opiates help with the pain during the day and the xanax is for the night.  It's not the ideal life, but at least I can function at work and sleep. I find it very hard to eat as well with the severe grief, but I have more of an appetite after I take the xanax.

I'm so so sorry to hear of your loss!!  I don't have trouble sleeping after opioids, but I have Valium prescribed for my anxiety and take that before bed. So, perhaps that's why I sleep better. I just wanted to send my condolences for your loss.

My grandfather passed unexpectedly two years ago.  Shortly after, my grandmother attempted suicide due to the grief.  We all knew she was hurting but didn't realize it was that bad, but we should have known.  I pray that you have close family to help you through the hard times, but I'm available to message if you ever need to talk.

I now make sure my kids go to see her at least once a week and it seems to be helping.

:(   :769_heart:

@Fishtail Condolences for your loss as well.  I hope grandma can find a way to be happy without him.  We have to try.  Our loved ones that have passed on would want us to make a new life for ourselves.  I'll tell you, though, losing a spouse is a tough one, the toughest one I've been through so far.

The only thing I would say is be so careful. This is often why people OD. Not because they take too much of something necessarily but you start getting into murky waters when mixing opiates and benzos. I'm guilty of doing it too. But I try not to very often that's for sure.

Im so sorry to hear of all the loss here and I hope everyone takes care and can find ways to heal. I haven't lost a partner but I lost my brother a couple of years ago and about 8 months after he died I had the absolute worst bout of depression I've ever had.

Condolences to you Pooner!  I couldn't imagine losing my brother. :(

your advice is also spot on. :)

This whole thread is so sad : ((.

My condolences go out to all of you.. Loss is a terrible thing and often what leads some of us down the 'murky' path we tread.  I too have the same trouble sleeping from opiates.. Apart from one.. Oxy makes me sleep like I baby, regardless of the time I take it? However, morph1ne, codeine, trams and especially DHC have an almost amphetamine like effect on me? Good for an impromptu midnight/early morning full house clean, but certainly not for sleeping!!

So, I am more than guilty of treading the same dangerous path as many of you (us). The very fine line of mixing crazy crackers amounts of opiates, with more than my fair share of Nitra3epam/Xan@x/vali\/m to then induce sleep..

I've lost more than a few friends practicing the double CNS depressant effect of opiates and sedatives.. And do not wish to join them!.  I think sometimes we forget (I know I do), that even though most opiates are strangely energising, they all depress your central nervous system, just like Benz@'s...

Guess I'm just saying, be safe people...

This thread is a stark reminder to anyone, including myself to curb your/my own habit of double dipping!!

Again, my condolences to you all, for your losses...

~P~

I'm often on here at 1 am, 2am, and I am not sure what amount that opiates play into this. I think it's my natural rythym to be a bit of a night owl. Have never been a morning person on or off of them.

On the nights where I am still too wide awake at those times, I take a benzo. Doesn't even matter whether it's a valid or a zan or something else, they all put me to sleep. I'm careful not to do this more than a couple nights in a row so I don't become reliant on them to sleep. The last thing I need is another med I have to worry about never running out of! But they work like a charm when I need them to and I stay asleep better as well.

Hydro and trams have that effect on me, but not oxy. I try to stay away from Tram completely because I dislike the side effects, but find that I have to take hydro on occasion. I definitely try to take it early in the day and hope that I'll be able to sleep, but if I can't sometimes I'll take a benadryl. That may be a different option than double dipping with opiates and benzos. I hate mixing CNS depressants, so I'll only do it if it's been a significant amount of time since I took the opiate (like 5+ hours). Anyone know why side effects such as insomnia may linger even though opiates are metabolized by the body very quickly?

I can sleep, no issues at all. The bf says he has issues sleeping even if its just a 5mg he took earlier in the day.

Ops make me energized.. I do get that warm feeling, I definitely can't take them before bed or I stay up.. And I like my sleep.. I can take five Val and not feel a thing.. Any advice on that? Xan or klon? I lost my wife to a terrible op overdose.. So I tread lightly as well, but it does ease the pain.. Love to every one for a good new Year

I've only ever had trouble sleeping after taking subtu3X, once the knoding stage isn't so intense. Im lying  in bed half awake. Any othe op8 I can sleep fine

Strangely, after eating oxy, I do find it difficult to stay asleep, even with 10mg of Zolp.

Everyone metabolises in a slightly different way I guess.

This question is the real reason (imo) why so many become dependent on both opiates and benzos. Which is not a fun dependency I just came  off valium & xanax last Aug 24th (almost a year ago 2.5mg & .25mg) then stopped subs 3 weeks later at .125mg (after 6 yrs on I should say)...  a week later I got back on the sub at .06mg... stayed on for a week then stopped for good Sept 27th. I would have came off the sub faster if the first 2 didn't annihilate my sleep those first 3 weeks. And the reason I added the first 2 benzos after my first 2 years on sub was cause my sleep became that ridiculous. You just get sick of lying in bed wired then feel the need to take more sub so you're even more energized during your sleep deprived days... it creates unstable tendencies though honestly just taking sub under the mouth as directed will make you more unstable than any other route of administration just pointing that out. When I moved to intranasal sub water in an eye dropper (snorting slowly) that more stable BA variance you feel it in your body quick in just 2-3 days (you'll feel far less "swings"). And that gave me the stability & strength to drop my dose like a monster. The huge BA variance from sublingual dosing would never have allowed me to get under 1mg.

