Find Out Who Prescribes In Your Area

Thank you! They are cracking down across the board; it seems nearly impossible to get help-- doctors are being bullied by de@, and don't want to lose their license

I have a disease that's common to women (it seems - although men can get it); I'm on MMT which makes me normal but I feel pain still.  I'm terrified to tell the Dr I was assigned to for my disease, as my GP doesn't handle that aspect and I need pain help and to have energy.  I did great in water physical therapy (it's all I can do). Off topic but water aerobics gives you body you can only dream of and quick.

On topic: Chitown? help? I have insurance that I don't use for MMT (they don't accept insurance, it's for profit and high-end)

okay, so I discovered propublica sometime last year. I've now had success with two doctors. One for pain meds, one for adhd meds. Both I need, legit, like I have paperwork for my back-MRI showing degeneration and sciatica, but I'm only in my early thirties and I find drs sometimes brush me off. Anyway, here's how I researched and found my drs.

For the adhd, I went to propublica and searched by state. I then looked for specific meds, like for adderall, which is DEXTROAMPHETAMINE-AMPHETAMINE on PP. You can then click on a drug and see it's usage by state. I looked to see who was the highest prescriber in my state and surrounding. I narrowed it down and found the people near me. When I was referred for an ADHD eval, two of the five names on the list were ones I remembered from PP. So, I picked one and it was easy. I'm not faking either ailment and I don't condone it. But, I didn't want a hassle to get controlled substances and I wasn't given a hassle.

For the pain dr, I just picked a med or two-like oxycodone-looked for top prescribers, then researched who my insurance took and bam, found a nice dr. I asked him for pain meds and he said ok. Granted, it's a low dose to start 5mg perkys 2 x a day plus soma 2 x a day, but I'm hoping he will increase it if I ask. They did drug test me as well.

So, it's hit or miss. The info's from 2014 so some of it's out of date. A lot of docs  are running scared, especially where I am. I had to drive a little ways to get to my new drs, totally worth it. However, it ups your chances at least in that you know that the doc is at least comfortable talking those meds. Some docs, as we all know too well, freak out at the mere mention of a scheduled substance, they won't even have a normal convo about it.

Good luck everyone!

ETA- I also used VITALS and HEALTHGRADES reading reviews for more info, sometimes people will comment on what a dr prescribes.

My ex health care pro had it in bold letters on my pain contract-page 1 120mili/day if not taking b3nzos, 90 if you were. Not sure if this ceiling was set by the clinic, le or both. I THINK it was a fairly new policy (say, in the last two years). Applied for schd two's only. ?

I'm on a huge MMT dose as well as benzo's. I have been on MMT since '90 after a fall in '87 that shattered 2 Lumbar Vertabra, & Compressed 5 others. I've had 7 total fussion attempts all unsuccessfull. Last one was in '95. Now that I've been on MMT so long my pain is getting worse & my tolerance is so high to every thing. I've been backed into this corner now for some time. I've tried telling the truth to what I'm on & that quickly get's the look like "and" in the south west. Wish there more that can be done.

@ SaintAllen that would be very help full I need to get another 12 posts in before I can PM. TY. It is a very scary place to be in.

Hello M,

Nice to meet you that is very convenient I saved it this will come in very handy as my Doctor is getting older time to retire soon. Thanks so much for sharing this. :)

Best,

P

Can you pm me so I understand this a lil better bro, any of yinz really.. I found alll of my Dr's on there and... IT'S TIME TO FIND A NEW Primary care doc after almost 20yrs.. cuz he doesn't go to bat for me like he does the 24%, and 1.3MIL??? Geeze.. he treats me like sh!+ since he stopped prescribing my pain meds.. My Pain doc is on there w/ less, at the time he was REALLY popular too.. but he's smart.. and known all over the country. I know I need 2 surgeries on my spine, and have some kinda auto immune that I can not get a straight answer on(I'm calling in 10 mins) I just need a pain doc who won't u/a me, or refuse me help. I just want back on the med I was.. this ain't livin. I had a decent life, best I could on the other med.. my stories under "Meth@d0ne" I am DONE w/ 'done, or... IDK I just wanna be able to do what I did before I got my meds jacked around, and lowered every month. I'm goin nuts.. I'm not 100% sure what to look for.. I don't want name brand, or a BUNCH of anything.. just less than what I was on before my PCP stopped writing for me.. now he don't care about jack. And after seeing his results.. I see why I'm just another # to him now he don't have to write that little # on his scripts anymore..SAD stuff. Thanks @MarcAnthony, I KNOW my doc gets paid by companies.. it makes me sick he turned his back on me full well knowing ALL my problems were caused because OF HIS ADVICE! Dr's, I do not trust anymore.

  1. WTF7218 @ WTF7218: @xenxra 😆😂. Yes, but only a few brave souls will ever find the number. You must first order a Dirty Shirley from the bartender. Then you must discreetly take the cocktail napkin from under your drink and unfold it. There you will find the map to the location of the phone number, and clues to decipher the code that it is written in.
  2. xenxra @ xenxra: he left his phone number scribbled in a stall at the pub three blocks down
  3. aBBazaBBa123 @ aBBazaBBa123: @rockychoc How do I contact you?
  4. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar I would try one of those easy online ones .. reddit gives useful info about that
  5. Alkazar @ Alkazar: @NYStateofMind I dont really have a history of abusing things, my docotr is just really stingy. I am thinking of switching.
  6. C @ Cheesus: Thanks xenxra
  7. xenxra @ xenxra: @Cheesus yeah, use snote
  8. P @ psychedpsych: Trump is cracking down….
  9. P @ psychedpsych: Hackers are the scum of the earth
  10. N @ NYStateofMind: so it was easy bc of my history
  11. N @ NYStateofMind: I didnt really tell him but he knew I needed a new script since my dr went to jail
  12. N @ NYStateofMind: @xenxra I was on Adderall since 15 years ago so my dr prescribed that w no problems and then when I lost my best friend my doctor rxed the valiums but
  13. C @ Cheesus: Temp.pm down for anyone else?
  14. xenxra @ xenxra: @NYStateofMind my doctor's have always been pretty open minded if i can actually come in and explain the pharmacological action of the drugs im seeking instead of just telling them why i think i should be prescribed. the only time it didn't work out for me is when i was trying pharmaceuticals for depression ten years ago and suggested they let me try testosterone instead (turns out i was hypogonadal so they made a mistake denying my request at face value)
  15. T @ Testisthebest: Even down here in Florida when the pill mill docs all switched over to Suboxone and/or retired you can still find some pretty liberal docs but you gotta know what to look for. Mine does "pain management, detox, anxiety, etc. And no insurance. My doc writes me 60 5mg Valium, 14 2mg Xanax and asked if I had ever tried adderal to get more focus at work as I told him I run my own business.
  16. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar do they know your history? Like I dont tell my doctor anything about myself except what they need to know,...I was able to get my dr to rx the highest dose of adderall along with valiums ..... if they dont know your history or there is no history I would just come out and ask what is the reason for their mistreatment.... they have no problem billing your insurance or taking a payment for the visit
  17. T @ Turbo259: @Layne_Cobain Thank you fam
  18. Alkazar @ Alkazar: It is INSANE how doctors treat tax paying hard working people like criminals when they ask for opioids. This world just keeps getting more and more backwards. But thanks to this site to be able to find people to help when no one in the medical world will.
  19. L @ Layne_Cobain: Hang in there @Turbo259 life can be such a Fkn sludge prayers and good vibes to you and your loved ones 🙏 ❤️
