What Are Some Of The Things That Annoy You?

When someone calls you on your cell phone from their cell phone; while you are both in the same general space.

When you don't answer (because you are sane AND walking towards them to engage in real face-to-face conversation) they yell:

"Hey, I'm calling you on your phone!"

Meet my favorite employer...I call her many things.

SHE just calls me

That is beyond annoying.
Another endless night. FML. Even my guardian cat is sleeping peacefully. Jerk.

Saying "I would of" rather than "I would have".

I'm not the language police, but this one drives me nuts. It's like the phonetic sound of the contraction "would've". Grrrr!!

LMAO... that's funny, hooter1, I've never noticed it in your posts, but "BorkBork" SwedishChef (and his later incarnations) did it ALL the time and it was exactly that for me ~ nails on a chalkboard!! :-)

also, hooter1, after I stopped laughing about your "dumbing down" comment, I got a little nostalgic...

I also had to change my speaking habits between work and my Dad's home....its funny to think about since he's been gone so long now and I don't have to do anymore. I could change from "wall street" to redneck "main street" in the blink of an eye! LOL

People's grammar and spelling generally is a disappointment to me, especially in a professional environment. Don't get me wrong, i will slip into lazy grammar and use slang personally and be fine with it. But professionally, WOW! Some of the letters, sales flyers and general correspondence leave a LOT to be desired. I always think "don't you care how you/your company sound?" The advertisements I get from companies that want me (at my job) to use their services are unbelievable! I have been known to circle all of the errors in red and send it back to them. I mean, if you can't spell or you have poor grammar, have someone else do it!

Cat, you are hilarious, although I know this is irritating and I share your displeasure 100%.

I laughed imagining you sending a single page flyer back to a company the way a 4th grade teacher might return a book report to a student...embarrassing (for them)

I once attended a large gathering to welcome home a person who had been away from his family for some time.

Upon my arrival I gasped at the banner that was flying high above the entrance (a public location)

It read:

"WELOME HOME JERRY"

I commented to the host that the kids must have been so proud of the banner they made.

Radio Silence...

Thank you Team of Adults for catching that one!

You're Welome

Totally agree Cat. Business vs online boards or cell text: big difference. I review the correspondence for my office; some of it is just embarrassing! Clients must wonder why they deal with us sometimes :-P. I try to help the younger guys ("did you consider saying ...") but the older ones - arrogant and stuck in their ways. I just grit my teeth and initial it!

Another thing that annoys me (right after a 4 day road trip to visit branch offices): drivers who pull out in front of me - when there isn't a vehicle in sight behind me - and then drive slower than I was going. Pace cars - they make me crazy!

Glad i could give you a giggle...and you did for me as well. I would have internally combusted when I saw the banner!

Some people need to go back to fourth grade and learn how to speak and write.

I always assume that if someone has something embarassing grammatically or misspelled, they want my help. Sometimes they don't. Lol! The last one i sent back was from a company advertising snowplowing......they spelled plowing "plouing". AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. PROOFREAD YOUR SHIT! Lol!

Doctors annoy me for the obvious reasons but for this reason as well.......

I recently took over the management of a couple of high-end medical office buildings. On the first of the month the doctors would call me and say "the rent check is ready" and i would say "great, bring it on over to my office". They would say "oh, i am much too busy". Their building is less than a block away from my office. They think that their time is MUCH more important than mine. I reminded them it was their responsibility to get me the rent check. They played the waiting game with me. I served them a five day notice to vacate the premises due to unpaid rent. They tried to give me the check when i served the notice. I said " no, i need certified funds and plus, now you owe me late fees and attorney's fees". Five percent of 8 grand is a chunk of change. They had to pay it. This went on for TWO months. On the first of this month, guess who dropped their rent check off to me? I hate having to train them like animals. I mean who in the FUCK do they think that they are?

And that is why doctors annoy me.

LOL, I sat here and literally laughed out loud as I read your post! One of our funds had TIC interests in a small portfolio of out patient surgery centers for a period of time, and I had the EXACT same experience. In fact, my account of it would match yours verbatim. Ego issues amongst our friendly physicians perhaps? LOL

I was kind of hoping you saw that Jewy! I thought you might understand. I think they probably want someone to wipe their own ass for sure! But, management has their ways...........honestly, i look at my tenants as animals, not people. Lol!

Another short Doctor story.....

