How do you find EHR? Is it effective in hastening the healthcare service of the hospitals or it just makes the patients feel uncomfortable with possible privacy issues?

Not sure about the question in this matter. EHR is just the system that is used in all hospitals in a way that saves space and time. They used to have walls of records to get your records, and then if you transferred, they would have to deliver your records either through ROI to fax or specialized mail services. If you are worried about privacy, HIPAA protects you; if you are worried about your file, it is your right in the United States to go to the records department of your hospital and request your records. Once your records are over 100 pages, doctors, PAs, and nurses do not have the time to look at them; they will look at note annotations of your last few visits. That is why people get caught in medication shopping; sometimes, the records take a while to transfer. They also have a database now for controlled substances that doctors and pharmacists can use if you are a frequent flyer.

Depending on your state you can opt-out of certain EHR . EPIC is a digital Electronic Health Record system that is used by a large percentage of hospitals, providers etc and are easily seen by all providers. If you take issue with something in your records you can request a form to have the records reviewed and changed or you can provide additional information. Check with your state, hospital and physicians to see which EHR system they use. Don’t sign a blank “release of health information form “. You can control specific dates, providers etc others gain access to.
The PDMP is a national database for every prescription filled. This helps prevent multiple prescriptions being filled for meds.
To see a potential physician’s prescription writing history go to ProPublica Provider Check Up and enter Dr’s name and state. The information may be a couple years old but it gives you a glimpse at their history of medication prescriptions written.
