Hey hey I was diagnosed with inattentive adhd and I'm currently taking vyvanse and while it does improve focus, still easy to fall asleep. I take 40 then 30 later on in the day since it wore off too fast with just one dose in the morning.

Would adderall or some other stimulant be better for wakefulness and motivation? Just trying to find the right one for me.(modafinil does not work on me)

Adeline tends to help with focus, but motivation is an eternal situation. It helps with attentiveness, but finding a purpose assists with motivation. If you don't want to do it now, then having a stimulant isn't going to make you want to do it.

My understanding is some medicines are noepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitors which increase the amount in your system but don't directly simulate their release. This makes you more focused and feel less impulsive but doesn't do anything for motivation. Some medication directly stimulate the release of these things which then give you an association with dopamine for completing tasks, which leads to motivation.

here;s some eternal wisdom i was given some years ago: motivation comes from action, not the other way around! As someone with ADD I find that I'm never "motivated" by my stimulant medication, but when I begrudgingly put the phone down and just start doing the laundry or whatever iit is I'm not inspired to do, lol, something happens, like a switch where once you get started, and the medication is kicking in, you just sort of become engrossed in the task. Action creates the energy and motivation, no drug is gonna inspire you to clean a filthy toilet or do your homework or whatever it is, but if you just start doing things, I've found I start almost hyperfocusing on the tasks, and suddenly i'm in Action Mode. This is something you gotta be careful with of course, don't become a tweaker, it's why the cliche of the guy on meth who starts dissasembling his engine block or the housewife taking apart the tv remote because she wants it to be clean, even on the inside and suddenly she's using q tips to clean the microchips inside the remote. Anyways I thihnk you get the point. You gotta check yourself on both ends:getting up and starting a task, and making sure you don't hyperfocus too much where you get into tweaker territory.

  6. Ketmaster @ Ketmaster: Pretty sure most pharmacies won't honor a prescription from those kinds of services.

  15. CnC5 @ CnC5: @LatsDoodis so who do you use now??? I heard adhd online is a good and easy place to get adderall! Please let me know who you go through! Thanks!
  16. LatsDoodis @ LatsDoodis: Pharmacies, too. I switched my psychiatrist and just went through a pill mill telehealth place for a half year, then it got popular and all major pharmacies stopped filling Rx stims for this company’s independent contractor-providers, regardless of any reason than they treated ADHD patients with stims and it was a lot of people. Independent medical judgment from clinicians licensed and following rules. I needed the treatment. Who cares how many patients use the company? They followed the rules.
  17. LatsDoodis @ LatsDoodis: That’s wild. It should be medical judgment, not corporate fear of lawsuits. Go set that doc straight. You need to have pain controlled aggressively or not at all. Be consistent.
