Why Did Db.com Shut Down? How To Avoid The Same Fate?

.I just found this site yesterday after many months of searching for a legitimate option to drugbuyers.com. I used that site for years and the info I got was extremely helpful as were many of the long term members.

It appears to me that we have the same thing going on here which is awesome! Call me weird but I worry this site will get shut down too and all the help & resources I find here will no longer be available.

Does anyone know the reason db.com was closed down? Does anyone know why it was shut down either by the site's owner or forces outside??

The reason I ask is because if we know why the site was closed down, we can maybe avoid the same fate. I don't believe an outside agency (police, feds) would actually be able to shut down a forum website. They weren't selling anything except the VIP membership but that got you discounts IF you sought out products from websites they listed. So they weren't doing anything illegal.

Anyway, just wondered if anyone knew why the site no longer works and if so why? The site is still up and running because the login pages still appear and if you enter the wrong login info, the site catches it, meaning it's still operational. That leads me to believe it was something to do with the owner or manager of the website itself. Maybe that person (or persons) didn't want to operate the site any more? It happens.

A few months before they closed down, I wanted to get a VIP membership and sent them an email asking how to join because there was no "join now" button or anyplace to sign up.

They replied to me and said "we aren't accepting any more new VIP members". I asked if they would in the future and was told they didn't know for sure.

So looking back that tells me they knew the site was going to shut down and did the right thing by NOT taking my money . At least I'd like to believe that's why they didn't take my money-lol.

So now there's a new site & I don't want to say anything stupid that will lead to the demise here.

Welcome to DBG! I agree, we have a great resource here, and having been a long time DB member myself, I fully understand the void left by its demise. That said, things are rarely as they might otherwise seem, and don't presume that a.) an outside agency cannot shut down a forum without direct contraband sales involvement and b.) that there was nothing illegal going on behind the scenes, or at least activities that could be argued as being so. In any event, if you do a keyword search on the forum home page, using terms such as "DB", "Drug Buyers", drugbuyers.com" and "Alex Marlin", you will be able to locate existing threads on the forum which discuss that situation. I don't recall just how many there were, but I do recall reading several, so you might start there. Beyond that, I can send you some links via PM to external web information on the subject. While it's quite clear what occurred, and is a poorly kept secret, a lot of the details were never made public by various agencies and, technically speaking, are conjecture and hearsay. I try to limit my posts to only verifiable facts or retarded adolescent humor, so I'd hate to tarnish my good name by dealing in "rumor", LOL!

I'm running out now for a bit, but would be glad to forward a few links a bit later this evening.

Once again, welcome to DBG...

Thanks for the information Jewy. As far as them being closed down by thee government, I made that statement assuming there was no illegal activity on their part. But you are correct, what happens behind the scenes may never be known.

I did try to access cached pages found with a Google search but I can't find my login info or the email address I used to create my account (had that account for many, many years). The email I probably used is so old, I don't use it anymore.

What I would like to find is the list of overseas pharmacies since the product I'm looking for isn't available on a legitimate US or Canadian site.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much :)

Welcome to DBG! I'm kind of new here too & wanting to be very careful how I say & do things so this place stays under the radar

and off the search engines.

Welcome to you too!

I was curious to know if the site was closed due to postings by that small number of people who never read the forum rules & make a stupid posting offering to sell their personal medicines to strangers??

You would think that's a "no brainer" but I'm always amazed at what people will post on the internet

LOL.

You know we all thought that this site was going to suffer the same fate as db.com aka "Alex Marlin" and we actually had a crew of people willing to step up with the same info as the old forum. In fact the plan probably still exists : ~ | No worries though, just remember you can always shut info off at 1 server and there will be 3 more that pop up within an hour. Think Wiki.

Keep it on a common sense level and things should be fine.

Welcome to DBG.com

PS ~ Relax.

Never was around to see that site. Too bad, as I wish I could add some info to this thread and have made some friends from there too.

Oh well, this site is where it's at now. I don't think there are any comparable ones out there, are there?

Yeah at least this site is up & running now. I posted the question because I've been searching on an off for a year to track down the names of some of the pharmacies I've used in the past.

Having to do without certain meds for the past couple years has really taken a toll on my ability to lead a normal life.

You would have been the life of the party.
This is one of the best and certainly the most entertaining LOL

I supposed there is always people willing to set up another site as in the now folded pharmacyreputation. But that did not last long as we can see. Looked legit with much info. Just much of it was repostings from another similar forum.

Truly as stated above, we should just be careful and relax while waiting for our anxiety pills to aid us haaaa'

I was a long time member of the old DB and I must say things were a bit to easy if you know what I mean. One of the things I like about DBG is that we need to do more research to find what we are in need of. The main page of DB used to annoy me really. I know it was convenient but we keep things a bit more under wraps. Not that we won't help people we trust and guide them in the right direction.

Wiz, you took the words right out of my mouth. "Truly as stated above, we should just be careful and relax while waiting for our anxiety pills to aid us haaaa" Just you too it out too soon hehe.

I was a VIP member of the old db.com (AKA scumbag Alex Marlin's self promotional site).... At the time it seemed safe and it was, then he sold his soul to the biased side, example: promoting different sites for a fee.

This forum is different in that you need to do your own research to make an educated decision on your own.

It is extremely unbiased even know there is a certain someone who runs this forum.

However make no mistake, this site is run by its members and is the ONLY forum to be trusted IMHO.

This is the way the internet should be, an unbiased opinion of who to trust and why based on your own research.

Cheers

I was pleased that DB didn't let me sign up for the VIP membership about a year before they shut down. It would have been really easy to take my money and run

The reason I like forums like db and this is because I tend to pick up on patterns. If a company is getting bad reviews or more bad than good ones, that sticks with me & I stay away.

