For mainly UK members who are familiar with this awful singer: Did anyone used to think it was "Children on the fire and logs on the tree?"

Mince pies in the shops in about a month and a half... Christmas puddings too.

*Groan*

No! lol to your question.

You're probably right about all the paraphernalia to do with xmas though.  Or at least the subliminal spells will start to appear soon.  I think November will be more appropriate time to start.

I'm not a fan of Christmas in general, I'm a little bit too asocial for all that to be honest.

But the coziness and warmth of that time of year, I love it. The thought of it keeps me going through all these horrible, long, humid, hot days. I just think of the sound of snow under my boots and seeing my breath in the wintry air. Ahh. There is hope. =D

But the songs, the tack, the commercialism, the rampant drunkenness - sod all that.

Ha-ha, yes I don't like the excessive capitalism/commercialism. It didn't used to start so bloody early either. I have fond memories of playing with my SNES, as a kid though (after badgering my Mum for months!).

I got a SNES one xmas, opened it up fairly early as you do when you're a kid. But wasn't allowed to play it until the end of the day when my parents were watching the soaps lol.

Xmas is good when you're a kid you'd look forward to it. Watching the coca cola advert all the good films on tv. Now its, I can't wait till this is all over.

I feel exactly the same. Shame really.

Mario World and Street Fighter II were my favourites. :)  Sega games were ridiculously hard... so preferred Nintendo, more of a gradual learning curve.

I preferred Mario Cart and Zelda. Spent many hours in my youth playing them when it's raining or it's winter.

Oh my god! Huge nostalgia going on here! I played the SNES; whenever we went on holiday that used to be the 'portable' thing we'd bring. There was one time it was my 10th birthday, we were in a caravan, and I was playing it in the morning before anyone else got up.

Street Fighter 2 (Turbo). I remember that so well...! That was my favourite... I played Super Mario World a lot as well. And I wonder if this game rings a bell for anyone: Bubsy! I used to love that so much! Then there was Doom. I played that, luckily my parents were a little lenient with me playing games like that.

Saying all this, I did have a Playstation at the time, but when we went on holiday we'd bring the SNES. Ah, memories. =)

And yeah, the excitement of Christmas morning as a kid. This is typical me being gloomy, but I remember the excitement fading when I was about 12/13, and desperately wanting that Christmas feeling to stay. =/

Mario Cart! Somebody lent me that and I loved it. Never got into Zelda, but keep hearing that various versions were "The best game of all time".

I also loved point and click's by LucasArts on the Amiga. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is the most wonderful game I have ever played. Funny, likeable characters, brain-frazzling puzzles. :)

Would like a Next-Gen console but need a job first...

Busby, I remember that game. Running around as a cat throwing knitting balls. There are loads of good games from that generation.

@ElectroNymph I would go for a PS4 if you ever get a next gen console, and play The last of us, if you like games with likable characters that develop as the story progresses with puzzles throughout.

I always preferred the look of the PS4. I heard "The Last of Us" is a good game. Fancied 'Heavy Rain' on the PS3 too.

I always preferred the PlayStation to the xbox, so that's why I got a ps4. Heavy rain was ok. It's kind of like a movie, except you get to make decision that effect the out come off the game. Like trying to tell if someone is lying when you ask them questions them. Definitely a different type of game to your FPS or RPG

Sorry to butt in on the conversation, but I've always preferred the Playstation too. I've had (and still have) all of the first three, although these days I don't play games enough to justify forking out for a PS4 quite yet. I've played The Last of Us (on the PS3), and did quite enjoy it. I didn't complete it (although actually finishing games is pretty rare for me..). I was sort of expecting more of a survival horror out of it really. I think I'm always crying out for a revival of the golden era of survival horror. Ever since that damn Resident Evil 4 came out horror games have just been dominated by all that 'dynamic combat' rubbish...

I have my absolute favourite horror game, and game overall, but I won't shut up about it, so I'll keep schtum...

