I swear, this is relevant. I checked the rules before posting.

I recently ran into this problem and just wanted to give some info here in the antibiotic section. Gonorrhea is an infection which is caused by the same bacteria that causes Chlamydia. The symptoms are pain during urination and, if you are a man, penile discharge. In women, it can be harder to tell if you have it. If this sounds similar to symptoms you may be experiencing, you should look up a more complete list of symptoms. Gonorrhea, if left untreated, can cause damage to your reproductive organs. It is also not fun at all.

Gonorrhea shares symptoms with a UTI. This is why it can be important to look up symptoms if you want to figure out what you have. Of course, you can simply skip all that and consult a doctor.

The treatment is very simple. For gonorrhea, a doctor will administer a shot into the fatty area of your thigh. It is 1 shot which has a success rate of around 100% for completely removing the Gonorrhea bacteria from one's body. For people who have Chlamydia, or if you decline to be tested and Chlamydia is a possibility, the treatment is slightly different, even though it is the same bacteria. Antibiotics for Chlamydia are usually dispensed as pills which are taken over 1 week.

If you are in the USA and worried that a clinic will not see you because you don't have insurance (I'm not sure if they would actually turn you away, but if you're worried), go into the emergency room. They can't turn you away.

The good news about all this is that the test for Gonorrhea used to be extremely painful. I have heard that the test has been changed to a simple test where you pee into a cup. I don't want to go into what the old test was like, but let's just say it involved a Q-tip and a mallet.

It can be scary catching an STD for the first time, especially one as bad as gonorrhea. The good news is gonorrhea is curable, thanks to the US army, who had to make a cure because their soldiers kept coming back with it. Go to the doctor and get your ass-shot and your symptoms should be gone within a week.

After catching any STD, it is important to abstain from sexual activity for at least 1-2 weeks following treatment. If any bacteria remains, it can be transmitted to your partner, and as the infection takes root in their body, it will become possible for them to transmit it back to you. It is necessary to abstain to end the cycle.

Hopefully this information will be helpful to anyone who runs into the same problem. Don't be ashamed to go into the nearest medical office and tell them you have an STD--it's what a lot of us have had to do.

Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhea are not the same bacteria, and their treatment isn't the same either. Azithromycin (1g once) typically for Chlamydia, while ceftriaxone (1 shot) for gonorrhea, and partners need to be treated as well. Antibiotic resistance is becoming a problem.

Chlamydia is often without discharge or other symptoms in both sexes and so hard to detect or may present like gonorrhea - purulent, bloody, foul-smelling discharge and other symptoms (pain/discomfort).

  14. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: hahhah right on man. they spent so much bread.
  15. L @ Layne_Cobain: Could b worse dude could be a met fan right now 😂 that payroll and no playoffs 😳 I kinda feel bad for em such an insane collapse and so insanely opposite of what happened last year with them starting terrible then catching fire all the way to the nlcs
  16. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: That Texas playoff series last year crushed out spirits lmao. They wrecked us.
  17. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: No you're pretty much spot on. We've been playing better since the firing of Hyde but I think it's just coincidence. Even though he was terrible at putting the correct relievers in at the wrong time.
  18. L @ Layne_Cobain: Exactly didn’t make a good enough offer to Burnes to keep him and didn’t go after any other top pitching then when things were over come deadline traded away a bunch altho I don’t think any of them besides O’hearn and maybe a reliever or two were doing that well but I could be remembering wrong
  19. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: *bucks
  20. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: Just needed pitching. And mister big buks didn't spend sh1it hahhaha.