By doing a LOT of research you start to get an idea of who's good & who's bad. Even if the website favors a certain vendor, the members posts are usually going to tell the true story.

Sadly, people post away when they're upset but often forget to post when things went smoothly. I'm guilty of that too.

I was an old time member, there were some great people and info early on, you get much help, besides buying. I never heard that guys name and don't know what happened because I hadn't been there for a few years, however I know back in '02, in order to get info on ordering from "Dan" you had to become a VIP member, so I guess the guy running the board was a shit from the begining.

You are indeed correct. We may never know the depth of the corruption that was going on behind the scenes. What information is available, however, is rather incredible though to say the least. Would have made for great reality TV, that's for sure. Chock full of lies, double-crosses, strange bedfellows and shattered lives, not to mention what I'm sure was a great deal of money and all that went along with it.

As for logging in to one of the old DB site pages via a cached Google page, I'm not certain that can be accomplished. Even though you are able to reach the HTML page that is resident in Google's archive, the back end site functionality has certainly been disabled at this point, subsequent to the DEA having taken over the site for monitoring and then shutting it down per an amnesty agreement with Alex, or some similar arrangement. I can't imagine that the login functionality would have been left active. When I have a few minutes this evening, I may try and locate a cached page and enter my old login information just to test the theory.

In any event, as for a comprehensive IOP list, I am not in possession of any such list, other than what's available here at DBG, but if there is a specific product that you seek and would like to PM me, I'd be glad to offer a referral if I know where it might be able to be found, or, at the very least, refer you to another member who might be able to be of assistance.

Take care.....

Hmm, didn't realize there was so much drama behind DB shutting down. I just figured Uncle Sam was doing what he does...suck! Lol. Seriously though, really glad I found this board even if it took like a year. Thanks for having my Pheet, DBG!

I recently found this site, and was using pharmacy review after DB went down. Happy to have found it, seems like a wealth of information.

I think I recall reading some posts on that site, it was certainly a good while back if so. Back when I was looking for stuff really hard I joined a site called endlessmeds which sold lists of so called reliable pharmacies. I think they are still up actually. I've been pretty well satisfied for the last few years, or really just better able to exercise self control.

This is just a guess but I don't think for a minute the Feds or any other law enforcement gave a fat rat's butt about DB. But good old Alex I always did believe he or one of his Mod's had a little something going on the side. Now that to me would be a more more like it. Alex was a jerk that played junkie games.

In and of itself, no, the boys in the Tahoes had no interest in DB, not the membership & customers anyway. That said, rest assured that Alex did indeed have "a little something going on the side". In fact, that may be the understatement of 2012.

The fact is, Alex Marlin was the ring master of a distribution system that was of surprising scale. When the kitchen got hot, he turned on his pharmacist vendors, who took the fall as the licensed supply source. Alex slithered out of it all as an informant with immunity. It's really just that simple.

There were no grand proclamations on the part of LE at the time, as they left Alex and DB live the final 6 months in an evidence gathering mission. Some pharmacists went to the Uncle Sam Lodge for an extended stay, and Alex went home to the islands. The End...

If anyone has a desire to read the sordid details blow by blow, I've posted previous commentary as well as links to various media reports. The information is readily accessible.

  9. Professor_ @ Professor_: Hi Good Morning
  10. xenxra @ xenxra: I've opened a case with numerous exchanges at this point to monitor all the addresses I have on hand but after a lot of bakc and forth they all ultimately suggest I file a report with local PD but the people in my area are generally definitely not savvy enough to handle a case like this so I'd be left waiting around for them.to pass my case upto secret service or something
  11. xenxra @ xenxra: not a bad idea, I'm open to anything. problem is I don't really have a direct method of contact with the attacker. they used a VPN with a Google voice number to reach me.bc my number was leaked in a data breach (like 10 times at this point) and then the rest of the ordeal was carried out through a falsified coinbase front-end. atm I'm mostly just concerned with getting any phone numbers I have on hand suspended (done) and as many addresses as possible frozen (in progress)
  12. uncharted @ uncharted: @xenxra It's not the best advice but you could alway's bind a RAT to PDF file and send them an email from a differnt email posing as a lawyer/or some authority figure from a saying someting about sueing/fake affidavit or anything you can think that would make them scared/curious/greedy enough to open it and then drain their crypto or find out who it is and pinpoint their location and file charges. Just brainstorming.
  13. xenxra @ xenxra: appreciate the kind words everyone. I think I'll make it. if I can even just so much as manage to get one of these guys locked up with the trail.i have on them then I can sit well with that. based on a couple addresses I've come across they've taken at least $5mil total from other victims.
  14. T @ timyboy: BTC is soaring woohoo
  15. K @ knofflebon: @xenxra fuuuuuuuck I'm so sorry to hear that, goddamn. Crypto scammers are getting so sophisticated these days. Here's hoping this won't keep you down for too long, painful though it may be.
  16. PHXINC @ PHXINC: i dunno its not up my field. I understand you being over it. im sorry and people suck. shit i was pissed when the snow kids took 1200 from me. You have a good balance. kudos to you. There is another 100k out there.
  17. PHXINC @ PHXINC: i dunno its not up my field. I understand you being over it. im sorry and people suck. shit i was pissed when the snow kids took 1200 from me. Right before that i had a very large amount of things taken from me from a 'friend' through a combined deal to his drop of course. You have a good balance. kudos to you. There is another 100k out there.

  20. xenxra @ xenxra: i mean i know how to do bc analytics and such so i figure the only thing a "hacker" on dread would be able to do is counter manipulate the dude but i have no method to contact him anyway besides maybe leaving a spooky note on chain with one of the eth addresses they funneled through
