I have been on Wellbutrin for 4 months and it has helped me with energy and positivity so much...

Anyways.. I want to get scripted  tramadol but I just saw someone say it shouldn't be mixed with Snris but I havent a clue.. if that's true is there another cheaper pain med one would recommend

@kyle4434 My body dosnt do well with stimulants, Welbutirn , Adderall pretty much left me with life long restless leg syndrome and CNS pain that noly Gabapentin has helped me with. I had to make to switch over to Lexapro

Hi there. I have a little knowledge in this area. Maybe I can help.

There is at least 2 reasons that I know of why these 2 meds don’t mix.  The first, being the most prevalent is Serotonin syndrome.  Most anti-depressant meds like Wellbutrin  cause an uptake of serotonin being created in the body. Serotonin is a chemical produced to regulate mood and to stabilize the mood.
Tramadol is one of the main pain meds (there are a few) that can also be used as mood stabilizers or as pain meds. It can change the way your brain receives pain.  And can cause an uptake in serotonin. So these 2 together causes this risk to rise. Serotonin syndrome can be dangerous. Please google.

Second reason that these 2 meds don’t mix well is because they both can lower the seizure threshold.  Wellbutrin alone has been known to cause seizures in people who have seizure disorders or even in those who don’t.

Since Tramodol has ssri properties to it among other things, it has also caused seizures. So these 2 together may be dangerous. Some people can and take them safely and successfully together but it doesn’t come without some risk.

@kyle4434 To add to this is would HIGHLY recommend getting the ‘Epocrates’ app on your cellphone.  It will tell you all possible interactions for whichever drugs you input.  It’s an amazing app!

@kyle4434 CONTRAVE is a drug with Naltrexone/Bupropion ER (aka Wellbutrin).

It's used as a weight loss drug.  My point here is that it's MAYBE possible Wellbutrin can be mixed with other things too, but maybe start by reading about CONTRAVE and you'll learn about some of the interactions https://contrave.com/how-contrave-works/

P.S. I swear I'm an Engineer and NOT a pharmaceutical rep for Naltrexone, LOL.

  4. Alkazar @ Alkazar: @NYStateofMind I dont really have a history of abusing things, my docotr is just really stingy. I am thinking of switching.

  11. N @ NYStateofMind: @xenxra I was on Adderall since 15 years ago so my dr prescribed that w no problems and then when I lost my best friend my doctor rxed the valiums but
  12. C @ Cheesus: Temp.pm down for anyone else?
  13. xenxra @ xenxra: @NYStateofMind my doctor's have always been pretty open minded if i can actually come in and explain the pharmacological action of the drugs im seeking instead of just telling them why i think i should be prescribed. the only time it didn't work out for me is when i was trying pharmaceuticals for depression ten years ago and suggested they let me try testosterone instead (turns out i was hypogonadal so they made a mistake denying my request at face value)
  14. T @ Testisthebest: Even down here in Florida when the pill mill docs all switched over to Suboxone and/or retired you can still find some pretty liberal docs but you gotta know what to look for. Mine does "pain management, detox, anxiety, etc. And no insurance. My doc writes me 60 5mg Valium, 14 2mg Xanax and asked if I had ever tried adderal to get more focus at work as I told him I run my own business.
  15. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar do they know your history? Like I dont tell my doctor anything about myself except what they need to know,...I was able to get my dr to rx the highest dose of adderall along with valiums ..... if they dont know your history or there is no history I would just come out and ask what is the reason for their mistreatment.... they have no problem billing your insurance or taking a payment for the visit
  16. T @ Turbo259: @Layne_Cobain Thank you fam
  17. Alkazar @ Alkazar: It is INSANE how doctors treat tax paying hard working people like criminals when they ask for opioids. This world just keeps getting more and more backwards. But thanks to this site to be able to find people to help when no one in the medical world will.