So this dentist calls me and says "it is way too hot in my suite, my patients are uncomfortable and are complaining. I am dripping sweat. I demand you reimburse me for the clients that have left because of this, which is your fault!" MY FAULT? REALLY? So i go over there, with my trusty hygrometer and it is 79 degrees, which IS hot. The thermostat was set on 80 degrees. I flipped on his a/c and in about a half hour later suite is cooler, down to 71. Couple hours later he calls again "it is getting hot in here, i demand you reimburse me for my monthly rent, as your heating system is malfunctioning and my patients are way too hot"! He goes on and on about how i am making him suffer and there is no excuse for it. So i go over again, and the heat is on 80 again. I tell him that the HVAC is working just fine. Someone set it to 80. I gathered his staff (this is not my first rodeo) to get to bottom of it. Turns out his receptionist was cold and kept turning the heat up, sweating out the doctor. Did i get an apology? Not even close. I got a " you (meaning me) need to make sure this never happens again". REALLY?

  3. ClintEastwood @ ClintEastwood: Robert Duvall and a handful of others were a younger actors coach and always said no one worked as hard as those guys did. Robert Duvall and rest would read the full script 228 over and over, then after the last read they would go into how to perform their character. The young man had made it to meet Al who are greats and pull them to the side. And explain what his coach said. They all looked back and said out of every role you’ve seen me in. I have read it 228 by myself. 🫡 🫢 🫢 🫢
  4. ClintEastwood @ ClintEastwood: Sorry for comment below, but I couldn’t delete. Know I see the
  5. Realbenzeyes @ Realbenzeyes: Yeah Robert Duvall passing is a hard one. RIP
  6. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Damn. Just heard Robert Duvall passed away Sunday. That’s a tough one. He’s one of my favorite actors. From Lonesome Dove to the Godfather and many others. We will miss you Mr Duvall. You entertained us for 7 decades. RIP
  7. L @ Layne_Cobain: @ClintEastwood make a post about it homie they’re gonna take down your message here cuz shout box isn’t really for talking shop just random shooting the shit exc but yeh just put your message in a post on the forum in the appropriate place and ppl will get at you! 👊 ✌️

  9. Realbenzeyes @ Realbenzeyes: I always thought I should’ve been born in a much earlier time but I will say, i do enjoy my Xbox and occasional TV series tho 😂
  10. Realbenzeyes @ Realbenzeyes: I just wish the opioid epidemic never happened. Fk the turn of the century (which would be cool no doubt)! Many of my friends and family would’ve ended up in asylums like so many others. I just wish I could get back all those I’ve lost since the start
  11. L @ Layne_Cobain: 1914 I meant
  12. L @ Layne_Cobain: I often wish I lived during the turn of the century or at least before the Harrison narcotics act or whatever I think it was 1924 the fun ended but anyway yeh being able to get laudanum, ❄️ and amphetamine at the local friendly pharmacy
  13. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Chew on the leaves with a bit of slaked lime and enjoy the mild boost you get from the raw base.
  14. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I’m sure you know the folks in the mountainous regions along South Americas pacific side buy cócà leaves at the local farmers market just to help acclimate to the higher elevation when they have to head up into the hills.
  15. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I would certainly have bought it, swilled it, enjoyed it…. Why not? A little boost in your juice isn’t going to hurt anyone.
  16. R @ Royboy99: Exports were reported to have around 7.2mg per FL OZ, it’s success is what actually led to Coca Cola
  17. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Having cramps and husband thinks you’re acting hysterical (ie. PMS) the doc would either perform a certain massage to relieve the strains of motherhood and family life of that time or send you down to the local apothecary for a bottle of laudanum… A tincture of alcohol and 10% òpìųm. Fun days huh?
  18. R @ Royboy99: @malestrom: yeah thats it, my bad Mariani, yeah i considered that and also its ROA, which was oral so the bioavailability was lower than insufflation, higher degree of purity tho and longer duration … there was a significant marked increase of patents filed by Edison during the time it was released in the US. Presidents were known to use it as well, and the Queen. The pope awarded the wine the Vatican gold medal award
  19. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I think it was called vin Mariani. But yeah, it was all the rave back in the turn to the 20th century. Original formula Coca Cola did it for a while too. I think it was pretty weak though. Something like 200 mg per liter of wine. Enough to maybe give you a little push but unless you could pound some serious alcohol, it’d be hard to really feel the effects before the ethyl knocked you down on the ground. It was an interesting time period. Laudanum was a “hysterical” woman’s best friend.
  20. R @ Royboy99: Maybe it’s the admixture of my South American dna that works so well with it ? 🤷
