What a great way to start the weekend! Great songs- listening to them now. Hope your drive home wasn't as busy and accident/life flight like!

My friend is suffering from some unknown brain disease/tumour and he has gone from being in contact, to where I can't get hold of him at all. That was always a sign / agreement if things got bad.

Well, I'm terrified things have gotten bad.

He absolutely hated this song, and I know he would love it in a kinky way if I posted it in his name.

So, here's to you Dennis, you awesome motherfucker. I love you more than you will ever know.

Yes, I think she's guilty as sin, and don't get me started on how she stole from Cherrie Currie, but this song truly reflects the "Malibu vibe."  Lived it, loved it, hated it

I encourage everyone to read about Wilhelm Reich's work. Especially the concept of "Orgone energy" and "rain-making". Yeah, call me out for being "woo woo", but his work had proof. So of course, the CIA dragged his ass in eventually, and it all ended very badly. My father worked for him at one point, and not to brag, but daddy was a big deal in his own right. He was eventually "pulled" from working with Reich just before the big black cars came and shit got real.

It is a long, sad story, that I can't and won't go into any further. However, anyone who has a copy of Peter Reich's "A Book of Dreams" that costs less than my utility bill, please read it, and then let me know what you would charge me for it.

Extra note, related to the above: never lend your books out. Ever.

Sadly, I knew this Hagar asshole in real life. I still run into him as he lives in my neck of the woods. Good for him for making serious money on his booze deal, but all I can say about him is What. A . Cunt.

Had never heard of this band before. Like this song in particular. The Prostitutes: Walking with giants

For anyone who's never heard this version of "Born in the USA" before, which is probably most, it's well worth a listen. With only Bruce, a 12 string and a mic, it bears no resemblance to the album version, which was conceived by his label's A&R people to achieve the commercial success it enjoyed. Well worth the 3:00 investment of time to hear the dark, slide guitar styled, delta blues inspired version that the artist originally envisioned. And if you've never heard this song's back story, it was written out of anger and frustration towards the US government's treatment of Vietnam veterans, including members of Bruce's own family as well as members of his E Street Band. Ironically, the vast majority of the listening public never understood the song's lyrical undertones, given the album / radio version's strong, driving anthem-like sound, which was perceived as being a "proud to be an American" theme.

Enjoy.....

  5. CalFresh @ CalFresh: Thanks everyone. My family and I are safe ATM. @mellowella thank you, but they cleaned me out. the shelves are empty but I'm hoping to call in some favors to restock ASAP. @xenxra I will reach out to set up a secure comms channel for us. Thanks again all. Yesterday was tough, but the support I've received from those I can share is with has been a Godsend.
  6. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: Mad love to you and your family @CalFresh
  7. xenxra @ xenxra: @CalFresh if you are able to DM me (in a secure manner) the transactions associated with your btc theft, i can look into that part for you at least. i;m still 99% certain if the fbi didn't discard my leads they could have gotten some of my coins back and considering you had your coins stolen within the us, you have a much better chance of recovery than me. unless they went through mixers i could probably trace them myself.
  8. O @ Outsider9173: @CalFresh Haven't been here long but I want to wish you a fast recovery
  9. crimp @ crimp: neck spine surgery 8 ribs broke and scalp split onen about 6 inches

  13. mellowella @ mellowella: I will always remember what you did for me the very first time I donated. I have been waiting to pay that kindness forward.
  14. mellowella @ mellowella: @CalFresh are you and your family safe? You’ve helped me in a pinch and were more than generous, and I’m sure you’ve helped others. How can we help you? Does it help at all if we completely buy out what’s left? Maybe that gives time and funds to restock and rebuild? I don’t want to break any rules here, but please let us know if we can do anything. All on your time of course.
  15. CalFresh @ CalFresh: thanks guys. I'm pulling together what I have left and leaning on the kindness of folks who support me to restock my shelves so that I can keep the lights on. Having my savings drained and my security vanish in an instant is paralyzing and the repercussions will only be realized in the coming days and weeks. for now I'm just trying to stay focused on the immediate priorities for ensuring this doesn't. cause cataclysmic failure to the life I've built for my children and I.
  16. H @ hotdog45: @CalFresh hey man if I can do anything, anything at all to help you get back on your feet let me know. Truly my heart goes out to you. I sent you an email also
