What dose of oxycontin will a pain management Dr start you on

I just went to a pain management Dr for the first time. my mri shows i have a herniated disc. I told the Dr I have been talking ibuprofen and it has not been working and I asked him for something for pain. He said anything stronger then the ibuprofen would be narcotic and he doesn't want to give me that at this point. He wants to try a epidural shot first. If the epidural shot does not work what narcotic pain medication will he most likely start me on and what dose ?

It really depends on what state you are in but he may start you on vicodin 5's if he starts you at all on pain meds.. I know a lot of the pain management clinics like to push the steroid injections. If he doesn't prescribe any pain meds after your MRI and you feel like you need them (and can responsibly take them) then I would go elsewhere..