Back on topic. Sub & OC wired me the most. Morphine, poppies, codeine, hydro always made me sleepy.

If you're getting insomnia from a typically more sedating opiate like morphine I'd ask a doctor for something weak like trazadone.

If the insomnia is from sub or OC you may want to get some benzos but start low, try to keep it low cause they are virtually the most powerful drugs I know off (for sleep) and if you get hooked don't panic, just keep trying to live & eat as healthy as you can and when you need to taper or stop get down with a good dosing regime. I think what I'm saying is do what you need to survive, don't feel bad about it and learn from people like me who suddenly feel emboldened to try & help if I can.

Best of luck to all Earths Creatures. 😉

  4. ClintEastwood @ ClintEastwood: Robert Duvall and a handful of others were a younger actors coach and always said no one worked as hard as those guys did. Robert Duvall and rest would read the full script 228 over and over, then after the last read they would go into how to perform their character. The young man had made it to meet Al who are greats and pull them to the side. And explain what his coach said. They all looked back and said out of every role you’ve seen me in. I have read it 228 by myself. 🫡 🫢 🫢 🫢
  5. ClintEastwood @ ClintEastwood: Sorry for comment below, but I couldn’t delete. Know I see the
  6. Realbenzeyes @ Realbenzeyes: Yeah Robert Duvall passing is a hard one. RIP
  7. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Damn. Just heard Robert Duvall passed away Sunday. That’s a tough one. He’s one of my favorite actors. From Lonesome Dove to the Godfather and many others. We will miss you Mr Duvall. You entertained us for 7 decades. RIP
  8. L @ Layne_Cobain: @ClintEastwood make a post about it homie they’re gonna take down your message here cuz shout box isn’t really for talking shop just random shooting the shit exc but yeh just put your message in a post on the forum in the appropriate place and ppl will get at you! 👊 ✌️
  9. ClintEastwood @ ClintEastwood: Just wondering if anyone well trusted has a supply of research thienos or benz in powders for good average prices? Or could give a shout out from me to him? Or the best lowest per each? I’ve seen some cool and some i just know are worth it. Good price rv presses too but it is much more bang for your buck. I have one good vendor. But am looking for variety’s well. Send me a message or reply if you think any. Thanks - CLINT E. Any Heavy stuff too which all seem about the ssmmmmmm
  10. Realbenzeyes @ Realbenzeyes: I always thought I should’ve been born in a much earlier time but I will say, i do enjoy my Xbox and occasional TV series tho 😂
  11. Realbenzeyes @ Realbenzeyes: I just wish the opioid epidemic never happened. Fk the turn of the century (which would be cool no doubt)! Many of my friends and family would’ve ended up in asylums like so many others. I just wish I could get back all those I’ve lost since the start
  12. L @ Layne_Cobain: 1914 I meant
  13. L @ Layne_Cobain: I often wish I lived during the turn of the century or at least before the Harrison narcotics act or whatever I think it was 1924 the fun ended but anyway yeh being able to get laudanum, ❄️ and amphetamine at the local friendly pharmacy
  14. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Chew on the leaves with a bit of slaked lime and enjoy the mild boost you get from the raw base.
  15. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I’m sure you know the folks in the mountainous regions along South Americas pacific side buy cócà leaves at the local farmers market just to help acclimate to the higher elevation when they have to head up into the hills.
  16. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I would certainly have bought it, swilled it, enjoyed it…. Why not? A little boost in your juice isn’t going to hurt anyone.
  17. R @ Royboy99: Exports were reported to have around 7.2mg per FL OZ, it’s success is what actually led to Coca Cola
  18. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Having cramps and husband thinks you’re acting hysterical (ie. PMS) the doc would either perform a certain massage to relieve the strains of motherhood and family life of that time or send you down to the local apothecary for a bottle of laudanum… A tincture of alcohol and 10% òpìųm. Fun days huh?
  19. R @ Royboy99: @malestrom: yeah thats it, my bad Mariani, yeah i considered that and also its ROA, which was oral so the bioavailability was lower than insufflation, higher degree of purity tho and longer duration … there was a significant marked increase of patents filed by Edison during the time it was released in the US. Presidents were known to use it as well, and the Queen. The pope awarded the wine the Vatican gold medal award
  20. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I think it was called vin Mariani. But yeah, it was all the rave back in the turn to the 20th century. Original formula Coca Cola did it for a while too. I think it was pretty weak though. Something like 200 mg per liter of wine. Enough to maybe give you a little push but unless you could pound some serious alcohol, it’d be hard to really feel the effects before the ethyl knocked you down on the ground. It was an interesting time period. Laudanum was a “hysterical” woman’s best friend.
