Ordering From Vendors Because Your Doctor Won't Prescribe What You Need

I am in the middle of a major crisis with my daughter (early 20s) who lives several hours away because of this issue. She's had some imbalance in her brain chemistry for a while, but December of 2014 she had several bad things happen all at once and she had a complete mental breakdown. Her mother drove down to be with her and it was obvious she was in a really bad place. She got her to the ER and they examined her and determined she was suicidal and had her put in a mental health facility (she went kicking and screaming which just destroyed her mother.) The good news is she allowed them to help and after being in for a week she came out - weak, but wanting to live.

The bad news is for several reasons she didn't follow up with her therapist and psych, let her meds lapse. Most of the time she was very good, but if anything happened she would quickly fall into a major depression/anxiety place. She would cut herself and hit her hand so hard on the wall she'd have to go to the ER, I think hoping for pain meds.

At one point years ago she went to an M.D. who prescribed Xanax, and she was immature enough she and her roomate got major addicted. She was also going through an abusive relationship at the time. She would be totally zonked. She and her roomate escaped the relationships and went cold turkey - she actually had a seizure. After that, she was really careful to not let anyone prescribe benzos for her.

In this past year, she has gotten xanax off the street, and actually used it only as needed, and it seems to work well. Other than getting her associating with some seedy people to get it. At times she would only take a half a bar, so only as needed. But in the last week, she had someone steal a ton of money from her, a bad breakup with her boyfriend and a friend go into the hospital for a major OD. All in about 2-3 days. She was really melted down, had no xanax to help herself deal with it, so she actually tried to do the right thing and made a doctors appointment. They looked at her, young woman with tattooes, and told her they'd give her antihistimines - she told them they tried that when she was in the hospital and she had major bad reactions to it. They said, OK here's a script for an antidepressent (and those have issues but that's another thread, but talk to someone who's tried to get off of them) but those would take weeks to kick in, She said, look, I know what I need, just enough xanax to get me through this attack, several days worth. And they treated her like a druggie, of course in her mental state she blew up, and letf in tears. She called me, completely melted down, "I'm screwed. Totally screwed. I can't deal with whats going on in my head, and they just treat me like a druggie." While she knew she'd get the same results, she went to urgent care - same thing. No one would give her a legit script for xanax.

So for the last couple of days she's been close to suicidal. Her mother is driving down to her right now, because she was completely melted down. I've gotten some major help from @2earls in getting some extra fast help from a vendor to get her some xanax but they won't arrive until Tuesday. She tried to get some off the street, and long story that ended poorly. Our hope is that she will let her mother get her back into the mental health facility because it has gotten that bad - after talking to her this morning we were both in tears and her mother is right now on the road trying to get to her. We are afraid she will fight going back into the facility which will be horrific for her mother, trying to get her the help she now needs and her daughter fighting her (how do you MAKE her go?) Without a doubt she's hurting herself as I type this,

All because the doctors would not listen to her and give her a legit, monitored prescription to xanax.

So sad to read the situation your in at the moment sciatic?.

Why can't the doctors (who are supposed to be experts!) realise that nor everyone asking for a particular med is a druggie!.After all the doctor would've had all her medical records and I hope they can live with there selves if anything bad happens meantime!.Which no doubt they will rrrr.

Sending you and your daughter good vibes and hope all works out for you guys,it will be extremely unpleasant to see your daughter kicking and screaming to the syc wards but it's the best place for her by the sounds of it.At the very least they can give her the meds she obviously needs and hopefully get a councilor there that (gets her) fingers crossed!!!.

Peace

Bliss.....

I really hope it goes well for you sciatic. You have had a tough time and i feel for you.

i think a lot of us are driven away by doctors that just seem to be un-sympathetic to the kinds of pain or psychological suffering that a lot of go through.  and we end up here, having to take matters in to our own hands.

it's possible that some kind of state, board, or regulatory restrictions have put doctors in the position where they just seem less sympathetic to those of us asking for help.  but for me it seems like doctors are reluctant to prescribe medicine (or the right medicine) for patients than they used to be.  for me at least.

it's a shame that the health care system cannot provide more for people that truly hurt, and need help.

I've been ordering from vendors to get anti anxiety medications that I need. This is helped me greatly because my regular psychiatrist will not prescribe any benzos. I feel bad about this because I'm usually very good at doing exactly what somebody tells me to do. But I suffered so long for so many years it gets to the point sometimes where I cannot function from the overwhelming anxiety and panic. I need to be on top because I have 2 kids and I have to work and a single parent with post-traumatic stress disorder. My question is with all the medications I take I have taken so many benzos before and at high doses that I really don't need to worry about the interactions. I do feel bad that I'm doing this behind my doctors back. Does anybody else feel this way. And is anybody else ordering from vendors because their doctors won't give them what they should have? Thanks guys I really appreciate it.
Exact reason I started using online vendors. I was at first prescribed low dose dpam from my doc for short term use, it was the only thing that helped with anxiety after years of failure with SSRIs. I'm now dependent on benz0s but at least I get some relief everyday from the hell that I was living in.

Exactly I really hate going to my doc and begging for say a weeks worth of zops,I allways leave thinking I'm quite lucky as im sure it would be in my notes (not to be given bnzs or drugs I'd become dependant on).So unless I use my sources from here I'd be lucky to get 21x7.5mg zops a YEAR!!!.

Gee thanks so much doc your a star (NOT!!!).Now shuffle off for another 4 months with your weeks worth of zop to be picked up one a day for a week!!....

Peace Bliss. ......
