So you buy BTC there? Didn't understand a thing :)
I got banned from coinbase due to my lack of knowledge. I made a purchase without transferring it to a separate wallet. They did not like what I purchased, so I now use gocelery.com to buy my BTC. Although, I have noticed that people prefer different BTC providers and wallets in accordance to which Country they are from. I use a electrum wallet after my gocelery purchase of coin. If you need any help, just let me know. I'll tell you everything I know regarding the process that I currently use. :D

So you bought from coinbase but put in another wallet?   I'm happy with them  Fees are really low.  A friend of mine in OZ who can't fathom it and is freaked out by the idea of  attaching a bank account found a place but fees were 7%.  That's nuts. I tried multiple times to get electrum on y computer but apple is not having it. I use Multibit HD to store money but I don't buy from them.  I buy with coinbase then move it to Multibit.

Ohhhh.... please teach me. I have electrum wallet too, so I can receive and send. But that's about it!

Can you buy from electrum?   I have 2 wallets.  Coinbase I buy from then move it to another coinbase wallet then move it to Multibit.    Earlier in this thread someone talks about tumbling which is kind of like laundering.  I don't do that.    Just getting this far was taxing my brain.   But it sure is easy when vendors only take bitcoin or WU.

Erhm....... I have no clue. I just used the website the vendor recommended. Followed the steps. I really don't know what I am doing. I don't understand it. All I know is that it makes everything more expensive. @Natty - we need her.

I did not transfer to the wallet when I had a coinbase account. You cannot buy coins from the electrum wallet.

Just look at it as virtual money.   You have money in your wallet?   You have Bitcoin in your virtual wallet.   Google Bitcoin Wallets and your location and you'll get tons of options.  I've talked to @Natty about this.  She pays much more in fees with GoCelery but her first option was CoinBase.   read through this thread.  There are lots of suggestions.

As for things being more expensive, at the very least it should be equal since most places give a 20% or more discount for using bitcoins.  It maybe ends up being the same if you used a credit card but lots of vendors won't take them.

I was utterly confused too but once you get the basics, which is all I really get, ( don't ask me about clockchain)  then you're good to go.  If you want to buy btc, you have to have a wallet that lets you buy.

If you're in the US try Coinbase.  I'm happy with it. Also happy with Multibit but just use that for holding my btc.

Ok, this may seem confusing when setting it up, but once you figure it out, it really is not hard to comprehend. I do not tumble my coins so I cannot answer anything related to the sort.

Open a account on coinbase, and I believe you will have lower fees than gocelery. Coinbase is also faster in its waiting period. Like I have mentioned, I did not have that account very long because after my first purchase I got banned. If you can make a account via Coinbase, or Gocelery, then let me know. Of course, try to look around and familiarize yourself with the site/sites. To transfer the Coin to your wallet it is as simple as a copy and paste feature. Its just random key address of letters and numbers.

Lol, I'm a guy.

But yea, you can actually make money with bitcoins. Things are actually cheaper if you find the right vendor. Like mimi said, they offer discounts at many places. You want to buy your coins when they are cheap, and make your purchases when BTC is high. I like to monitor this website http://www.coindesk.com/price/

Gocelery has a %10 fee fyi, but I have actually made $60 letting coin sit in my wallet because I bought the coin when it was low.

I am not in the US, but Sweden, but I can try coinbase anyway? I am setting up with them now. Is that a wallet like Electrum? Says my ID is valid but from wrong country. Um......... eh............

That is one issue I was speaking of, being in a different Country. There are many out there that you can try, I only have a little experience with Coinbase. Try gocelery. It is based in the States so I don't know if this will be any different. After you try that let me know. I have other ideas. Zirwox is a place I purchased b4, it just cost a bit more. But really, what is a few bucks. I will do all I can to help ya. Xcoins might be another option. There are many, like I said let me know and I'm here to help. :D

Oh and coinbase, as far as I know is a wallet, but you do not want to purchase certain items that they frown upon or else you will be banned like moi.

