would you guys consider  20-35mg of diaz weekly for situational anxiety to be problematic?

Just recently i have had a recurrence of panic issues. I am generally cool at home and when

doing the occasional errand. But my other interests are giving me grief. I walk in to my gym

and it starts , i go for a swim the anxiety kicks in , even a social drink is getting worse.

So I have been using the above amount on a weekly basis , usually 10mg at a time.....!

just looking for input and opinions......

cheers.

It is kind of hard to say really but I think you are in the safe zone.  You're averaging 5 mgs/day which is low but the most important thing (to avoid dependence)  is to have full skip days between using.

Let's see. 10 mg of val = 1 mg of zanny or 1 mg of addy van.

So you are taking 2 to 4 pills a week. If you find yourself uping that gradually then you will have dependency issues in my opinion.

Stay with that amount and try to either skip days off or take as many days off in between doses if you can, like a weekend. Vals have a long half life so spreading them out should be no problem.

Myer, I mean it don't go any higher. 1 more a week leads to 2 more a week and so on.

In my opinion(and experience) there is nothing worst that benzo withdraw.

Oh geeze.. I'm never getting out alive huh? "I may be goin t hell in a bucket, but least I'm enjoyin the ride" if that were true, and I enjoyed all this.. I wouldn't be up at 3:15am?

Take HB'er's advice.. stop while ya can or even maybe try to use a diff kind every other time you need something.. like dizzy one day and a day or 2 later, maybe brom@ or even atee van, lasts as long.. GOOD LUCK!!!! I'll always answer PM's. always, IDC if you're a newbie, a member or a VIP.. ect.. "remember, that we're all in this together" Some DON'T... That's ok, some don't realize what your own ego can do to you? Some are busy.. I just go w/ how I was brought up "Do unto others, as you'd want done for yourself" and so far.. It's kept this ego in check that WAS the size of Texas... T for Texas, T for Tennessee..

thx folks for all your input./default_wink.png

for the record at the moment i use 10mg on tuesday , thursday and a saturday.

I wholly dislike the idea of taking them for medical reasons.....up until recently I

used benzo's on the odd weekend recreationally and i mean the odd occasion.

I just hate the concept of relying on something that has a potential to be

dangerous.

I would try Kava but its banned in the UK and it needs to be imported from

the US or hawaii???

btw - a 10mg val is 0.5mg of xanax i believe......!

cheers

How dare you challenge a former benzo addict!/default_smile.png

Most charts I've seen list 10 mg of val = 1 mg of zanny.

As for your intake that sounds reasonable. Try stopping for 4 or 5 days just to see how you feel.

I agree. I have been on high doses of xanax (6mg/day) for approximately 6 years now. When you start to run out, its the end of the world. Scared to death. Extremely intense feelings of imminent doom. When I start to run out, the hell starts. My wife could touch my leg and I would jump 3 feet. Luckily I don't seize when I drastically lower dosage. A lot of people do. If you can have a normal life without xanax, I urge you too. Being hopelessly addicted isn't the end of the world, but it sucks pretty bad.

I'm sure everyone has their own horror stories about the worst withdraws but alcohol and benzos are supposedly the only two you can die from during withdraw.

I have only recently started using benzo's for health reasons .....I am hoping

my condition will improve vastly  it usually does with panic disorder...!

as for benzo equivalency here is the table  from heather ashton the now retired

professor of psychopharmacology-

http://www.benzo.org.uk/bzequiv.htm

everything on the table is compared to a 10 mg diazepam tablet.....

and yes you are spot on headbanger , booze and benzo's when stopped abruptly after heavy addiction

will cause grand mal seizures.....esp alcohol.....the irony is when alcoholics go in for treatment for detoxification tremors (the DT's )

they are put on the  "C -With " scale , which uses diazepam on a sliding scale to eliminate the possibilty of the patient

seizing.

cheers again folks.

