anyone else having issues with temp.pm?

Seems down, any other good alternatives?

@ct89 Im pretty sure proton comes with its own version of temp.id but dont qoute me on that , I could be wrong! At least it can be an alternative for now.

@ct89 Yes its down.  Tho i have no idea if thats permanent at all.  Quickforget is a good alternative imo.

On a paranoid note:  It was suspicious how they stopped updating warrant canary last november and then resumed in June and then stopped last month, only to go offline now.  Hopefully if they were infiltrated or forced to hand over data or make a backdoor they finally were able to pull the plug on the website.

It would just be so much easier using PGP if you want to send a private message.

There were a few vendors who wouldn't let you use temp.pm in communication, believing it was a honeypot. I don't necessarily think you're paranoid there, @DoomKitty

I prefer quickforget myself. In terms of security, PGP is annoying but not prohibitive to learn.

@CAHEpiphany It only takes a few seconds to create a keypair, then it's almost the same thing as temp.pm except you just paste the receivers key to encrypt the message.  There is a vendor on this site who was telling us to use temp.pm.  They should probably be notified or at least warn their customers.  This was as recently as last week.

I think I know who you're referring to @Clarissa and I'm sure they've noticed temp.pm is down, probably are using one of the other services for now. I just used quick forget in my own messages with them

@CAHEpiphany Yeah they were having problems opening temp, so I switched to quickforget, but the message kept expiring so I had to keep re-sending.  I just don't think he/she wanted to answer my product questions.  I forgot about them until just now actually.  Oh well, their loss.

Yeah, I've always worried that things like temp.pm were just places for someone to scrap data.  Like lots of those image sharing sites that are out there.  Claims security, but in reality they're hunting for 'interesting' information.

Short term since the vendor I was sending mail to usually used temp.pm, I just sent an open email after verifying that my mail server and theirs talked securely.  But I  have an advantage where I'm the owner of the mail server on my end.

PGP would be best I think, but very few vendors/folks understand how to use it.

  15. xenxra @ xenxra: @CalFresh if you are able to DM me (in a secure manner) the transactions associated with your btc theft, i can look into that part for you at least. i;m still 99% certain if the fbi didn't discard my leads they could have gotten some of my coins back and considering you had your coins stolen within the us, you have a much better chance of recovery than me. unless they went through mixers i could probably trace them myself.
