What were some of your most menorable times growing up as a child?

The time I got Donnie and Marie Osmond dolls for Christmas. Yes I just told my age lol... but when I was a kid Christmas was magical because you believed in something. I have great memories from those days...

Thanks, Cat! I guess all my special memories are Christmas related. I remember fondly another Christmas where I received a Chrissy doll with red hair, I guess I was 7 or 8 at the time. I still have a lot of these favorite items and they always take me back to another time when there was no worry, just happiness. I don't think kids today could even imagine a time where you only received special gifts once or twice a year and didn't get everything you wanted all year long. But I think not getting everything has made me appreciate things everyday and I am a better person for it. I take absolutely nothing for granted...

Not to take away from all the doll memories...my fondest memories ALL involve dirt, mud, climbing trees, falling off bikes and cricks (creeks for you country folk).

Aside from a ton of adult related B.S., much of my childhood memories involve pretending I was a child traveling through the country with Lewis and Clark.

Oh, I also used to set up a store/sidewalk sale directly outside my bedroom door. This was my big shot at A) making some money off of my parents without asking for money directly and /default_cool.png gave me a chance to get rid of the items I never really cared for in the first place...I was 5,6 years old.

I grew up with a dirt track behind my house so I have many fond memories of that as well. I never rode dirt bikes but had so much fun in that dirt and the sawdust piles. I, like you spent a lot of time pretending. Mine was of being part of the Walton's or Brady Bunch and having a make believe playhouse in the woods that my pretend siblings would play in. It did have a crick (creek) along side that I spent many a summer afternoon in. If only we could go back for a day or heck just an hour...

SUCH an entrepreneur! lol!!

I was like 6 and it was raining right down the middle of the street.  Across the street, well almost dead in the middle to the other side it was raining.... on my side of the street it was bone dry and sunny.  Freaked me out but thought it was pretty cool.  Still do today.  S-

SUCH an entrepreneur! lol!!
or an ungrateful little swindler...

I remember thinking it was my only shot at unloading the 3 single Encyclopedia Britannica volumes that I begged for at the grocery store.  Who'd a thought that being so many volumes short of a complete set would be such a let down!

For those folks that have no idea what an Encyclopedia Britannica bound volume is...it was a fanciful way of learning by way of words and images via outdated print, bound in leather and sold by door-to-door salesmen.

Imagine the newspaper (those gray piles of stuff you see stacked high at Starbucks), only imagine E.B. could have been written by your elderly neighbor who has only one perspective on everything, life experiences dating back to the early part of this century, horrible artistic abilities and no interest in drawing in a reader.

And there in lies why I saw the phase out coming long before the rest of the house and needed to lighten my load to make room for a record collection and my ATARI games.

Lost most of you at go...it's cool

Back when everybody was still alive, growing up at the lake and having what seemed like 50 family members (back when you could not only afford to survive but actually afford to have things on a single blue collar income) come over every so often to enjoy one of Granpas bonfires after a day of water skiing. I was skiing by the time i was 8, knowing how and being allowed to pull a skier by 12, making smores, Dad letting me take his scuba tanks, which, at the time were as big as me out to the middle, and everyone having a good time, my first GF, ice fishing, being taught and allowed to take the arctic cat 440 out into the woods by myself, my first car that I can't name because too many IRL ppl know this detail. Just amazing how things, times, people have changed.

I remember Dead of winter and I was 6.  My mom was working waitressing  and me and my dad painted his Harley Orange....Big box fan blowing fumes out windows open and me with a spray can....My mom came home it was like 2 in the morning and my mom just laughed.....That is just one I will share some more later....

I remember one year I only I only had about two presents under the tree and sis had tons. I'm watching her open all her gifts and then Dad stands up and says wait what's behind the couch and it was a flyboy, a remote controlled airplane. I loved that Christmas.
