Vpn

I’ve used ‘Hide My Ass’ VPN for years now simply because I enjoy internet content that is limited to specific geographic locations, in particular TV shows from various different European countries.  Not free but inexpensive and it doesn’t impact on streaming reliability.  The interface is user friendly and choice of locations extensive.

i have no commercial link with HMA, just a satisfied customer.
I agree. Hma is awesome

I realize this is an old post but wanted to add to it. I was really shocked to see a bunch of people say no, don't need it etc....

Now (2021) is as good a time as any to have a VPN regardless of whether you're doing something "wrong" or just an average Joe playing around online.  Not only are you hiding your IP from others but you're protecting yourself from your ISP snooping on you. Some are known to,  mine doesn't though. You get an encrypted connection between you and your destination site which is key if you're doing any type of online shopping.  The other benefits are Geographical. You can access things in other countries that you wouldn't normally be able to. A good example would be Netflix. I changed my location from the US to Germany to be able to watch a show that wasn't available here. This is a HUGE benefit for people outside of the US to access our content.

I don't recommend using the free VPN services.  A paid subscription is short money because it's so competitive now. I'd  recommend PureVPN, Express VPN or NORD VPN. Each of these have many servers across countless countries,  offer great connection speeds, keep no logs of user info and are cheap. Some deals are close to $40 for a year subscription others can be up to $10/ month. Regardless of cost it's well worth it. I picked up a 5 year plan on some deal for less than a hundred bucks.

Hopefully this will help someone. Better to be anonymous online nowadays

  1. xenxra @ xenxra: i'm surprised none of the CA-US shops have a notice up about it
  2. Alkazar @ Alkazar: It is really annoying\
  3. Alkazar @ Alkazar: Technically they were forced back to work the last time they went on strike in 2024, so this is the same strike for the same reasons in 2025.
  4. Alkazar @ Alkazar: I dont know how to direct reply to people on here. But the Canada Post strike will affect any mail coming from the US. It will be held at a facility until the striek is over. Mail that is being sent from CAD to the US will just not be picked up. It all has to be private delivery services now.