I'm not really motivated by going around splattering things to be honest. I like a good story, characters and a good helping of humour and intrigue. Black humour is good too. Though I love cult horror films; games don't really bother me - except for Harlan Ellison's "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream". 90's game, very dark and unusual.

I use my ps4 to watch YT vids,  Netflix etc. Its better to watch on a 42‘‘ TV then a 15‘‘ Laptop. And use it for gaming, probably a 50/50 split

Think Outlast is the most freaky, jump scare game i've played recently. You're a reporter who has to go to an abandoned asylum with only a cam recorder, no weapons.  To report on a story about people going missing.

That does sound like an interesting game, it's just I can jump at horror films but not games. Weird. Sounds a bit like "[REC]" - Spanish horror film.

  1. xenxra @ xenxra: @WTF7218 it may as well be that way with how little effort some of the people on here make to find information that's exactly where you would expect it to be.
  2. ontovzik @ ontovzik: When I had long term shingles, lasting two months. All he could give me was a 10 day supply of dilaudid. He looked at the ground while we were talking about it. I could tell he was ashamed but it was the legislature and the governor that tied his hands. He was very upset that non-medical political people, the media, and the scared public were controlling how he treated his patients. Someday those people will need meds and a hospital bed and they will be gone.
  3. ontovzik @ ontovzik: I had a great doctor, he had the true gift of a healer and he stayed on top of all the science. He straight up told me that for many people opiods work for managing short and long term pain.
  4. ontovzik @ ontovzik: He peed it in the snow in my backyard.
  5. WTF7218 @ WTF7218: @xenxra 😆😂. Yes, but only a few brave souls will ever find the number. You must first order a Dirty Shirley from the bartender. Then you must discreetly take the cocktail napkin from under your drink and unfold it. There you will find the map to the location of the phone number, and clues to decipher the code that it is written in.
  6. xenxra @ xenxra: he left his phone number scribbled in a stall at the pub three blocks down
  7. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar I would try one of those easy online ones .. reddit gives useful info about that
  8. Alkazar @ Alkazar: @NYStateofMind I dont really have a history of abusing things, my docotr is just really stingy. I am thinking of switching.
  9. C @ Cheesus: Thanks xenxra
  10. xenxra @ xenxra: @Cheesus yeah, use snote
  11. P @ psychedpsych: Trump is cracking down….
  12. P @ psychedpsych: Hackers are the scum of the earth
  13. N @ NYStateofMind: so it was easy bc of my history
  14. N @ NYStateofMind: I didnt really tell him but he knew I needed a new script since my dr went to jail
  15. N @ NYStateofMind: @xenxra I was on Adderall since 15 years ago so my dr prescribed that w no problems and then when I lost my best friend my doctor rxed the valiums but
  16. C @ Cheesus: Temp.pm down for anyone else?
  17. xenxra @ xenxra: @NYStateofMind my doctor's have always been pretty open minded if i can actually come in and explain the pharmacological action of the drugs im seeking instead of just telling them why i think i should be prescribed. the only time it didn't work out for me is when i was trying pharmaceuticals for depression ten years ago and suggested they let me try testosterone instead (turns out i was hypogonadal so they made a mistake denying my request at face value)
  18. T @ Testisthebest: Even down here in Florida when the pill mill docs all switched over to Suboxone and/or retired you can still find some pretty liberal docs but you gotta know what to look for. Mine does "pain management, detox, anxiety, etc. And no insurance. My doc writes me 60 5mg Valium, 14 2mg Xanax and asked if I had ever tried adderal to get more focus at work as I told him I run my own business.
  19. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar do they know your history? Like I dont tell my doctor anything about myself except what they need to know,...I was able to get my dr to rx the highest dose of adderall along with valiums ..... if they dont know your history or there is no history I would just come out and ask what is the reason for their mistreatment.... they have no problem billing your insurance or taking a payment for the visit
  20. T @ Turbo259: @Layne_Cobain Thank you fam
