Not sure about the question in this matter. EHR is just the system that is used in all hospitals in a way that saves space and time. They used to have walls of records to get your records, and then if you transferred, they would have to deliver your records either through ROI to fax or specialized mail services. If you are worried about privacy, HIPAA protects you; if you are worried about your file, it is your right in the United States to go to the records department of your hospital and request your records. Once your records are over 100 pages, doctors, PAs, and nurses do not have the time to look at them; they will look at note annotations of your last few visits. That is why people get caught in medication shopping; sometimes, the records take a while to transfer. They also have a database now for controlled substances that doctors and pharmacists can use if you are a frequent flyer. How do you find EHR? Is it effective in hastening the healthcare service of the hospitals or it just makes the patients feel uncomfortable with possible privacy issues?