Please don't think I'm lecturing you  I actually see a lot of myself in you  especially in another post about if you want to feel better now just take a pill.  Here's the thin about having a seizure though. I ran out of pills MANY times without having a seizure.  Thought I was like you "luckily I don't seize".  But then I did.  Had withdrawn due to lack of supply many times and while I thoguth j was losing my mind I didn't have a seizure.  Until I did.  Your brain is no different than anyone else's and if you use long enough in high enough amounts then quit cold turkey you will eventually seize. I get the good outweighs the bad and who know? Had I not been forced to get off of them I would prob be on mega doses today. Just be careful and don't assume bc you haven't had a seizure that you won't have a seizure.

HB- I don't know how I got your post hooked up with my reply to Dan! Sorry!

@roger.....how high was your dosage and for how long?

Also, how did you quit for good? Do you still constantly think about them? Can you enjoy yourself?

Im genuinely curious. Not trying to be condescending. I can't picture getting any joy out of life at all without them and really want to know how it worked for you.

Roger, with this new format when you quote someone who has quoted someone else you get the whole thing in your quote and not just the person you are quoting.

  1. xenxra @ xenxra: @WTF7218 it may as well be that way with how little effort some of the people on here make to find information that's exactly where you would expect it to be.
  2. ontovzik @ ontovzik: When I had long term shingles, lasting two months. All he could give me was a 10 day supply of dilaudid. He looked at the ground while we were talking about it. I could tell he was ashamed but it was the legislature and the governor that tied his hands. He was very upset that non-medical political people, the media, and the scared public were controlling how he treated his patients. Someday those people will need meds and a hospital bed and they will be gone.
  3. ontovzik @ ontovzik: I had a great doctor, he had the true gift of a healer and he stayed on top of all the science. He straight up told me that for many people opiods work for managing short and long term pain.
  4. ontovzik @ ontovzik: He peed it in the snow in my backyard.
  5. WTF7218 @ WTF7218: @xenxra 😆😂. Yes, but only a few brave souls will ever find the number. You must first order a Dirty Shirley from the bartender. Then you must discreetly take the cocktail napkin from under your drink and unfold it. There you will find the map to the location of the phone number, and clues to decipher the code that it is written in.
  6. xenxra @ xenxra: he left his phone number scribbled in a stall at the pub three blocks down
  7. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar I would try one of those easy online ones .. reddit gives useful info about that
  8. Alkazar @ Alkazar: @NYStateofMind I dont really have a history of abusing things, my docotr is just really stingy. I am thinking of switching.
  9. C @ Cheesus: Thanks xenxra

  13. N @ NYStateofMind: so it was easy bc of my history
  14. N @ NYStateofMind: I didnt really tell him but he knew I needed a new script since my dr went to jail
  15. N @ NYStateofMind: @xenxra I was on Adderall since 15 years ago so my dr prescribed that w no problems and then when I lost my best friend my doctor rxed the valiums but
  16. C @ Cheesus: Temp.pm down for anyone else?
  17. xenxra @ xenxra: @NYStateofMind my doctor's have always been pretty open minded if i can actually come in and explain the pharmacological action of the drugs im seeking instead of just telling them why i think i should be prescribed. the only time it didn't work out for me is when i was trying pharmaceuticals for depression ten years ago and suggested they let me try testosterone instead (turns out i was hypogonadal so they made a mistake denying my request at face value)
  18. T @ Testisthebest: Even down here in Florida when the pill mill docs all switched over to Suboxone and/or retired you can still find some pretty liberal docs but you gotta know what to look for. Mine does "pain management, detox, anxiety, etc. And no insurance. My doc writes me 60 5mg Valium, 14 2mg Xanax and asked if I had ever tried adderal to get more focus at work as I told him I run my own business.
  19. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar do they know your history? Like I dont tell my doctor anything about myself except what they need to know,...I was able to get my dr to rx the highest dose of adderall along with valiums ..... if they dont know your history or there is no history I would just come out and ask what is the reason for their mistreatment.... they have no problem billing your insurance or taking a payment for the visit
  20. T @ Turbo259: @Layne_Cobain Thank you fam
