While I wait for Coinbase to verify my account I thought I’d see if anyone here has thoughts regarding my f2f issue with pain clinic.  First off I’ve had chronic pain due to recurring pain after cervical fusion nearly 20 years ago and had been prescribed strong pain meds including fentanyl patch and oral oxy 15 mg 6x a day.  In Spring of 2018 new doc I saw in Oregon cut me off patches (cold turkey) and decreased Oxy’s to 4 a day.  After so many years on such high doses of opioids looking back I’m glad she did that because I agree I was on much more than necessary.  In September of 2018 I moved to another state and into a new pain clinic and after a number of months was asked by PA to go in for 6 weeks Physical Therapy so Medicare would pay for a new MRI.  Due to me being the only person able to work and having just started a new job I wasn’t able to do PT at that time as my schedule was on day to day basis so no idea what my hours would be.  Pain Doc stated  until I was able to complete PT and get MRI he could no longer prescribe pain meds. Fair enough and at that time June 2019 I was only taking meds extremely sparingly so had quite a few squirreled away.  Fast forward to September and I was having extreme pain flare ups to the point of being in near constant pain.  I went in and saw my GP (didn’t ask for pain meds) but felt it was time to try PT and get MRI.  After completing PT and getting new MRI was now diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease and referred back to Pain Clinic and to see Neurosurgeon.  Called to get into Pain doc but was over month before he could get me in, 2 months for Neuro (argh)!  So at that point I’m in serious pain and ask GP for something until I see pain doc.  She prescribes 30 days of Tramadol to get me by (better than ibuprofen I guess).  So I see Pain Doc who now then says I violated contract because I got Tramadol from GP (oh my goodness) I say there was nothing else I could due but suffer a whole extra month (what the frick).  He also says they will get me in for an injection but must get prior authorization then will discuss pain meds. I wait a month and hear nothing, call leaving messages twice, no call back.  Then my insurance is cancelled since I make too much money fair enough but Pain Clinic NEVER tried to get authorization!!!  By now it’s January and I’m still miserable, have no insurance, call Pain Clinic to get in and talk to PA and ask what can I do now.  Guess what he won’t even see me until I have injection and had them cancel my appointment!  I ask why and she says cuz I got Tramadol from GP.  I was livid and asked why someone didn’t call me back about injections or try and get authorization, she says I’m sorry I don’t know what happened....

After going through all this I’m disgusted with them and don’t know what to do.  I’ve always prided myself on being told what a great patient I am never asking for early fills and always letting other Doctor know exactly what meds I’m on..  Now I’m even afraid to see my GP......

I'm so sorry you are going through all this. It sounds typical of today's environment. That's part of the reason so many are here. I don't have any recommendations for you but wish you the best of luck.

@TmD1968 I'm just reading your post & curious what ever happened with your situation?  What a sad story & such a shitty thing their doing to you.  One thing I have learned over time is to keep moving forward & you will find a Dr. with empathy & compassion who will be able to pull his/her head out of her ass & give you the help you deserve!

  1. xenxra @ xenxra: @WTF7218 it may as well be that way with how little effort some of the people on here make to find information that's exactly where you would expect it to be.
  2. ontovzik @ ontovzik: When I had long term shingles, lasting two months. All he could give me was a 10 day supply of dilaudid. He looked at the ground while we were talking about it. I could tell he was ashamed but it was the legislature and the governor that tied his hands. He was very upset that non-medical political people, the media, and the scared public were controlling how he treated his patients. Someday those people will need meds and a hospital bed and they will be gone.
  3. ontovzik @ ontovzik: I had a great doctor, he had the true gift of a healer and he stayed on top of all the science. He straight up told me that for many people opiods work for managing short and long term pain.
  4. ontovzik @ ontovzik: He peed it in the snow in my backyard.
  5. WTF7218 @ WTF7218: @xenxra 😆😂. Yes, but only a few brave souls will ever find the number. You must first order a Dirty Shirley from the bartender. Then you must discreetly take the cocktail napkin from under your drink and unfold it. There you will find the map to the location of the phone number, and clues to decipher the code that it is written in.
  6. xenxra @ xenxra: he left his phone number scribbled in a stall at the pub three blocks down
  7. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar I would try one of those easy online ones .. reddit gives useful info about that
  8. Alkazar @ Alkazar: @NYStateofMind I dont really have a history of abusing things, my docotr is just really stingy. I am thinking of switching.
  9. C @ Cheesus: Thanks xenxra
  10. xenxra @ xenxra: @Cheesus yeah, use snote
  11. P @ psychedpsych: Trump is cracking down….
  12. P @ psychedpsych: Hackers are the scum of the earth
  13. N @ NYStateofMind: so it was easy bc of my history
  14. N @ NYStateofMind: I didnt really tell him but he knew I needed a new script since my dr went to jail
  15. N @ NYStateofMind: @xenxra I was on Adderall since 15 years ago so my dr prescribed that w no problems and then when I lost my best friend my doctor rxed the valiums but
  16. C @ Cheesus: Temp.pm down for anyone else?
  17. xenxra @ xenxra: @NYStateofMind my doctor's have always been pretty open minded if i can actually come in and explain the pharmacological action of the drugs im seeking instead of just telling them why i think i should be prescribed. the only time it didn't work out for me is when i was trying pharmaceuticals for depression ten years ago and suggested they let me try testosterone instead (turns out i was hypogonadal so they made a mistake denying my request at face value)
  18. T @ Testisthebest: Even down here in Florida when the pill mill docs all switched over to Suboxone and/or retired you can still find some pretty liberal docs but you gotta know what to look for. Mine does "pain management, detox, anxiety, etc. And no insurance. My doc writes me 60 5mg Valium, 14 2mg Xanax and asked if I had ever tried adderal to get more focus at work as I told him I run my own business.
  19. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar do they know your history? Like I dont tell my doctor anything about myself except what they need to know,...I was able to get my dr to rx the highest dose of adderall along with valiums ..... if they dont know your history or there is no history I would just come out and ask what is the reason for their mistreatment.... they have no problem billing your insurance or taking a payment for the visit
  20. T @ Turbo259: @Layne_Cobain Thank you fam
