Why Did Db.com Shut Down? How To Avoid The Same Fate?

Or maybe they could switch to a different domain and fwd ppl there when they type in the original domain.

Interesting.  So it could be that the name was seized which is pretty much what the twitter message said.  Wonder how when it's fixed, the membership will be notified of the new name?  Probably via the twitter feed.

Any of you PR refugees follow their twitter feed?
Hi SM! So good to see you!  /default_smile.png  I have been following the twitter feed and so far I haven't seen any updates. I would think that if they actually are able to fix this that some sort of news would be posted there. I've seen quite a few people we know that are following like we are. Hope you are well.

On another note: Hope your trip/visit went well with the family. I was never able to see the outcome!  /default_biggrin.png

Hi Sheena!  So glad we were able to find a forum who's registration was not closed.  Immediate access to finding our friends was/is so key.

Glad you follow PR's twitter feed.  Do let us know if there are any updates.  Do be careful and follow only the most trusted pharmacy/review sites.

I have been reading everything I can on what happened to PR and as someone posted above, it's the name not the servers.  The name was registered in the US and the servers are not in the US.

Some stuff has been written on website news sites lately (site name in previous post) about suspending forum/site names.   It's a decision made by the domain name services/companies.   Sometimes these services are given a court order; sometimes they just comply with a request from LE.

It's pretty straightforward if the site is selling meds, but the line is fuzzier when the site is a pharmacy review site.  Mostly I am sure these domain/name services do not want to be fined for aiding and abetting, like Fed-x was.  Seems to me that just as LE went after the money transfer services, they are going after the domain/board name services as well.   PR was such a big site both content and member-wise, I guess LE went after them to make a point.

PR could probably get a new name and pop back up, but my guess is mgt there wants to resolve more long term.  Best answer is probably a new name, hosted by a service that is not in the US.  Maybe that is harder to do than we would think.

But I am just taking what others have said, summarizing it, and putting it together best I can.  So who knows for sure?  Not me!

***** Following is off topic *****

My visit with my in-laws went really well.  Super nice apartment in the city and beautiful home at the lake, 2 hours outside of the city.

I had decided that I would just ask for a glass of wine b4 dinner as that one bottle was usually served.  You know, get to it first lol.  But turned out that since my other SIL was there, they had gone wine shopping just for me!  How nice was that!  But there was also no excess drinking which was appropriate.  To be honest I had more of an issue finding no sugar, no grain food options.  I did my best, and just got back on track when I got home.

We are in open forum here so I will not be as chatty as usual.  Only 20 posts to pm though.  Or maybe there is a Sr Forum that will open up to us at 20 posts, I don't know.

Glad to see you Sheena.  It's so upsetting when a board goes down.  Everyone is scattered to the four corners ...

Excellent summary SpaceMatters, that's how I understand the situation to be. I'm very thankful that DBG has been so gracious to let us regroup here. Best!

I posted this in another thread too, but count me as one of the grateful ones. I was a PR member for a few years, my only forum, but got used to the community there.

I noticed that after the last post about the NAND issue beinb resolved by lawyers, the PR twitter page vanished.

I'm so very glad to be approved and a member of DBG, many thanks to what seems a really rational and together place!

Huh - I just pulled up their twitter feed, as in two minutes ago.

We are really glad to have you guys here! Maybe this is your new home!

Thank you so much CatintheHat for welcoming all of us to DBG. People seem so friendly here and it gives us "refugees" a soft spot to land!  /default_smile.png

It is a pleasure to have you guys honestly. I have never seen a group of people so mindful of the rules. I was in a panic when you all started showing up, but there was no need! With no exceptions, every PR member has enriched the forum. I was a member over there, but this always felt like home :)

  4. ClintEastwood @ ClintEastwood: Robert Duvall and a handful of others were a younger actors coach and always said no one worked as hard as those guys did. Robert Duvall and rest would read the full script 228 over and over, then after the last read they would go into how to perform their character. The young man had made it to meet Al who are greats and pull them to the side. And explain what his coach said. They all looked back and said out of every role you’ve seen me in. I have read it 228 by myself. 🫡 🫢 🫢 🫢
  5. ClintEastwood @ ClintEastwood: Sorry for comment below, but I couldn’t delete. Know I see the

  10. Realbenzeyes @ Realbenzeyes: I always thought I should’ve been born in a much earlier time but I will say, i do enjoy my Xbox and occasional TV series tho 😂
  11. Realbenzeyes @ Realbenzeyes: I just wish the opioid epidemic never happened. Fk the turn of the century (which would be cool no doubt)! Many of my friends and family would’ve ended up in asylums like so many others. I just wish I could get back all those I’ve lost since the start
  12. L @ Layne_Cobain: 1914 I meant
  13. L @ Layne_Cobain: I often wish I lived during the turn of the century or at least before the Harrison narcotics act or whatever I think it was 1924 the fun ended but anyway yeh being able to get laudanum, ❄️ and amphetamine at the local friendly pharmacy
  14. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Chew on the leaves with a bit of slaked lime and enjoy the mild boost you get from the raw base.
  15. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I’m sure you know the folks in the mountainous regions along South Americas pacific side buy cócà leaves at the local farmers market just to help acclimate to the higher elevation when they have to head up into the hills.
  16. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I would certainly have bought it, swilled it, enjoyed it…. Why not? A little boost in your juice isn’t going to hurt anyone.
  17. R @ Royboy99: Exports were reported to have around 7.2mg per FL OZ, it’s success is what actually led to Coca Cola
  18. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Having cramps and husband thinks you’re acting hysterical (ie. PMS) the doc would either perform a certain massage to relieve the strains of motherhood and family life of that time or send you down to the local apothecary for a bottle of laudanum… A tincture of alcohol and 10% òpìųm. Fun days huh?
  19. R @ Royboy99: @malestrom: yeah thats it, my bad Mariani, yeah i considered that and also its ROA, which was oral so the bioavailability was lower than insufflation, higher degree of purity tho and longer duration … there was a significant marked increase of patents filed by Edison during the time it was released in the US. Presidents were known to use it as well, and the Queen. The pope awarded the wine the Vatican gold medal award
  20. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I think it was called vin Mariani. But yeah, it was all the rave back in the turn to the 20th century. Original formula Coca Cola did it for a while too. I think it was pretty weak though. Something like 200 mg per liter of wine. Enough to maybe give you a little push but unless you could pound some serious alcohol, it’d be hard to really feel the effects before the ethyl knocked you down on the ground. It was an interesting time period. Laudanum was a “hysterical” woman’s best friend.
