Well, it happened...

This stinks of foul play. Nobody opens a package to someone else and gets into the package like that. The type of person who would is NOT the type to call the cops on themselves for committing mail fraud or theft or whatever they want to call it. An address isn’t a name. They’d be the type that will keep it or toss it. And they’ll be the type who’d keep magazines. It’s possible that vendor has a tail on them. And they’ll followed it to you and gave themselves probable cause. The letter opener probably a CI, relative of the police, or ?

It’s just hot human nature to open someone’s package and have morals enough to report a magazine.

Sorry, I’m a multiple arrest guy, and have been though 2 multiple felony crimes in the system. I’m pretty good as gauging human behavior, what’s normal and what’s not. How the police work. This has me skeeved out a little honestly.

Oh, this was March.

Recently it appears that I have unfortunately become an extremely rare statistic within our little community. The mail carrier misdelivered a package that allegedly had magazines within it, and the person to whom they delivered it accidentally opened it and phoned the police over whatever they found. A search warrant was served on my place and I was arrested for unrelated items. They didn't charge me with everything they found and they didn't charge me with this supposed package yet either.
This has really turned my life upside down and while the amounts weren't staggering, it doesn't look good. I am very worried now that the feds may try to charge me with dealing just based on the amounts even though I certainly am not and never have. The prospect of going to prison over this is very overwhelming but I am extremely addicted and even now I am wondering if I can just get a PO box and keep going. I feel quite alone now and fearful, my life was going so well.

What do you guys think? How do I cope with this situation? What is the likelihood that my incoming mail is being watched now and for how long might that be the case? I have already spoken with a lawyer and they do not seem hopeful on getting the search warrant overturned. At this point I think I am just going to stop and try my hardest to get used to being sober again. My lawyer has recommended I do inpatient rehab to help my case so I may do that if insurance will cover it.

Be safe guys and do not skimp on opsec.
@ithappens doesn't appear to be here any longer. Joined to post only this little story sure makes me wonder if they wanted to test their writing skills?!

Who knows...I do have some lived experience but it wasn't anything close to this...ehhh...things are different with different states and agencies, for sure.

I personally wonder about informed Delivery. I was told by someone who ought to know that using informed delivery was “proof.”
I feel like that isn’t correct. I use informed delivery for every package.
But to be on the safe side, always always always use an alternative tracker for anything and everything. It is not fun when they show up at your door.

omg...just ordered my first subscription, now I'm terrified, I doubt my OPSEC is up to par.

I don't know what this means. Your OPSEC?
Me either! But I see it being used on the forum all the time, I understand it to mean the measures you take to protect your identity, not leave a trail, and basically make it hard for scammers and the authorities.

Does “informed delivery” mean (mail) tracking info?

It does. Just clicking on the pack and seeing where it is is enough.

Opsec I think the forum has threads on if need info. But more than half of opsec relies on vendors, some have it some don’t. Read past and most recent reviews before donating for books and you’ll get a better idea of publishers “opsec”, esp internationally

  4. Gulp2788 @ Gulp2788: whereas if I use fiat to buy something the money is green anyway. Monero does this really well. Anyway rant over, you can DM me if you'd like to talk more about cryptos.
  5. Gulp2788 @ Gulp2788: I don't really think that people understand the whole point of cryptos in the first place anymore. BTC just won't be adopted by governments because the transactions are too public and what's worse, money that is freshly minted is better than money that has been used. Like if my btc was used for something that was illegal does that mean the money is "poisoned"?
  6. Gulp2788 @ Gulp2788: @xenxra Yeah, Like I said I've never really been that fond of btc, it isn't used as a currency, just as a place for people to invest money in, even though the whole purpose of btc was to be a currency. If it doesn't fulfill that role, what does? Monero certainly does.

  8. shoutback @ shoutback: Volkanovski is the greatest featherweight of all time. Better than Aldo or Holloway at their peaks.
  9. S @ sawganaut: I bet btc bottom is in
  10. D @ dragnetopher: No, I don’t think it. I know it. And it’s not just bitcoin, it’s all crypto. And like I said, they’re selling to acquire liquidity for when countries truly start utilizing what’s been set in place. The USD is under controlled demolition as we speak. This is all part of it.
  11. xenxra @ xenxra: there is no shortage of whales - https://tikolu.net/i/fmnru.png
  12. xenxra @ xenxra: tokenisation is not a plan its already been happening for months, ive been trading this whole move on silver through ethereum
  13. xenxra @ xenxra: you think whales are dumping bitcoin because of something everyone has known about for like 4 years? what does bitcoin liquidity have to do with trading tokenized assets? they don't have pooled liquidity.
  14. D @ dragnetopher: Whales are tanking BTC due to the fact that the future is coming now, literally. There’s a plan to tokenize every single asset possible. This is whales dumping so they can have liquidity for the Springtime.
  15. xenxra @ xenxra: @Gulp2788 this is a terrible spot to buy bitcoin haphazardly because it's going down another $5k -$7k if 80,000 doesn't hold. i told everyone to get the fuck out of bitcoin at $103k. it's better to buy late when the bottom is more certain than throw darts and act like the opposite outcome was unavoidable just because it went down "a lot" and everyone seems to be "freaking out". wait for it to get back over 85k
  16. xenxra @ xenxra: @aarons the last time i said monero was on discount in here it went up 5x in 3 months
  17. Gulp2788 @ Gulp2788: good opportunity to buy more btc if you are gonna do so imo, me I'm buying the btc to switch into better currencies
  18. Gulp2788 @ Gulp2788: bah politics, no need to worry BTC is a honeypot anyway
  19. fishladder @ fishladder: down since trump
  20. Gulp2788 @ Gulp2788: btc has been hovering around 90k for a year everyone is freaking out tbh I am laughing
