HEADLINE:  Reckitt Benckiser sued by 35 US states for 'profiteering' from opioid treatment

Brief excerpts:

Thirty-five states are suing Reckitt Benckiser for allegedly running “an unlawful, multi-pronged scheme” using patent laws and false safety concerns to dominate the market and maintain an artificially high price for Suboxone, a drug used to fight addiction to prescription painkillers and heroin. Federal authorities have been investigating the company over similar issues for the past four years.

Reckitt is accused of having incrementally increased the price of its tablets until they were 50% more expensive than the film in order to encourage patients and doctors to switch. According to the lawsuit, once most prescriptions had moved to the film, the company took the tablets off the market.
Full article explains how intentional and easy it was for the Suboxone maker to manipulate American and U.K. physicians into unwittingly giving the maker the market monopoly for Suboxone.  That shocking level of greed was so successful that the same manufacturer repeated the process with Gaviscon, a liquid heartburn remedy sold over the counter in the States but by prescription in the U.K.

On the other side of the coin, the FDA's severe restrictions on prescribing Suboxone has made it easier to buy heroin than to find a doctor who's "allowed" to prescribe the only drug that really can help those physically dependent on opiates wean their bodies off of that dependence.  Methadone doesn't really count as "safe and effective" because, based on decades of user reports going as far back as the Vietnam war, we're still waiting for one person to say that methadone actually works in ending opiate dependence and say that it's not worse than the original opiate they were addicted to in the first place.

It has been a scam from the beginning I remember when subutex was released in the UK and was hailed as the great panacea for opiate addiction when they n fact it was an old drug, buprenorphine, called Temgesic when first licenced.

When the patent for Temgesic ran out and became generic bupe it was hey I know this is excellent for addicts as it is a partial agonist/antagonist option so will stop cravings but also cling so tightly to the correct opoate receptors (so if you use you get no euphoria or effect so waste of money) let's call it Subutex (Sub- titition for H etc U TEX take it daily). Excellent work in the marketing department well done you'll get your bonus this year and so it began.

There is absolutely no need for naltrexone to be added to the mix as the drug Bupe is such a strong attached drug to the opiate receptor it is all planned they knew it could be took by other ROA when they released Subutex so they waited for the patent to star to end and added naltrexone to the mix and hey presto another formulation further patent no respect for the damage naltrexone has on the liver because it absolutely hammers it and by rights you should have blood works done every 6 months to check for liver damage but hey what does big pharmacy care they're still on patent they could have in the first place left the formular alone because the drug is so sensitive to change hence sublingual Roa to stop stomach acids killing off the bupe before it crosses the  bbb so injecting it is a very poor way of taking it.

They only called it suboxone because of it not being a full agonist of the mu and kappa opioids receptor and being a partial agonist so adding naltrexone would not cause withdrawal when stable on normal subutex ( bupe ) and call it suboxone yet another patent charge what they want for it because it's on their license so F you addicts and your health we need our mansions, yachts, holidays, shares etc so sue the backside off them I say because they never cared to n the beginning of the whole thing!!!!

Hope that makes sense ?