Google BTC wallet sweden.   That's the easiest way and look at comments others make.   Sometimes some have restrictions on where you can buy from so that is a consideration.   I saw Coinbase and one called Safello.  There are a lot you just have to do some homework.   Google the name of the wallet and reviews. and that'll help.  And if you set up one and don't like it you can always open another.

I saw this on Reddit.  Hope it's ok to put this link.

@Natty Sorry, I thought you were a guy but I spaced.  Or you need some electrolysis. Lol.

BTC value is going up. If your going to purchase, check it out. Now is the time. I've been checking everyday for quite some time.

@cassandra73 did you get your coin set up?

Have a good day everyone

Kills me to spend so much when I bought it at $700.   Makes my wallet nice and fat right now.

I have the electrum wallet, but i don't know the best place to buy without having to document my whole life . I want the bitcoins to end up in my electrum wallet. So, where is the easiest place to buy BTC for my electrum wallet?

Gah... think I have to wait until salery though. Six - seven days. But maybe I can swing it. We shall see. Thank you for the tagg and information.

you can purchase through virwox and it requires very little info. The fees are higher though. I went on you tube and found a video on how to convert the purchase to coins.

@cassandra73,there are a myriad of bitcoin exchanges out there too. All you do is purchase coins from registered sellers, the site I use in the UK has its own wallet, I just transfer over to my multibit HD wallet.

So you mean you have a wallet specifically for that purchase and then you transfer that to your preferred wallet for whatever you are going to spend the BTC on? Did I get that right?

  1. Gulp2788 @ Gulp2788: whereas if I use fiat to buy something the money is green anyway. Monero does this really well. Anyway rant over, you can DM me if you'd like to talk more about cryptos.
  2. Gulp2788 @ Gulp2788: I don't really think that people understand the whole point of cryptos in the first place anymore. BTC just won't be adopted by governments because the transactions are too public and what's worse, money that is freshly minted is better than money that has been used. Like if my btc was used for something that was illegal does that mean the money is "poisoned"?
  3. Gulp2788 @ Gulp2788: @xenxra Yeah, Like I said I've never really been that fond of btc, it isn't used as a currency, just as a place for people to invest money in, even though the whole purpose of btc was to be a currency. If it doesn't fulfill that role, what does? Monero certainly does.
  4. tiquanunderwood @ tiquanunderwood: What's good guys! Just got back home. Missing football today :( Fuck the probowl lol

  6. S @ sawganaut: I bet btc bottom is in
  7. D @ dragnetopher: No, I don’t think it. I know it. And it’s not just bitcoin, it’s all crypto. And like I said, they’re selling to acquire liquidity for when countries truly start utilizing what’s been set in place. The USD is under controlled demolition as we speak. This is all part of it.

  9. xenxra @ xenxra: tokenisation is not a plan its already been happening for months, ive been trading this whole move on silver through ethereum
  10. xenxra @ xenxra: you think whales are dumping bitcoin because of something everyone has known about for like 4 years? what does bitcoin liquidity have to do with trading tokenized assets? they don't have pooled liquidity.
  11. D @ dragnetopher: Whales are tanking BTC due to the fact that the future is coming now, literally. There’s a plan to tokenize every single asset possible. This is whales dumping so they can have liquidity for the Springtime.
  12. xenxra @ xenxra: @Gulp2788 this is a terrible spot to buy bitcoin haphazardly because it's going down another $5k -$7k if 80,000 doesn't hold. i told everyone to get the fuck out of bitcoin at $103k. it's better to buy late when the bottom is more certain than throw darts and act like the opposite outcome was unavoidable just because it went down "a lot" and everyone seems to be "freaking out". wait for it to get back over 85k
  13. xenxra @ xenxra: @aarons the last time i said monero was on discount in here it went up 5x in 3 months
  14. Gulp2788 @ Gulp2788: good opportunity to buy more btc if you are gonna do so imo, me I'm buying the btc to switch into better currencies
