I LOVE Martin Scorsese movies!

Casino is one of my all time favorite movies.

And Cape Fear is awesome!

Also love The Departed.

For some reason, I couldn’t get into Goodfellas.

Did you see “Silence?” Completely different than his other movies.
I agree that he makes some awesome movies.  There is just something different about them. They’re highly entertaining, entangled, keeping you on the edge of your seat , never knowing where it’s going to go, in a slow paced fashion yet never losing your interest . But giving you time to really think and ponder.

I haven’t seen Silence but am certainly intrigued. I’m looking it up right after this.

On another note, I love No Country For Old Men. That was one of the best!  I like to watch movies without really knowing anything about them, so I’m not expecting, and I did that with No Country For Old Men, and it really surprised me the turns it took. I could see Javier Bardem being attractive to a lady from that movie. His strong persona and how cool, calm and collective he stayed was really interesting yet devious, even in the most f’ed up moments. He was definitely the ultimate “bad” boy.

Has any one seen Hard Eight?

it is a little different, but I found it to be really good. It just happened to be on tv one night, and I started watching it but couldn’t quit.

A stranger (Philip Baker Hall) mentors a young Reno gambler (John C. Reilly) who weds a hooker (Gwyneth Paltrow) and befriends a vulgar casino regular.

@CAHEpiphany omg I love Pans labyrinth! Lol Vitch looks scary let me know how it is,  I finally saw Hereditary and Midsommar they were both really good!

@jtab  I think I remember seeing previews for hard eight, I can't remember what year it came out but it sounds super familiar 🤔

@Tara after watching just about every preview that I could find, I obviously need to watch it.  When thinking of Scorsese films, this one really seems different. Although it still seems to follow the lines of his others of slow moving, but in the same good way that makes it truly thought provoking.

What I got from it was it’s going to either reaffirm the faith or break it. The fact that these souls are willing to be tortured and ultimately die for what they believe in, just shows how strong the human will and spirit truly is.

Im going to try to find where I can watch it tonight. It lists it’s on Crackle for free, so I will see if I can pick it up on my Roku.  It’s a date night for my wife and I tonight, and this seems to be the perfect addition, so thank you 😉.

What were your views of it?

So I checked out Cape Fear, I really liked it! Was that towards the end of Scorsese Era?

@Whoopiegoldburgg222 I’m glad that you enjoyed it. I’ve not seen it in years. I need to watch it again. Seems the older I get, movies are very different than the first time I watch them. Its like I’m watching them for the first time again.

I believe Cape Fear was in the middle of the Scorsese era. As I can tell, he started in the 70s and still making movies up to recently. Him being ultimately older now( mid to late 70s), he must still be very sharp and on point as he is still capable of creating a masterpiece. I can only hope when I get that age, that I’m half that intact lol!

It’s an excellent movie. There are parts of it that are hard to get through.

It’s set in Japan where people are tortured and killed if they don’t renounce their faith.

For me, what was truly profound is that those who renounced the faith, were those WITNESSING the torture not the ones who were actually being tortured.
Would love to know your thoughts after you watch it.
I will definitely share my opinion or review upon viewing it!  Thanks again for the share.

Since I’m stuck at home (not a bad thing though) because of COVID, I have a lot of time on my hands to fill. My wife and I are always trying to find a new movie worthy of watching, and I search through this forum for suggestions as I hold all of your opinions in high regard.

These 2 movies probably never made the big screen, but if you like a  bizzare movie script,I suggest 2 rob zombie movies that are part 1 and 2.1st one to watch is house of 1000 corpses.2nd one is the devil's rejects.very well made lower budget movies.

@Tara That movie sounds really interesting , yall got me wanting to check it out! So its called Silence by Scorsese? Is it based off real events?

@eagan1 Dude! Some great movies right there, idk what it is about Rob Zombie but they are the only horror movies that make me as happy and laugh as hard as I do , some of the shit the characters say lmao

@Tara No, I thankfully don’t have COVID-19. God bless those who’ve had it and recovered and to all of those many that didn’t.  I’m just stuck at home because I sure as heck don’t want to get it and my state is very hard hit. I’m immune compromised, so it really scares me , and I’m fortunate enough to be able to be home right now with savings and such. I also inherited my moms house after her passing, so while I don’t have to worry about a payment right now, it is needing a few repairs,  and I’m being a handy man right now lol. Good at it or not, is a different story 😉.  So everything is working out well and giving me the much needed time and opportunities to do so. As my job takes me away from for months at a time. Plus it gives me plenty of time to be on here and watch many great movies!

@Tara

Yeah that makes sense lol oh gosh Im gonna check out some trailers first so I can prepare and not ball my eyes out, Im such a sucker for peoples connection and faith to the unseen and the suffering people are willing to endure in the name of faith... idk just even in a scientific way there is something truly amazing about that no matter how you look at it. I need to check it out.

@elated-dysphoria you just dropped some seriously good movies! I havent seen Cry Baby in so long I def need to revisit that one, absolute classic.

Ive never seen Go but thats on my list now, it has crazy good reviews

@Whoopiegoldburgg222 I just watched Cry Baby with my 11year old a few weeks ago..  Needless to say she instantly fell in love with it.

We had to learn how to do the HOP (if you rember that scene) and she had me watch it 3 times in 2 day with her..!!

@elated-dysphoria Awww thats so awesome!! Im glad she enjoyed it. I cant wait to watch movies with my kid when I have them such cool memories.

Im watching it either tonight or tomorrow. My sister was the first one to show me the movie , it was so different from anything I had seen at the time I immediatlely feel in love with it.
