Most benzo's can be taken sublingually. The effects come on quicker than just swallowing it immediately, but they generally won't last as long. Also, ativan and most roche rivitrol seem to dissolve right when they get wet whereas Alp usually takes longer.
I use them for both.
I have years of experience with subs and EVERY other opioid maintenence technique. My various Sub doctors always gave me K-pins. I mean honestly a Sub doctor would have to be an idiot to deny benzo's to one of their patients. Patients at sub clinics are generally severe opiate addicts that have/had been using for months to decade. Sure they have bupe from the subs to help with cravin and such, but it doesn't do much for anxiety, depression, and the many other disorders brought on by years of opiate use. Someone trying to recover from an opiate addiction will be much more likely to stick to their maintenence program if they take benzo's in non-abuseable doses to cope with all the stress while they begin to develop actual healthy coping habits to replace the medications.
